First single, "Oh Love," coming July 16th

From what we can tell there's no real audible bass, it seems like a very guitar-drums driven song, but that could change (not to mention I don't have a particular ear for the bass)... still, I don't think bass is going to be a very important feature of the first single, but I do think it will be on other songs.

From what we've heard, bass is again important (what a relief). If bass is heardable in Oh Love too when I buy it I will be freaking excited, more than ever. You, people who have already listened to Oh Love, can you hear if bass is heardable? Or you can because of shitty recording?

It's a shitty recording, but I'm fairly sure he just plays the ground notes most of the time. The song just doesn't allow crazy basslines, it's guitar-driven.

But seriously though, you shouldn't determine your expectations by how important the bass is. Oh Love is an awesome song. But if it doesn't need a kickass bassline, then it shouldn't have one.. it's simple as that really. A cohesive song is much better than a song where the musicians 'overplay' everything.

I'm impatient to listen to Oh Love and watch the music video :D And what will the cover look like?

Do you think the first music video from UNO! (DOS! TRE!) will be "Oh, love"? Or i've missed some information...

It would be awesome to watch a new video for a song from Uno before it will be released!

I'm sure this song will have all of it including a good bass line.

I remember the first time I heard Oh Love from one of the secret show recordings, and I was blown away by it. Just the way it builds up to the chorous and the passion in the lyrics and what not. I'm sure it's been vamped up a bit since the secret show, and will sound a bit more complex like the previews we've heard in the two trailers so far, so I'm really looking forward to it.

It's probably a good choice for the first single because it's a love song, and therefore quite accessible to everyone, no matter what they normally listen to :)

I assume there will be a music video for Oh Love.

It's a single and singles normally have music videos :sherlock:

I hope the video won't be too cheesy. :P

I agree. It shouldn't be too hard to top the 21CB music videos though. They just need a good director and a producer with very innovating outside-the-box ideas

So when do you guys think the actual music video will be released? I can't remember whether the KYE music video was released at the same time as the single...

It doesn't need to be kickass. It needs to be easily heard, unlike in the last 2 albums. Also, bass determines how much I like an album more than other people because bass is my favorite instrument, but I don't diss an album just because the basslines are bad. American Idiot, bass-wise, sucked but I still liked it.

Oh love is comming out in 3 weeks?

Considering big changes in GD sound on these albums I pretty much think that you'll be satisfied with bass

I think so too, from the trailers' sound.

Anyone else is having truoble trying not to listen to the secret show's recording for Oh Love before the 16th July?

Yeap. I've listened for like 10 or 15 seconds and then thought: WHAT AM I DOING?! and turned it off. But still too much temptation

How many singles do you think will be chosen from each record?

I'm expecting two from each one. And I'm thinking they will first release one song from the albums and then go on with the second choices. (1st single from Uno! = July - 1st single from Dos! = September - 1st single from Tré! = November and then the second ones in order again)...I personally don't see them releasing two (or more) songs from Uno!, then proceeding to Dos! and Tré!.

I also think they'll release all the singles from each album before it is released to save time. Maybe after alla lbums are out with 2 singles each they release more. By now, for ¡Uno! the singles I expect are 'Oh Love' and 'Carpe Diem'.

i re-listened to it yesterday and printed the lyrics  think it wasn't last time i listened to "Oh, love!" before it will be released - just to check the difference between live and studio versions

Oh Love is important for the guitars and the drums, not the bass. I am pretty sure the bass will just be in the background, with simple notes... Nothing special. But I bet the other songs (Kill The DJ for instance) will have a whole load of bass. :)

Just wait till all the guys get a load of bass

I have lost the hope of being Mike and Tré songs, I don't know why but I don't think there will be now.

I remember when American Idiot just was released, there was a sticker on it saying "including the songs American Idiot, Boulevard of Broken Dreams.." literally stating what the future singles would be. They did the same with 21CB but it only said "including Know Your Enemy and 21 Guns". Maybe because they hadn't decided on the other singles yet.

So we will see if they will do it again on Uno, Dos and Tre

I don't know, but I just have a feeling for some reason that they will just say "Featuring the hit single Oh Love" even if they would already know about a second single by then. I don't know why. I just have this feeling. Let's wait and see.

I hope they don't reveal the singles like that. Worst way ever.

That might happen. I would prefer that.

I like to be surprised with their choice of the next single. I love those small special Green Day surprises.

Where did that tidbit come from? Jason was confirmed to have recorded two tracks?

Rolling Stone article - Rob Cavallo specifically noted that they're using two guitars in much of the trilogy's music now, and in the same article, Jason was referred to as that second guitarist. I don't think we'll know for sure 'til we actually see the liner notes, but whatever sixth sense I have about things Green Day is telling me that Jason is going to be a lot more prominent on these albums. They simply sound better with Jason in the mix not just live but also in the studio, and I'd bet my first-born that Rob both knows this and has used it to the band's full advantage this time.

Oh, there were already 2 guitar tracks? But doesn't that decrease the importance of bass?

One word: Foxtubs.

Agreed. The sound becomes more refined when Jason steps in as the second guitarist.
