frunsi Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 blood sex and booze and castaway are my favourite songs off my least favourite gd album. i think i'll have to choose blood sex and booze, because it reminds me a bit of hitchin a ride, which is my favourite gd song of all time...
TheJesusOfSuburbiaIsALie Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Warning is one of my favourite albums so this is pretty tough for me. The album has such amazing songs! I'm pretty stuck between Hold On , Macys Day Parade, Church On Sunday and Waiting. I think I'll go with Hold On
Sixtrix Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Quite a delightful surprise that Misery is doing so well!
Katarina. Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Warning is such a great album, I love it. To choose a favorite song though.. Hold On, Waiting or Minority? I'll decide later
WestboundSign! Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Actually, I was pretty sure I'd vote for Church on Sunday. But now that it's the Warning poll's turn I'm confused if I shouldn't vote for Waiting. And so this amazing song got my vote. But I can't promise I won't change it to Church on Sunday.
DecanoLP Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Church On Sunday is one of my favourite Green Day songs ever, no contest on this one. I'll never understand the love for Misery though
Brigister Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Actually, I was pretty sure I'd vote for Church on Sunday. But now that it's the Warning poll's turn I'm confused if I shouldn't vote for Waiting. And so this amazing song got my vote. But I can't promise I won't change it to Church on Sunday. Yay to this, you did the right thing It just makes me a bit sad that Deadbeat Holiday has got no votes
PaulS Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Finally, one of my picks getting some play! Joint first as I type. So, clearly the answer here is Church on Sunday, which is happy without being cloying, and beaten-down without being depressing. The melody found another home in The Static Age, but it was perfected in a 3 minute slice of pop nine years before. This is a very consistent album, so there were a bunch of runner-ups. Blood Sex and Booze is the best Foxboro Hot Tubs song they never wrote. Misery is unlike anything they've ever done, and serves as a wonderful strange interlude without being Last Ride In. Deadbeat Holiday has one of their very best chorus lyrics. Waiting kinda feels like the odd-one out on this record, and is actually closer in many respects to the new songs they're recording right now; very straight-forward rock and roll, with a lovely cadence borrowed from Petula Clark's Downtown. Minority has a dodgy chorus but continues to work wonderfully live, and Macy's Day Parade is - in some respects at least - better than Good Riddance, and I'm pleased it occasionally gets an acoustic showing at the end of their shows. Some really great lines on that one, continuing and extending the themes and luscious imagery of Misery. So yes, Church on Sunday. But I'd be happy if Misery won too, just to get some recognition for their strangest creation. I really wish they'd play more of these songs live, though. Le sigh
ghesboro Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 It was really difficult, but in the end I chose Blood, Sex and Booze. I'm in love with Castaway, but Blood, Sex and Booze is simply amazing, totally and utterly amazing
Cameron. Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Deadbeat Holiday for sure is my pick. It's scummy and dirty, smells like cigarettes, and it feels like that postcard sent to you from some shitty hotel by your step dad. I also really like the Christmas jingle that plays during "Christmas lights in the middle of August," and it's not even that cheerful for a Christmas tune, it feels like the ringing of the bells was effortless and the person was forced to ring them, so he/she didnt put their heart into it. I dunno man, I just fuckng love this song.
Disapperingirl Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Castaway has a sooo catchy rythm, Minority is one of the symbol songs of Green Day with its straight, honest great message, and I love the "fuck'em all" part. But Waiting for ever and ever, I can sing it for hours and I enjoy watching the video so much
July21 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 love the different instruments used for misery, they make the song something special and i love that. and i really love castaway, it's so catchy and makes me wanna jump all the time but my all time favorite's church on sunday so it'll get my vote!
Harry Potter. Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 For me it's Fashion Victim just a tiny bit better than Waiting.
WestboundSign! Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Yay to this, you did the right thing It just makes me a bit sad that Deadbeat Holiday has got no votes Yeah. Seeing a song got no votes is always a little sad. But cheer up, two people have voted for it
desertrose Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Had to go for Macy's Day Parade. A brilliant piece of songwriting.
Göta Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Ahh, this is hard. I'm sort of stuck between Castaway, Deadbeat Holiday, Minority and Waiting. Hmmm.
Elena Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 aw damn, i have no idea what i should choose, warning is one of my favorite albums and i love ALL the songs equally...all songs are different to all the other songs from their other albums and every song is just so special and has amazing lyrics and a catchy melody...ahhhh, i just can't vote for any song ...seems like i have to listen to Warning about a million times this week, maybe i can decide then
ConfirmPassword Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I ended up voting for Minority because it has tought me so much. Anyway I'm going to my friend's house tomorrow. She has GDC but never uses it, so I'm hoping I Can sneak In on her profile and vote for Castaway . But what about Deadbeat Holiday then?
VisionsofGreenDay115 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 My second favorite album (or my favorite album before the AI era)!! Macy's Day Parade for the WIN!!! c'mon, its the best song on there... but i gotta admit my second vote would definately go to Waiting, then Minority...
Sixtrix Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Fashion Victim for sure I love the woah woah sing a long part. I'm sad they never play it live anymore. But I am very content with any song winning on this album. Especially Misery.
lizziebix Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I miss being able to see who voted for which song.
Lindsay Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Church on Sunday is my all time favorite song, so I think you know what my vote will be.
Bastard of 1967 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Tough choice, but I just voted for Church on Sunday. Deadly serious subject matter handled and arranged to perfection.
