Hermione Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I have absolutely know idea what song I'm going to vote for in 39/Smooth or Kerplunk. With 39/Smooth I can't choose between Paper Lanterns or Going to Pasalacqua, and with Kerplunk I can't choose between 80 or Who Wrote Holden Caulfield With all of the other albums I'm fairly sure what song I'll be voting for though. And, probably a stupid question, but will Shenanigans be included as an album in this contest? Or will those songs just go with the list of general b-sides? Shenanigans will be included as an album, and we'll have a separate week for other b-sides.

Another way to do this is instead of a song from each album, sort all their songs in alphabetic order, divide that up in sections of ten (or fifteen or whatever) and then let everyone pick a song from that. That way you won't get the thing of people picking their favourite song from an album even though they like two songs off another album better than the song they picked from the first album. Wow that was a lousy explanation. Excuse.

Fuzz Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 To address people's concerns about how we've decided to split up the voting - we just decided that we'd have to organize it someway. Obviously the only real fair way would be to have a single poll with every single Green Day song on it. Then every song is pitted up against each other. But a poll with 200+ songs is unwieldy to say the least, so we decided going by album, then pitting up the favorites of each album against the other would make the most sense both in organization and interest.

Which will be cool Yeah, same here! Plus, I could never just pick one song out of 200+ songs. Narrowing down the choices is always a good thing.

xxSaintNikkixx Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I honestly wonder if it's a fair way to choose the 2nd best song by first narrowing it down by album. I mean, that's obviously the only logical way to narrow things down, but let's face it, some albums have songs that we love more than others, and if Kerplunk or American Idiot or whatever have more of the best songs, why should the 2nd best song on one of those albums, which may be better than the #1 song on another album, miss out? Not that I care that much, I'm just thinking how I can easily choose my favorite Insomniac song but I have many that I like more on other albums... I definatly agree, but this way's a lot easier to set up/organize. I'm looking forward to it!
