Rai Rai Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Fingers crossed for a small(ish) gig in London. Last time they played The Garage at Islington I had left London the day before!
Isabel Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 But if it is them that is playing this secret set on the lockup stage, is the emphasis not supposed to be on 'secret' ? Surely if they were doing that then they wouldn't have printed Reading on the t-shirt? Everyone will know about it.

Probably a mistake or they weren't supposed to yet...also lists the unannounced Rome show! Could always announce them pre-festival and not be so "secret" then.....just all very weird
TheJedi Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 are you sure it'll be next week? i need to know!
Isabel Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Probably a mistake or they weren't supposed to yet...also lists the unannounced Rome show! Yeah, but something like Reading fest, would they not be more careful? I dunno, it all just seems a bit strange...
GuitarPunk94 Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 this is all soo exciting..you never know what could happen next in the world of GD
Guest Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 I really don't see how they could play the Reading festival due to everyone probably stampeding in, if they're playing a smaller stage... Plus, don't R&L have a rule that you can't play any more gigs in the UK within a certain time period before/after playing the festival? Or did I make that up?
Martyn Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Plus, don't R&L have a rule that you can't play any more gigs in the UK within a certain time period before/after playing the festival? Or did I make that up? this only applies to large bands on the lineup, used to sell tickets. and small venues are allowed for a lot of them. a secret addition like green day have no rules like this. if that rule even exists! The rule about the time period can't be true because Rock N Roll Damnation books all the big rock bands that are playing R&L to play up in Scotland while they're in the country. Eg in 2007 there was the Fueled By Ramen show in London on Thursday night (Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, The Academy Is..., Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes) and all those bands played Reading and Leeds over the weekend, in fact Fall Out Boy played the festivals on Friday and Sunday and played in Edinburgh on the Saturday night so I'd assume Green Day are okay to play another show. Considering they've not even been announced I'm not sure such a rule would apply to them anyway, surely if you know that as a rule you wouldn't suspect them to play at Reading if they play London the night before! Think the rule is "no england shows" not "no uk shows" but yeah

LittleBoyNamedTrain Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 are you sure it'll be next week? i need to know! Well, if I'm not mistaken, the shirt lists the locations in order of date. And since Paris is in two weeks' time, that means London is definitely next week.
San Miguel Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Have been following this thread from twitter all day! God i still can't really relax at the thought of an announcement - was hoping it would be today but finger's crossed for tomorrow. you'd think with them playing Japan Saturday and Sunday then there will not be a show Monday or Tuesday next week for travel and jetlag so i'm hoping for something to take place Weds - Sat. just wish we could know now to plan etc..! i'll be in Paris on Sat so that's out for me. If they do play Reading festival then great news for everyone on here that's going
TheJedi Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 they'll probably announce it when everyone in england is asleep haha xD
netty Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 London show next week, announcement soon (hopefully!). "Secret show" in the UK on the same weekend as Reading/Leeds. Some tour shirts from the Japanese show last night apparently mention "London, England" and "Reading, England" I`ve got a question for you. are you behind the failed "rumours" site? or were you involved with it? you do seem to be the focus of the rumours at the moment and in the past this kind of thing has been discouraged as much as possible. I know there are people who know more than they are letting on but....you seem to have made being the focus of this whole thing your raison d`etre!
colour_me_stupid_ Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Wow, flights are not gonna be cheap Would they ever fucking hurry up and announce the shows, the cats out of the bag now anyway. Why must they keep us waiting?! Have you had a look at them? How bad? :/ I know well I can't go over but.. a little part of me would try for the craic
Green Day Jamie Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 If its a secret show, can you usually buy tickets in advance to these? Or is it more of a thing where you have to queue up before hand outside the venue? Just don't wana get my hopes up knowing I won't be able to risk the journey if the tickets wern't guaranteed sort of thing.
TheJedi Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 i just saw a picture of a shirt from the Japan show they played today.. Green Day are gonna play both Reading and London?

Mary711 Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Are there still any tickets for Reading left? I mean just in case.
gmcloughlin Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Have you had a look at them? How bad? :/ I know well I can't go over but.. a little part of me would try for the craic Yep, Shannon to Gatwick return anytime next week is gonna be over €300 at least with Ryanair! I'm used to getting the lovely "no tax" fares
colour_me_stupid_ Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Yep, Shannon to Gatwick return anytime next week is gonna be over €300 at least with Ryanair! I'm used to getting the lovely "no tax" fares Ah here, fuck that!
Requila Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Are there still any tickets for Reading left? I mean just in case. Weekend and Sunday-only tickets are sold out, but there are still Saturday and Friday tickets available. I would be surprised if they'd announce the surprise set more than a day beforehand though, especially if they don't play the main stage.
purplebenny Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Ah here, fuck that! you can get the bus for 40 quid though from limerick to london and another 40 return
netty Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 nope, nothing to do with that at all! so why do it? you know something...supposedly. but you aren`t actually helping people. you are just winding people up.
