lifetime membership to the Idiot Club (let's say that means 5-10 years (or more)

Your initial assessment 5-10 years? Pessimistic much!

I was so excited to wake up to these news, to later find out it's just another design competion where you have to be a US resident to enter. WHY? It makes me so frustrated. Every Idiot Club member should have a shot. If it's the postage, it's not that expensive to send 5 t-shirts out of the country! But I'm guessing it's more complicated than that?

boooo US residents only :ermm:

Exactly :(

We should spam them with emails demanding entry for non-US residents

I have a feeling there's more to it than just the cost of shipping 5 shirts. I know a lot of American companies that can only make contests for US residents for legal reasons - but I don't actually know for sure why or if that's the case with this.

Ohh :( Wish it was for non-US residents and non Idiot club members too. Who knows, they might find a much better design if it was for anyone...oh well, good luck to everyone who enters :D

But then I'd say it's not okay to advertise with doing contest for members. We already had that a few times before now. Not only are the contests very rare but also not open to enter for all members.

So it's better to have no contests than some contests even if limited?

No, I didn't meant it that way. I just think that it's not fair that most of the time the same people are excluded.

Oh man, that's completely UNFAIR!

First I was all :woot: and then I read the "idiot club member" part, not even mention the part of being american. I feel heartbroken...

i am a member but English so can't enter - not sure my idea's would work anyway. i'd probably just go for something simple like;

"Gotta know your enemy RAW HAM" with a picture of some uncooked bacon

or a pic of Tre Cool eating the Apple logo with the quote "the iPad is stupid"

I'm a member of the IC, and live in the US, and love design stuff.... I'm SO entering! I doubt I'll win, but it would be pretty awesome. 8)

Hey, good luck! I guess you're the first one to say that would enter?

And well maybe GDA should have a worldwide design contest to end with this unfair thing, right? (just kidding)

GDA has a new shirt coming soon. Just got in the designs and they're fucking amazing. Can't wait to show you guys.

Brilliant :D and yes, when will we be allowed to bask in the awesomeness of this new design??

Posted

Just waiting for a final quote from the printer and hope to start taking pre-orders in the next couple days. So once we get it setup and priced we'll show the design. Hoping by Monday at the latest. I've wanted to do this idea for so long, I'm really excited it's actually going forward.

I'll stop hijacking this thread with my excitement.

You have to be an idiot club member to enter the contest??? ...AND an american resident??

I'M NEITHER A MEMBER NOR I'M AMERICAN!

So... you're not an American Idiot?

Posted

I wish I could somehow give my American citizenship to some of you guys that are in IC and want to design a shirt. I feel so bad for the people that aren't American and really want to be a part of this. :(

:woot: Wow! I already want it!

Actually, I know you guys are looking to involve visitors and GDCers more, another way to do that is with the tshirt design thing. It'd be cool to do what GreenDay.com is doing, only for GDA. (And of course, I know you guys would make it worldwide.)

clever! :P

It's moments like these that I regret not having money or the ability to hack into Idiot Club member's accounts.

Thanks!! Yeah, I guess I AM the only one so far that has said anything about entering! LOL

You have to be an idiot club member?!?!

*Rage face*

I'm American and an Idiot!

I think I'm going to go for it, guys....

I already have a simple t-shirt design that I made for myself a long ass time ago (2010).

I'm going to do a new one for this tho...

...if they really just make it for americans cos of the money they would need to bring the t-shirts to another country....can't i design a t-shirt anyways - though i live in germany - and when i win fly to america and bring me my t-shirts to germany? ...i'd do that :D ...or if i don't have enough money for that and my parents wouldn't allow me i'd say that i don't need the t-shirts and buy them later if i really wanted them (or make them by myself :ninja: )

but i'm not a member of the Idiot Club
