Hidingfromcrazies Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 I hate Burbank right now! Curse you Burbank!
Fuzz Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 I'm not doubting he has connections to them ALOT of people do, but he is not a rep for them, there has been no official confirmation thru the actual band. That's all I'm saying. I don't blame anyone for having some doubt. I think I have a pretty damn good track record of confirming news, but either way, no harm in holding doubts.
annaclaramd Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 I was really excited to see comments about the show and in the hope to have new stuff. Oh, shit.
gmcloughlin Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 So sickened about this Was really looking forward to hearing reviews of the new songs
Hermione Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Sad times There is a part of me hoping they're holding off just in case. That's what I'm thinking. It's not exactly good marketing for them to hype up a show and then not do it. Even if it's a totally different date and venue it'd be good for both the band and fans for them to try and sort something out if it's at all possible. I guess it'd be even worse marketing for them to say they're trying to reschedule and then disappoint everyone again if they can't, so I'm hoping they are trying but just aren't saying anything until they're sure.
Hidingfromcrazies Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Hey, I've got friends and family in Burbank. Reverse the curse! Ok I will reverse curse just for you. But still not cool!
gerardsangel4977 Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 No offense but until I hear it from the band, crew, or it's on official site, nothing is "official", you're just a fan. I know this has already been commented on, and most of us are wary about what the lack of news on the official site means, but I still find this a really odd thing to say because, while Andres may be "just a fan", surely their management (the *real* source of the info) is not.
Tubbie Head Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 I feel bad for the people who were all excited about it (and were going). I hope no one flew over there XD
Fuzz Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Green Day's team is more than just one person. So even though I'm positive the plans for this show have been cancelled (I've never been lied to about anything from their managers), there's still part of me hoping someone with them is working on finding a solution. Either a new venue or making plans to hold it somewhere else with a shorter announcement date to avoid huge crowds. I also don't think it makes anyone look bad. This happens from time to time because a band as large as Green Day can't just play a surprise show without people flipping out. They're well aware of the logistics to pull off an event like this, and sometimes it falls through. I'm sure the band really want to be out there performing, and I'm sure they'll find a way to do it even if it's not this week.
Undómiel Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 How about, don't make it surprise; ANNOUNCE A TOUR... Then people won't freak so much.
Sweet Armataged Chump Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 Ok, I just got a call back from a captain at Burbank Fire Department. (An inspector captain). THE guy in charge of people control at events in Burbank. He completely denies that there were even permits requested in Burbank by Green Day (or for any other large event). I asked him if there was a request, and a denial, or one that is current would he know about it. He said yes and seemed quite confident that there was no large scale event being planned at all in Burbank. This is a fire inspector Captain. Pretty confusing. Probably the idea that GD could be lying so there won't be as many people trying to come. As mentioned before.

What I'm curious about is those sites that said a press release was put out. Did any of them post the actual press release to show who it was from?

Confusing indeed Probably the idea that GD could be lying so there won't be as many people trying to come. As mentioned before. and this was my thought from the beginning like it was a false posting so that people would think it is cancelled so they would not come en masse and then there would be something happening very last minute where possibly only locals would be able attend.

farley drexel hatcher Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 So, if they haven't applied for a permit in Burbank, then they obviously aren't planning, and probably never were planning, on having a show there. Can't likely have a show without a permit and surely that thing would have been sorted before Billie run his mouth about the whole thing.
Hidingfromcrazies Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 I will laugh soo damn hard if I am at my tattoo appointment this Friday sitting there on my chair while I'm getting ink, looking at my phone reading a tweet saying its at such and so "get there now" type of thing................ Thankfully the appointment is early during the day.
Red Lights Flash Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Exactly what I've been wondering. If they officially canceled with a PR, where the fuck is it? Then again, if the PR was false, they would've told Andres when he asked for confirmation.
Requila Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 laist.com said "The city denied permits for the group to play a free concert, according to an e-mail from the band's press rep." The press release said this, according to azcentral.com: Arrangements for this 'secret' show were already under way, when permits needed for the show were denied by the city due to crowd control issues. The anticipated turnout was well into the thousands, and after monitoring the situation, fears were the number would dramatically swell and pose serious concern for safety of concert-goers once the location was made public. But yeah, making a press release to say a secret show has been cancalled while it hasn't been announced yet seems very strange, especially when they don't tell anything to the fans at all. They could've just tweeted that they were having some problems with the permits and that they maybe will look at other venues at other dates.
norcalgreendayfan Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Then again, if the PR was false, they would've told Andres when he asked for confirmation. or maybe they didn't so that it would keep people thinking it was cancelled while they planned something extremely last minute, probably reaching here but hey i love a good conspiracy theoryhttp://live105.radio.com/2012/06/20/green-day-cancels-surprise-rock-n-roll-sex-party-in-burbank-this-friday/ Here is the post from LIVE 105 in San Francisco which is basically saying the same things all the other postings have said
walkingcatastrophe Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Then again, if the PR was false, they would've told Andres when he asked for confirmation. Because what better way to get the fans planning on coming out from far away and too many people for tge venue capacity to not show up, than to have it be "confirmed" on a fan site? They'll probably announce Friday "fooled you!"
Requila Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 There is definitely not a press release or we would see it in the PRESS. A press release would show up on PRnewswire.com There has been no press release by Green Day as of yet. "A statement from the management" is what I've heard anyway. My doubt about everything we know right now is extremely high. I don't know whats up but they should have served the announcement already if it were true. Maybe it's coming any minute or something. They've thrown out the press release by e-mail. And yes, that's pretty strange if you ask me.
Alan86 Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Im guessing they are trying to organise another venue and if they can't get anywhere else then they will issue the press release, or make the one the have e-mailed public
Alan86 Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 I generally think that as well. What's messing with me is the city's absolute denial of denying the permits. I mean these aren't people that were hiding something, they truly had no fucking idea what I was talking about. Feel like this will all be true, but right now, the signs don't completely point. The best info I've gotten has come from an e-mail Andres got but I've been told by people close to the band that they didn't know where it was when they sure as fuck did (before it was canceled). Im sure it'll all become clear in the next day or so. It must be very annoying for people in the area that want to go though.
