21st Century Breakdown's really tough. I mean, there are a few songs that are just "great" for me, so anything I vote for won't be the whole truth in some ways. I just kind of let my hand pick one, and it went to 21CB itself....I'm thinking it's because listening to it for the very first time was a pretty huge moment...finally getting to hear what those two piano notes were all about, leading into a rollicking 5 minutes that laid out exactly what this album was going to be. It was going to be a bigger, more explosive album than American Idiot, and potentially more epic. So there, it kinda makes sense to me why I voted for it now. EJN and American Eulogy are super nice, but 21CB puts the whole feel of this album right into the palm of your hand. Besides....that ending...

And "See the Light" is like that annoying step-child that gets locked in the basement.

The song has a slow start, but once you get to the "Know Your Enemy" part, it really starts to rock out.

It was a though decision between this, EJN, and American Eulogy.

Tough, tough, tough. I finally went with American Eulogy (which kinda surprised me). I've been listening and re-listening to this album all week and there's a lot of really great stuff here. Very difficult to pass up Horseshoes And Handgrenades...I mean, it starts with Billie screaming "I'm not fuckin' around!"...what's not to love?

East Jesus Nowhere was a close second, or maybe Static Age was second...I dunno. Also loving Last Of The American Girls and Christian's Inferno (I've got a nephew named Christian!). Very strong album all the way through.

Just because it was the first song of that powerful album I really was into. I can remember that day.. We went to buy some new plants for our garden and the most lines of that song stuck in my head so hard that I just HAD TO sing them.. and now every time I hear this song I can see the flowers again we bought there. (they looked like the one from the peacemaker logo )
