green day is Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Duh! Jesus is a mexican name isn't it? I just realized, I wonder if mexican people do say "haysus of suburbia" Do people who speak Hebrew say Yeshua of Suburbia?
Satan Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 I love how this thread is 50% sarcastic answers and Mexican themed discussion, and 50% actual responses
Brigister Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Do people who speak Hebrew say Yeshua of Suburbia? I don't think so, as I'm italian and don't say Gesù of suburbia.
littlegirl-of-suburbia Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 I'd say 17 to 19 this thread has made me think that in french i should say Jésus de la banlieue
okotavio Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Maybe around 19 I guess. Did Billie even think in his age? Strange how all the posts made me think how I'd translate JOS to "jesus da favela".
classof12 Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 I think he's a teenager, around 17 but I think he turns 18 along the story
pretty_and_demented Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I would say, 19 or 20... If he didn't... y'know... he'd be almost 30
Annie, get your gun Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 I think he would be a teenager, like most people said 18-20. Does even matter?...
tabbycat1596 Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 18-19 After all, the line "teenage assasain executing some fun" puts the image of a teenager into my mind.
Mommy's Little Nightmare Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I'm gonna say late teens... However, in the musical, he was meant to be a 20-something.
Disapperingirl Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 As almost everyone said, I imagine it around 16-19 or so. That's the age of rebellion and everything But that doesn't prevent to imagine him in another way/older. I mean, we could find a Jesus Of Suburbia or St. Jimmy inside of a 50-year-old, to me. It's never too late to leave your home, take another path, fall in love and then find yourself alone, left by everyone who is "out without you, having fun".

ScatteredPictures Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I thought about that, too and I guessed he is about 20. I mean, he doesn't seem to go to school and he's driving a car so ...
zoflow101 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I thought around 18 to 20...not sure though
Bastard of 1967 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 18-19 After all, the line "teenage assasain executing some fun" puts the image of a teenager into my mind. You took the words right out of my mouth -- that's really the only lyric we have that comes close to pegging JoS/Jimmy to an age range. If I had to guess, I'd say 17.... I think that's around the age (Junior-Senior year?) that Billie Joe was when he dropped out of high school, and it's no secret how autobiographical his songwriting is. Also at that age you're easily old enough to get yourself into a shitload of trouble, without necessarily having honed the life skills yet to get yourself *out* of that trouble once you've found it.
