djrossstar Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Because it's not realistic. Hollywood/Highland mall or CityWalk make more sense to me.
GTI Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Let's brainstorm everyone. San Francisco/Oakland/LA area. Big enough place for say, at least 500 people, maybe 1,000. And free. Though with free, there just may not be a charge to get in. As djrossstar said, those places seem more realistic. The beach would be cool, but doubtful.
Prisca Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 ^Anything goes when it comes to these guys, but I can understand why you wouldn't see the beach thing happening. Let's brainstorm everyone. The only place that seems like it'd be free and open to a large capacity of people would be the Nokia Plaza like the Carson Daly new years gig. Although, the CityWalk DOES hold free concerts there, so that can definitely be an option.
GTI Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 ^Anything goes when it comes to these guys, but I can understand why you wouldn't see the beach thing happening. I just don't want everyone to get hooked onto it being on the beach. I bet we could get a good bearing where it is.
djrossstar Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 GTI has a good point. I think the beach is as likely as it being at the La Zoo.
Guest Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 i hope its not at citywalk beacouse they would regulate the language for sure !
GTI Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 GTI has a good point. I think the beach is as likely as it being at the La Zoo. Haha. When I think free, I think somewhere not indoors, so not a venue. Something like when they played outside of the Staples Center. Could possibly be at one of the parks in San Fran or LA? CityWalk is a good choice.
Prisca Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 i hope its not at citywalk beacouse they would regulate the language for sure ! True. I personally don't want it to be at the CityWalk. I'm just not a big fan of the place :/ Haha. When I think free, I think somewhere not indoors, so not a venue. Something like when they played outside of the Staples Center. Ritz Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Googled Citywalk and Nokia Center. Both are big places where THIS concert can be held. It will be better if its done out in the open rather than indoors.
djrossstar Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I agree that it is most likely outdoors. I guess we will find out soon. GD!
Fuzz Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Why can't I live in LA or at least california? blame your parents and grandparents. bastards.
Prisca Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Citywalk makes so little sense that you shouldn't even get an opinion now. Lol? It's summer and CityWalk is Universal. Plus the movie theater and the Gibson amphitheater is right there. Cannot see how this is even logistically possible. The only way is if it is for a music video and they paid AMC and Universal a boat load of $. Actually it kind of does make sense. They have bands/artists perform there in the summer and it's free for whoever is there. I'm not talking about a music video in the works, I'm only talking about their performance there.
foxboro1234 Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 No. It makes absolutely zero sense. The bands they have play on that 30x30 stage 25 yards from the movie theater are regional bands that have a teencie following, not a massive national power-house. Forget the fact that it would be the night after a summer (presumably weekend night) at Universal, not to mention the fact that there is a show at the Gibson Amphitheater (CityWalk) on both Friday and Saturday night...Wait, don't forget those facts, those are the main reasons. A concert by Green Day for people just to show up would be a disaster for CityWalk. The most important fact is it's not fortified. It would be virtually impossible to gate off an area in front of that stage and the last thing they want is thousands of people closing down CityWalk. Plain and simple. The ONLY way it could possibly be there is if it is indeed a music video and they spend a ton of fucking money on gating, lighting, staging, and security...etc...and have to get the agreement of Universal and AMC and probably some of the other venues like BB Kings which is right upstairs from that stage. Yet another thing, if it is a music video, why the fuck would Green Day want to shoot a music video in CityWalk? Lol. Sorry, just can't see any scenario where CityWalk is a possibility... I still think without any knowledge (and dammit Ive been checking) that it will either be at a bigger club like Viper or Troub or possibly at the beach somewhere. I have no idea really but just can't see CityWalk. Sounds crazy to me on so many levels. It would crash parking, exiting...too many innocent bystandards would be blind sided with their families and toddlers and shit. I work in the business and I have checked with venues, promoters, management, a friend that works at Live Nation and I can't find out shit. It's kind of crazy. Troub doesn't have any shows on Tuesday, maybe that's it?

Your post seriously amused me (but in a good way), especially the last part. Considering I didn't take into consideration the bands that have previously played on that stage, you're right, they aren't as huge as Green Day. So, the CityWalk is out of question, yay! I didn't want to drive all the way there from Costa Mesa.
TuneYouOut Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 With the "extra space" tweet, I highly doubt this will be contained in any couple hundred capacity club.
foxboro1234 Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 With the "extra space" tweet, I highly doubt this will be contained in any couple hundred capacity club. agreed.
-Billiejoezee- Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I'd totally dig another nokia show again. as i said 2 pages back, it'll be awesome if it was at the nokia.
-Billiejoezee- Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I completely agree that that would be fantastic. I always love to go to the AEG square no matter what but for a Green Day show that would be delicious. (or do you mean in the Nokia Theater, or Club Nokia)? EDIT: I would be less surprised if it was at one of these venues. I was thinking when you said it, in the courtyard area there. I've seen a bunch of set ups for outdoor shows there. This is a fun guessing game for whatever reason but I wish I knew already. Ha Well you know, at the Nokia Plaza across from the staples center, like last time! That was such a great spot to do a free GD show.
Prisca Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Well you know, at the Nokia Plaza across from the staples center, like last time! That was such a great spot to do a free GD show. Most definitely! And waiting in line with everyone was awesome, too! seriously loved the nokia gig they did.
-Billiejoezee- Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Last time I was a bit of a loner in line because i forgot to ask for phone numbers to meet up with people, so maybe this time i can say hi to ya'll.
foxboro1234 Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 How did it go last time? Do you just walk up to the place?
Prisca Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Does anyone know about how long the other secret shows were? 2 hours? How did it go last time? Do you just walk up to the place? For the nokia gig, you had to wait in line until like 7 p.m. They started letting us "file in" and the show didn't start until 9:15.
