Try not to let them! Your parents will soon forgive you and forget about it, but you won't! My parents wouldn't let me go to Milton Keynes in 2005, I cried for days and days, and then some more when it got to the dates of the show. They told me that by June I wouldn't like Green Day anymore and it was just a phase  I bet they wish they'd just taken me now, considering the amount I've used it in arguments for the past seven years.

Ahhh Milton Keynes, i had a GCSE exam on the Monday after that, so in the end my parents took me up to Milton Keynes (about a 5hour journey) and then back again just to make sure i got back. If i had missed that gig that they would have been exactly the same

I know but what if something really happens!? Then they'll be all "I told you so." I mean if I go and get to see Green Day that's super, but if things don't work out I can wait for the tour. Thing is, I'm off uni and have the money so the only reason for not going would be guilt.

My parents are on holiday so know nothing about my plans yet. Looking forward to that conversation when they get back tomorrow! I'll also have to beg them for money since I'm so poor, we'll see how that works out. Luckily they know that I'm 18 now and they can't stop me doing anything. I'm already going to Paris next week by myself to see them, hopefully London won't be too much of a big deal.

When I first got into Green Day, I spent a lot of time listening to them, talking about them, and getting my hands on every piece of merchandise I could, only to be told I couldn't go and see them because "it was just a phase" . That was 7 years ago, when will they learn

Having stupidly and regrettably done the same when Foxboro played London a few years ago, I can only say this: don't talk yourself out of a great night. What could possibly happen? Any reasonably sized venue in London will draw at least 20 people from here. Maybe more. So you go from the train station to the gig, where you proceed to wait with a bunch of fun, friendly people you already know. After the gig, you return to the train station with many of those same people, and wait for your train. At no point are you left alone to wander the streets of London, thumbing through your pocket for a rape alarm.

Come! Dance! Make awkward conversation with strangers! Dance!

Haha! You've made me feel better about it, but what made the Foxboro gig a "stupid and regrettable" decision? Plus if people from GDC were already in the queue I would feel bad joining them since I'd be skipping the queue, y'know? But you do make it sound so much safer than I picture it.

^ I've accepted that I'm gonna be at the back of the queue and the back of the venue if I do manage to get tickets, cause I hate people pushing in the queue but there's no chance I'll get there long before doors open as I usually would. But I'm cool with that I guess, it's nice sometimes to be off the barrier and having a good old dance, despite not being able to see or breathe  I'll save my obsessive overnight queuing for the proper tour. For a show like this I'd just be thankful for the opportunity of being there, if by some miracle I am.

^ totally agree Holly, if i can be there in London then (given i'm seeing them in Paris too) that will be me set and happy, no matter where i stand.

Paul is dead right about not worrying - i think far too many people don't do things, in particular travellling and seeing the world, because they worry about what could happen, or what's happened to others. but parents will be parents! If people from here go it'll be amazing and all we can do is try our hardest to get tickets...

... speaking of which i reckon if they do announce today then it'll be 17:00-ish at the earliest (BST) given the hours ahead we are of California (where i assume the people who will organise the announcement will be)

It's not that I don't do things or don't travel because of it, I'm swithering about this because I'd be going myself. But then I think I could find myself in the same situation when it comes to their official tour. I don't know, guess I'm gonna wait and see how things pans out. If it's meant to be it'll happen. If Green Day end up announcing the London show on the day of the show then I won't feel so bad because I can say I didn't have adeqaute time to get down there.

was trying to work out what "BST" was when I realised it was British Summer time, which I think you mean GMT (Greenwich mean Time)

Don't think so, we're currently in BST. The clocks haven't changed back to GMT yet.

Anyway, asked it a few pages back but no one answered. Does anyone have any idea what sort of price range we're looking at for tickets here if this happens?

You mean for the supposed London show? In my opinion tickets shouldn't exceed £35. Possibly around £25, give or take £5 or £10. Don't take my word on that though. Reading day tickets are £85 or something like that.

I spent the day before panicking about going, and ended up missing what was by all accounts an epic, one-off gig. Have been bitterly disappointed in myself ever since.

So you didn't go because you would have been travelling yourself?

well i was totally wrong about a 5pm announcement (it was only a guess). how about a 9.30 announcement Green Day? :)

I'm not even contemplating going and I am getting twitchy about the lack of info!

hey daria - totally appreciate how you feel. i was anxious about doing things alone when i was in my late teens and because people didn't want to do stuff i did i started to miss things i really wanted to do. so now going it alone doesn't bother me at all. I've travelled to China/N Korea alone, climbed Vesuvius alone, etc.. it's probably easier for some people than others though. only do what you're comfortable doing and as for this concert, as you say, if it's meant to be it's meant to be :)

If it's announced through a Billie tweet I wouldn't be surprised if we're waiting until the night before the show.

Wow! Climbed Vesuvius!? That's an achievement - with or without people.

But thanks, I'm still contemplating it. I might wait until the official announcement and see what the scoop is then. :D

Same. The guys are in Japan where it's after 6am at the mo, so an announcement could be coming in a couple of hours. Hurry uuuuuuup :runaround:

That's what I was thinking about :runaround: (about the concert in Rome though, but I think it's too early for an announcement)

i know this is painful! i've been checking twitter and this site again and again today! we must be on the brink of an announcement, must be

would it need the guys to announce it? i figured it would either be their 'team' back in Cali - unless Billie wanted to announce on twitter again!

As far as I know, Billie has announced all of the secret shows in the last year so I'd expect him to do it on twitter again :)

Definitely hoping nothing is announced 'til tomorrow afternoon. I'm off to bed now and then I'm back in work at 9 tomorrow! :/

Surely by this time tomorrow we'll know when it's happening and when tickets are on sale. I'm gonna be constantly checking twitter on my phone! :runaround:

would be gutted if they announced it the exact same time that tickets went on sale as it relies on being in right place at right time. hope they don't do this but as time goes on...
