How did you get into Green Day?

I was very young, can't remember how old I was exactly, but an exchange student from United States came to my house to stay for a month with my brother and us. So she showed me Warning, while she was listening to it in her disc-player. And I'll always remember that fact. However, I don't think I really got into Green Day until I was 13 or so, when American Idiot came out and I saw American Idiot's vid on MTV. So typical, I know. But yeah, even though Warning was my first experience, I sold my soul to American Idiot!

I was 11 when I heard BOBD for the 1st time. I thought it was a great song, but I only fell in love with it when I started learning to play the guitar a few months later. It was the first song I learned to play, and when I told my teacher how much I loved it he copied AI for me. I adored it, and realised I had heard Basket Case and Good Riddance before that, not realising it was the same band. From then on I started looking into all their older stuff and realised I'd never come across a band that I liked so much. As time went by I began to realise that this band was extremely important and special to me. My mam thought it was a phase, but here I am 7 and a half years later more in love with my boys than ever before

My older brother had two of their albums. I stole them, listened to them both, and fell in love. Simple as that :)

It was a coincidence, my aunt was into rock, punk and stuff and I heard Minority, it was so fucking awesome, then warning, after almost 5 years I heard American Idiot and I knew that was the right band for me :)

About 4 years ago, my brother wanted me to see the video to American Idiot, but since I was preoccupied at the time, I didn't care too much for it. To me, it was a bunch of middle aged men prancing around like maniacs. I thought that the slime busting out of the speakers was cool, though. A short while later I wanted to see it again. I liked the song, and looked up more. Found Boulevard of Broken Dreams, and here I am today.

I saw American Idiot on tv. It was love at first sight.

My friend and I went to see Green Day about a month (or 2 months) later. We had the worst seating tickets, and because it was such short notice, I only knew the American Idiot album, but it still was so amazing!

So I came home, I bought all the other albums, fell in love with every single song, and well.. y'know. :)

To tell the truth I knew AI, WMUWSE and BOBD in 2006 but I was too kind, nice and nerd girl to listen to record called American Idiot and punk rock band. But on 19th April 2009 everything changed. My dad switched channels and on music channel I saw for the first time Know Your Enemy. And than it started.

I started listening to Green Day back in early 2008.

They were there when no one else was.

The kid however has moved on. Makes me sad that he's no longer my little GD buddy.

I genuinely thought he was dead when I read that.

The genius bar on iTunes. I was like 12 and finally decided that the poppy stuff I was listening to sucked and I saw Green Day on the side and I remembered that my Brother and my Mom listened to some of their stuff when American Idiot first came out and I had completely written them off cause my brother listened to them so I just kinda assumed they sucked, but then I listened to them and instantly fell in love. It was towards the end of 2008 though when there was no news yet so for a while I was sooooo scared they had broken up or something cause they were already my favorite band.

A friend played East Jesus Nowhere for me in 2010. I instantly fell in love.

I originally heard of them when I was about three and my mom would always listen to Dookie; I don't remember if I ever had an opinion on the music but it was my favorite album because of the poo.

And when I was 13 my dad was watching Bullet in a Bible on tv and I sat down to watch with him because of "the hot short guy running around the stage" If my memories correct.

Nice to hear all the stories. I kind of feel a little dated when I read other's answers. I first herd them when I was 15 years old, which was about ya...........................17 years ago. LOL I got completly hooked when I herd "When I come around". That album was my bread and butter back then!
