Don't worry, I personally don't care. I can not read them and I would have only spotted 2 words more or less.

Also, Uno and Dos sound pretty similar don't they? I see the spund in Uno and Dos trailers pretty similar. Also, I love their new instruments' sound.

I really do think there will be a more "pump-ass" single released right before the album comes out. I think Oh Love is set to be a single because it's different than what people were expecting to hear first so it'll grab people's attention who normally push Green Day to the side.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, people expect to hear something fast and exciting for a first single from Green Day, I guess Green Day decided against that this time and decided to go a different direction. They want people to know these albums are going to be unlike anything they have ever done before, and coming out with an unexpected single such as Oh Love proves that to the public even more.

I'm probably wrong, but just my two cents. :P

I could imagine that, too.

I just love what I can hear and I just can't wait for it! <3

It's often like this that I don't listen so much to them when they are making new albums and are not on the road but now it's the time to start listen again!

Will write 16th of july up in my calender for shore!

Oh sheeeeeeeet yes. Seriously can't wait to hear the new Green Day, I'm going to now perform the trout dance in celebration.

Never would have thought this would be the first single but I love it.

Seriously, how fucking sweet is the following sentence....

The first single from three new Green Day albums produced by Rob Cavallo is about to be released.

That sentence reminds me of when AI was released... and I didn't even know how badass rob was. Now I'm even MORE excited.

I can't comprehend all the hatred for Oh Love! :shok::(

I've been obsessed with it since I heard that live version from the secret shows. I still haven't ever listened beyond the first verse and chorus because I don't want to ruin it for myself, but that part is beautiful and just stays in my head for weeks. I love it. I love how it builds up to the chorus.

I think Oh Love will be an excellent single (with an epic music video, I hope!), and it will show a different side of Green Day than many of their other singles have done. It's not so political, and it isn't the standard uptempo rock song like most of their first singles have been. But it's not the same kind of power ballad as 21 Guns or Wake Me Up When September Ends or something. It's like a perfect balance in between. I'm really excited for it.

And if anything, there's no way it could be worse than Know Your Enemy. No offense to that song, but it's their worst single they've ever released. Probably the worst song on the album. It actually made me a lot less excited for 21st Century Breakdown.

Oh Love will have the opposite effect for most people I think. It's beautiful and kind of addictive

^ I can't understand it either :ermm:

I'm ok with any song they choose to be a single because all I want is to see them again. Maybe after listening to the record we can talk about what single should/we'd like to be next.

*As for Know Your Enemy, to me it was a great first single and the video is the best from the 21st CB era*

To me it's a breath of fresh air after the decidedly NOT cliche lyrics on the last album. 21CB had such intense lyrics that sometimes you really didn't know what he was talking about, and that's what made those songs harder to relate to. I think there's definitely a middle ground in songwriting (I feel like the lyrics to "Amy" are simple but poetic), and Oh Love probably errs more on the side of "Anyone could have written these words,", but sometimes silly love songs are a good break for a Green Day fan.

I prefer simple songs. I like them better because they are far more relatable and I don't really like that many cheesy songs on an album. I don't usually like cheesy stuff.

Lyrically I think the trilogy will be a big step back toward the style of songwriting that we saw back in the pre-Dookie days -- simple, catchy, cute, sometimes deep, sometimes kitschy song structures and lyrics that just simply hook you with their beauty, and only sometimes are intended to make some deeper or surprising point. I'm not thinking we're going to get anything like "She" or "When I Come Around" out of these -- instead, look more at the style of songs like 2000LYA or WWHC. The beauty of the former is the power of some incredibly strong emotions expressed in simple, straightforward lyrics; the beauty of the latter is in the depth of meaning, the "hey, that speaks to how I'm feeling now or have felt before", that's masked in the song's lyrical simplicity. I'm still going to look for links between songs buried in the lyrics because, honestly, I don't think Billie could avoid writing that way if his life depended on it...but I agree that we're not likely to see the kind of complex and intense, "50 different themes exploding in your head all at once" lyrical spaghetti that we saw in 21stCB and to a lesser extent American Idiot.

