norcalgreendayfan Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Well I am sure that is the original plans for the show have indeed been cancelled than the band may be doing something else or could be working with the city right now to work things out and give them all sorts of assurances so that the permits will be issued and that they will be able to do the show even if it is o na smaller scale than was intended .
BringMoreKnives Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 From the GreenDayRumors twitter account: "Could this 'cancelled' announcement be a tool to reduce hype and be a crowd-controller for an actual show?" Hmmm....maybe...
Hidingfromcrazies Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Burbank blows right now! I think they should do it in my neightborhood in Santa Clarita!!!! Central Park damn it! There are concerts there all the freaking time!!!!!! If not they should all go to crook600's place!!!! LOL
solongfromthestars Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 They can always come to England and play in the field behind my house. I reckon we could fit at least 3000 in there. More if people are willing to sit in trees and amongst people's garden gnomes. It's okay, I'm joking. This really sucks. It must be so disappointing for LA people I'm sure they're going to arrange something else though.
Hidingfromcrazies Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Getting those permits can be a pain in the ass sometimes, I've had to plan events with an old job I had in AZ. What is worse, is trying to get a fucking CAMEL for your event last min!
Bundita Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Maybe it is a rumor to reduce the amount of people coming since Billie hasn't tweeted about it yet... I would imagine that if the location was moved or something, that Billie would let us know since many fans are coming from all around the world to see the show...
sara_gd Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Maybe Billie didn't give us a venue because they were still trying to get permissions. So if they didn't get this one, I think it's probable that they get another one.
Hidingfromcrazies Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Indeed Santa Clarita Concerts in the park would be a great place. The city of Santa Clarita is actually very easy to work with. The Saugus Speed Way would be a great option as well. I happen to be in Valencia today. Yes I agree! They are so awesome when It comes to bringing in big events here! We have bands playing every summer in Central Park. You were in Valencia today???? Well hello! lol I bike here everyday passing this place you took a pic of!!!! I live a few miles down the road from this! lol
Requila Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 So... Green Day didn't get the permits.. so they decided to throw out a press release per e-mail about how this not-yet announced show got cancelled without letting the fans know anything? Strange story. But I'm sure the guys will find another venue at another place
Sweet Armataged Chump Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 The Saugus Speed Way would be a great option as well. What about Auto Club Speedway? It could fit thousands of people.
Undómiel Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Not an especially great start to the album promotion cycle...
Hidingfromcrazies Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 So where in Burbank was it supposed to be? I say Starlight or WB lot. Probably lot. I say they take over that stupid Golf Course (LakeSide Country Club) Damn bastards were rude when I was working at that George Lopez Celeb tourney in May!!!! Wishful thinking :-) LOL
farley drexel hatcher Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Not an especially great start to the album promotion cycle... Unless they use it to their advantage and hype up the next show even more.
Florence Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 that's sucks! I hope nobody booked a flight to LA for this show.
Undómiel Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Unless they use it to their advantage and hype up the next show even more. I guess they could do. It's just a bit of a bummer...
Tubbie Head Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 http://absolutepunk....d.php?t=2794512 Well duh, are they dumb? I mean, why didn't they think about that before.... First announcing it a week before & saying it was free, of course they would get a huge crowd.
Heather. Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 And this is why they don't let Billie handle promotion. Warner Bros. is gonna have to tell him not to tweet things like this.
Rianne Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 I have a strange feeling there's more going on here. They won't cancel a free secret show that Billie Joe personally announced. They'll probably reschedule it & move it to another venue. At least I hope they will...
Tubbie Head Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 From the GreenDayRumors twitter account: "Could this 'cancelled' announcement be a tool to reduce hype and be a crowd-controller for an actual show?" Hmmm....maybe... Actually that was the first thing I thought, but I don't know, I'm sure they are still trying to get it to work (even if it is somewhere else)...
Fuzz Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Sent an email asking if they're looking for other places or if it's just not going to happen at all.
Tubbie Head Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 And this is why they don't let Billie handle promotion. Warner Bros. is gonna have to tell him not to tweet things like this. yeah, it's like he isn't conscious of the amount of fans GD have yet!
Fuzz Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Nope, show was completely called off. No plans to try and find somewhere else last minute.
Sweet Armataged Chump Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 well. fuck. this really fucking sucks for those LA GD fans.
solongfromthestars Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Nope, show was completely called off. No plans to try and find somewhere else last minute. Oh too bad. Well thanks for finding that out for us anyway!
