tvrman Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 The concern I would have about Reading is that it is expensive and it would be a short set (the headliners only get 45mins, I think). Note; Reading is on TV every year so I will be keeping an eye on the schedules of channels like BBC3 and Sky Arts.

Guest Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Hey all. I just wanted to let you know that Reading is definite. I managed to get that confirmed by a lose contact I have who tours with the band. Not really anything new but I guess it helps to know from the inside! I know nothing else about the London show, so good luck!! Do you know what day on the festival? Not that I am going
tvrman Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 False. Headliners on average have anything up to 2 hours, sometimes even more. Ok. But I would not expect Green Day to get a long set as a 'surprise' guest, just thinking about people's money that is all.
diamondross Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Do you have any more information about it? No sorry. I think Friday is the most likely though. Could be main stage could be the car park...no point guessing with Green Day, just go with the flow and enjoy the stress!
Undómiel Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Right, so has anyone actually discovered any fact over the past 12 hours I was away?
swoolley Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Ok. But I would not expect Green Day to get a long set as a 'surprise' guest, just thinking about people's money that is all. Yeah you're right it definitely wouldn't be anywhere near as long as anything Green Day usually play.
diamondross Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Right, so has anyone actually discovered any fact over the past 12 hours I was away? A Giraffe has the same number of bones in it's neck as a Human!
Undómiel Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 A Giraffe has the same number of bones in it's neck as a Human! Really?! Holy SHIT?! :runaround:
Holly Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 In my dream last night loaaads of Japanese tv crew came to my holiday park and were interviewing us about green day. I begged them to tell me about the shows next week but they wouldn't. Sorry guys.
The Guy Called Kill Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 If they played Reading on Friday on the lock up stage then they could do Leeds on the Saturday. If you count the amount of bands on each day on that stage then there's one less band on the Social D day than the Less Than Jake day.
21stcenturyidiot Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Think I'm gonna stop reading this thread until the London show is over, this is faaaar too depressing. Has it been announced????
daria02 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Has it been announced???? No. That's the funny part.
farley drexel hatcher Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 If you are one of those twitter people hoping to buy three or four extra tickets just to sell on for "three times the price" and you're actually a fan, then you suck. Yes martyn I'm looking at you
Seanz25 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I know it's a long shot right but has anyone thought possibly a show in a small bar in Southampton. I'm not saying that because I live their but I remember reading in a magazine a while back that Green Day had a album launch party for a gig backstage down here years ago. Can't remember what album but it was around October/Nov time if I can recall correctly. Could make sense to play here in a bar like the Joiner's that fit's like 250 people but has hosted band's like The Beatles, Oasis, ETC. It's the type of venue they'd probably look at for secret shows. Doubt it though.

Not really anything new but I guess it helps to know from the inside! I know nothing else about the London show, so good luck!! this dude is legit/exactly what i've heard since yesterday. If you are one of those twitter people hoping to buy three or four extra tickets just to sell on for "three times the price" and you're actually a fan, then you suck. Yes martyn I'm looking at you I'm probably not gonna manage one!
farley drexel hatcher Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 this dude is legit/exactly what i've heard since yesterday. I'm probably not gonna manage one! Still a sucky attitude to have though. If you knew a fan had an extra ticket to a show you wanted to go to but was charging through the roof for it would like it? You expect it from scalpers, not from fans

You expect it from scalpers, not from fans I was only kidding, dw but agreed with my friends, if any of us get a spare - the other will buy it for slightly (emphasis on the slightly) more. think thats fair i'd kill to get even one though, i'll end up begging two minutes before doors probably!
Tashidge Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 You guys know how to give someone a heart attack, I'll give you that. I'm thinking that the London show would be some time mid week. Thought with this band nowadays, no one can be that certain. Guess I'll be seeing some of you on the day then?

I love the joiners and seeing GD there would make my life complete but alas, I highly doubt they would ever play there again...but hey, who knows. Those boys have a way of pulling surprises out the bag!

Those boys have a way of pulling surprises out the bag! Thought it was the Joiners, it's a superb venue. Tiny, but awesome. You don't know what album launch party it was there. Aslong as they don't play the guildhall then their fine. Horrendous venue.

Everytime I go there the sound quality is just horrendous! Luckily the bands/crowd normally make up for it. I've been seeing gigs there for 13 years now, it sucked then and it sucks now!
swoolley Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I'm new here so forgive me if this is stupid, and no offence intended. But who is this Martyn guy and why does he know, or claim to know so much? Not doubting i just cant help but notice that he has provided no real source for ANY information
Martyn Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Green Day at Reading seems like it's definitely happening. Expecting the Saturday, looks like the NME stage right now. Not a full set by the way. Obviously this might change last minute depending on the overall schedule and so on but extra Green Day for free?!? (considering i was going to Reading anyway) i can't complain!
