When you're looking at the show through your screen. But in my last Green Day concert I recorded many songs just putting my camera in the barrier (they weren't great videos, but it makes me feel the show again ) and I just stopped paying attention to the show when I took a few pictures with zoom, and I think it was worth it. Seeing cameras doesn't make me not enjoy the show, how could it? But I do feel kinda sorry for that people , because they're probably not enjoying the gig as much as they could.

It takes the focus right out the concert because you are putting an effort to record it instead of living in the moment. I had my phone with me in my first gig - Green Day at the S.E.C.C ( 21st June 2010 ) and I was gonna record the show but the minute green day came on I felt the need not too. I wanted to feel the way that Green Day makes you feel. What I am saying is that you can record the upcoming show if you want too ( no ones stopping you ) but you are taking away the energy and focus from yourself. There will be new songs played and it's important that you embrace the new music in order for you too enjoy the show.

If people have their cameras up taking photos so it kind of blocks your view, that's not very different than when Billie Joe tell the crowd to put their hands up and clap. The stage might be a bit blocked still, but the beauty of a concert is that you don't need to see the band members for the solid 2-3 hours to enjoy the music. I've closed my eyes completely during a show so I could just experience it, even if just a brief moment, through sound. It's pretty amazing. I don't care what people do while they're at the show. I can still enjoy it in my own way. I'm more bothered by the pricks pushing to the point of uncomfortableness than people holding up a camera. But the pushing is just part the show, so I can deal with it and still leave with an incredibly happy memory. I never said I didn't enjoy the show myself, but I don't understand why someone would pay good money to go to a show (and, yes, I know this particular one is free, but I've seen it happen at all kinds of venues) only to not pay attention to what's going on? And that's the other thing that gets me because, if you're going to be in the pit, you sort of *need* pay attention to the people around you, at the very least. Both for your own safety and as a common courtesy to others. Granted, this only applies to certain people I've seen at shows, rather than everyone with a phone/camera, but some folks sadly seem to be more concerned with getting that perfect shot of the band than actually watching out for their fellow fans. And, yes, the people who try to elbow their way up to the front are annoying too. Everyone, I'm sure, has certain people and practices that bother them at shows, including you, Andres (I seem to recall a podcast discussing boyfriends in the pit, for one). So I don't see why I should be patronized for expressing one of mine.

But yeah if you can't cancel then i hope it's not that day so you can go girl! I also hope it's not thursday...i have another interview that day.. About the camera stuff at shows, i usually take about 4 GOOD photos and that's it. And videos i take about 2-3 videos only, but what I do is that I hold the camera up but i'm not even paying attention to where i'm pointing the camera because i'm too busy looking at the band with my own eyes. I just like the videos because of memories. Just got a text from a friend who says she's at the show?!? Not sure if she's fucking with me or what!! I asked for details but she hasnt replied yet.
