bjrules Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 God, this is by far the hardest to choose from. American Idiot is my favourite album of all time, and I can honestly say that, at one time or another, each of the songs has had a period of time as my favourite. I really don't mind what song wins from AI, as I love them all, but I think I'll have to vote for American Idiot itself, as that is the song that got me into Green Day, and as such changed my life forever
parisGreenDay Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 where the bum is Jesus Of Suburbia? i am i missing something? :angry
ltrbmb17 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 That is really the hardest album for voting for the best song. I love all of them! so I won't be original. And my nickname explains my choice. Letterbomb! (though for me Jesus of Suburbia remains the best of the bestest songs ever!)
pasalaska Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 where the bum is Jesus Of Suburbia? i am i missing something? :angry read the first post woo Letterbomb is tied!
ltrbmb17 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 where the bum is Jesus Of Suburbia? i am i missing something? :angry i think it's missing because it was the best GD song in the first voting.
Emilie Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 This is most likely a really unpopular opinion, but - with the exception of JOS and maybe St Jimmy - none of the songs on AI have ever really been a favourite for me. So St Jimmy was the obvious choice.
ConfirmPassword Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 No JOS? That's fair but I thought this would be an easy one! Now I don't know what to vote
San Miguel Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS! This song is by far my most favourite song of all time, let alone just from American Idiot (my fav album of all time). The song holds a special place in my heart and mind, and I guess the main reason is that I feel it reflects everything about me, in a way far better than I could attempt to convey on my own. Part of what makes it so great is that despite being so powerful nothing about the song is that complicated - the main rythym is what? four chords, swapping one of them for the chorus. The lyrics, (to me) a short story of loneliness and reflection, are not overly complex and the key messages are repeated over and over. And yet, all I have to hear is that opening echo of guitar, or the first few words and I'm completely and utterly encauptered by the song and the emotions it brings to the surface. Typical of this album, the song has a kind of second stage to it and is taken to another level by the creshendo of guitar late on in the song that follows the line "i walk alone, I walk a..". usually followed by Billie screaming in live performances. I love when he does that, and the twisted laughter as the song ends. I could go on, I mean I haven't even touched on the the Grammy award winning video yet, the story progression between Holiday and BOBD, etc.. etc.. but i'll shut up now! I doubt BOBD will win through this round - if I were to bet i'd say Holiday or Homecoming, and I'm certainly not begging for people to vote for it. I'm just taking this opportunity to say it's the out and out best song for me and I can't show it and Green Day enough appreciation. (sorry for the essay - it's mainly because I love this song so much but also a little bit because I tend to only write short and often stupid comments on the forum. In that vein - jeez, San Miguel and BOBD should get a room right?)
Clayish Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Letterbomb is the best song on the album. Most important to the story aspect, most emotion, just an incredible song. Not sure if Green Day will be able to top that song.
armatage Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Voted for Boulevard of Broken Dreams, as cliche as it is. I was in between BOBD, Whatsername, Homecoming and Letterbomb. Even though I love four of them a lot, BOBD is just something I can listen at any time and get in the right mood for the song. Surprisingly, it's not winning, like I thought it would be (as it happened with Minority/Waiting). Anyway, I'm rather happy that it's a little behind other non-single songs.
GuitarPunk94 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Homecoming!!..i definitely want to hear this song live sometimes
Katarina. Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Oh, that's more difficult than I thought! It's gonna be either Letterbomb or Homecoming for me. I voted for Homecoming now, but I might change my vote. Both songs are so great (understatement)! Edit: I already want to change my vote to Letterbomb now.. Guess I should flip a coin
Artificial Idiot Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I choose Homecoming by Y U NO HAVE JESUS OF SUBURBIA??
frunsi Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I choose Homecoming by Y U NO HAVE JESUS OF SUBURBIA?? read the first post. HOMECOMING FTW!!!!
ANJI Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I chose BOBD as it was the first song i heard by GD and the song that got me into them
Undómiel Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I don't know if this is true or not, but I suspect that the Musical recordings of some of these songs, could be changing people's judgement.
Hermione Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 I don't know if this is true or not, but I suspect that the Musical recordings of some of these songs, could be changing people's judgement. Hmm I know the Letterbomb one is popular, but Letterbomb was super popular already so I don't think it makes much difference. Could be having an effect on Homecoming though, it's always been my favourite but I didn't think it was very popular. But then again that might just be because of JOS being removed. Also I would've thought if the musical was having an effect it would've helped St Jimmy do better, very surprised at how few votes that has. I've only listened to most of the musical songs once or twice though so I can't really judge . Do most people listen to them regularly?
Karol Oliveira Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Aahh, it's so damn hard to pick just one! I have to choose among Holiday, St. Jimmy, Give Me Novacaine, Letterbomb, Homecoming and Whatsername (just half of the options)!!! Went for Holiday. Sorry the other ones...
Brigister Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Didn't even think about this, Letterbomb for fucking life
DecanoLP Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Homecoming. Second best Green Day song in my opinion
lizziebix Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I've only listened to most of the musical songs once or twice though so I can't really judge . Do most people listen to them regularly? I don't, but I do "hear" the harmonies from the musical in my head when I listen to a number of the original Green Day songs.
WestboundSign! Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Letterbomb got my vote. This song is pure perfection.
ghesboro Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Lol I think you might be correct. I'll be voting for the wonderful Homecoming though I voted for Homecoming too. It's just amazing That was a hard choice, though