Also, Uno and Dos sound pretty similar don't they? I see the spund in Uno and Dos trailers pretty similar. Also, I love their new instruments' sound.

I think all three will sound simliar, and will sound totally different from what Green Day has done in the past. They completely replaced their instrument sets for this album, steering away from punk and going for a vintage, 70's/80's retro R'n'R sound -- I think Mike's still using his trusty Fender bass on at least some tracks, but Tre ditched his Leedy kit and Billie shelved not just Blue but his go-to Les Paul Jr. collection, both in favor of Gretsch gear. I think they also mothballed their Marshall amps, but I haven't come across any studio tech articles that have reported what they're using instead. The last important tidbit that's been reported so far is that they put Jason White to work on many of the tracks, laying down two guitar tracks per song (I guess Billie on lead and Jason on rhythm, or vice-versa like they do live?) instead of just one. Get ready for something we've never heard out of these guys before, except at the live "secret shows". That's how different these albums seem like they're going to be.

This.

I loved both AI and 21CB, but it's good to see them break from the serious stuff for more playful and personal music. How good will it be to listen to their new stuff before rocking up to parties? Didn't quite feel right with their last two albums.

Yeah, I can't just relax and have fun with songs like JOS or Homecoming, there's too much in them, too much story and emotional things. My brain relates every song on AI to the story and the characters. And that is genius, that is awesome, but again, sometimes you just need to have fun and don't think about anything else.

Where did that tidbit come from? Jason was confirmed to have recorded two tracks?

I thought that it wasn't really confirmed yet, just rumors

Also interesting to note that Oh Love is the last track on Uno. I was just thinking the other day how I can't think of any band that has released the last track on an album as a single, let alone the lead single (though it probably has happened before).

I'm impatient to listen to Oh Love and watch the music video :D And what will the cover look like?

By two tracks he meant that there was two guitar tracks recorded within each songs. Instead of Billie doing two guitar track himself, Billie would do one and Jason would do one.

Yknow ?

Oh, there were already 2 guitar tracks? But doesn't that decrease the importance of bass?

This has probably already been answered, but it just occured to me now, as the single comes out July 16th does that mean the first radio play will also be July 16th, or will they be playing it on the run up to the release date? I know most singles over here are played for a couple of weeks before the song is actually released for sale, I'm assuming to gain a bit of hype around them so they sell better. If that's the case the first radio play would be really soon? From what I remember from the articles I've read it does seem like we're not gonna be hearing this until the release date though.

Usually bass is mixed centered and guitars are mixed panned left and right when you listen through headphones.

Green Day have been doing it for a long time. Listen to 21 Guns or American Idiot or BOBD. It won't decrease it as much. It gives the song an extra drive and power.

Source: I mix songs. Haha.

They'll play it on the radio on the day of annouced on radio stations they give it to. And sometime afterwards it'll be able for purchase online.

BoBD and 21 Guns have almost unnoticeable bass! If this happens again I will enjoy like 70% less the trilogy

I love Mike's sexyass bass tone, but hopefully his bass will be noticeable since most of the songs seems like he's not following the root notes of the guitar.

If anything... :runaround: the 70% it is... :(

Yeah, to me bass is 70% because it's by incredibly far my favorite sound. Vocals are also important, so maybe I'll decrease bass to a fair 50% to balance things with voice and the other instruments.

I love Mike's sexyass basslines, but the last two records had him follow the root notes and that didn't really show up for much if you didn't listen carefully, but it seems like he's making awesome basslines so I fear not ! :D

Without the bass the song wouldn't drive along, it'll sound stale like... (insert current crappy band that's around)

I'm really excited! :dance::D

From what we've heard, bass is again important (what a relief). If bass is heardable in Oh Love too when I buy it I will be freaking excited, more than ever. You, people who have already listened to Oh Love, can you hear if bass is heardable? Or you can because of shitty recording?
