Does anyone else have the worrying thought that this trilogy would be a way of a band finishing their career?

Their 40 not 90.

Thank you! Really, that was nice from Billie :D I think that, at some point, all of us thought about this as some kind of goodbye. I really hope they keep playing till they can't do it anymore (for actual limitations, not arguments/family/interests).

No, I have never thought about that :P Maybe because I listen mainly to the bands, which play at least 20 years :D For me trilogy is a masterpiece as they have a lot of ideas and want to give us happiness. Or guys have a midlife crisis

No, I've never thought of that actually. "We're in the most prolific time of our careers, so we're breaking up after this" just doesn't seem right or coherent. If their were announcing a trilogy of greatest hits, then I'd worry :P lol

Oh well. There goes my theory xD I just hope they don't have another long break after this one.I'd love to have 1-2 year gaps again.

i never thought about a break up too. they are in their best years. it doesn´t seem like that there are any problems in the band and if you watch videos of their last tour, they enjoy playing shows and they love their fans ( i never heard of a band who has setlist with more than 40 songs :D ). they are in their best years. i

I actually think that if that should be the case, then not planned. I think they're releasing this triology because they're creative as hell at the moment and they want to live it out, not with intention to break off. I just don't believe that this is the case. :)

yeah I think that too.. I've never really thought about a break-up.. but I think it's just that their in a great moment. Maybe they'll let pass 1 or 2 years after this.. but I'm pretty sure they'll come back with new stuff

Anyway.. why are we already expecting new GD stuff when we're still waiting for three albums, and tours and a new ''era''? :)

"This is my favorite show we've ever played in Manchester. And I swear to god I would never want to be in any other band than Green Day I hate when bands break up, all of my favorite bands either someone has dies or they've broken up- I have no idea. It's like your parents or something. But you've gotta to wheel me away in a fucking coffin to get me out of this fucking band."

they CAN'T break up. there should be a law that says that Green Day are not allowed to break up. xD just kidding.. but i dont think they will :D

That never cross my mind... about GD splitting up. My concern now is what's coming, the albums. And not starting to wonder "what if they split" or some other shit and negative stuff.

This is how I see it: We can't live without Green Day, they can't live without Green Day either.

just speculation since this is such a huge project - i would be really upset if they did end it after this

I'm kind of shocked this conversation is still going on. People, they're NOT going to "break up", calm down. I could see them possibly taking a couple years off after this project is done to recuperate, but this most definitely is not the end. They're in one of their most creative eras of their careers, so ending everything after this is over just doesn't make sense to me. It's not going to happen so I think it's safe to move on. :P

They better not break up or stop making music. :( But when you think about it the three album trilogy does seem kind of like the end of it.

they won't

When I think about it, I just see it as a great start of a new era. There have been bands around for longer than 20 years with less chemistry in the band than Green Day. There is no way they would quit the band just like that.

Seriously what would be the point in them breaking up?

"Oh hi Mike, i'm bored, wanna start a band? And Tre, you too? Okay let's call Jason up too ... oh wait"

Didn't Billie say it was some kind of 'goodbye' album or smth ?

no, no he did not, not at all

no idea where you heard THAT from

Billie has been quoted as saying the only way you could get him out of Green Day was to "wheel [him] away in a fucking coffin". I was talking with my dad (who is as big a Van Halen fan as I am a Green Day fan) and I pointed out that unlike VH, Green Day goes through band therapy and works their shit out before it becomes a problem. So I really don't think we need to worry about them :)

Why the hell should they break up? Look at the studio videos, they seem to have more fun at doing their thing than ever. Thus, come down and look forward to new music!

Am I weird for never even considering that they might break up? Billie's not bullshitting when he says the only way anyone leaves the band is in a coffin. I honestly believe that they're doing this because they're in such a creative phase right now and have too much awesome to just fit onto one album like usual. Hence why I'm not worried about all the songs being 'average' either.

I find it strange this conversation is still going on. They are not breaking up, they are in fact releasing 3 brand new albums and kicking off a new tour cycle in tandem with these albums. Focus on them instead of idiotic rumour mill of when the band will finish, it aint happening any time soon guys. Calm your tits

I'm not ashamed to say, I genuinely cried that day. There was tears and everything!! I've never been happier!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

They go to therapy!? Really? I mean, is that true? Confirmed? Wow it would be so cool to watch a session :)

they don't *go* to therapy. they've made fun of metalica for actually going to group therapy. they have their own style, where they just let it all out to each other. there was a bunch of stuff written about it when they almost broke up during the American Idiot writing period

Oh, they almost broke up? I had never heard that. And thinking now that they almost broke up before writting their most successful album...
