This was a pleasant surprise. I personally enjoyed it.

I saw it and I was excited to see the boys at it again. I honestly don't care it's for a menswear line. I think it's really artistic and a great way to sell the line. And Green Day seems an odd pick for this advert but that's what makes it so great. I love it. And the whole "they're too punk for this" or "OMG WHAT? WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS?" You guys are just immature. It's just a commercial. Get over it. Just another piece of (excellent) art.

As a fan, once again I'm not so pleased with this... One thing, looks like the make-up is back, which I dislike alot. Also...modeling? I like them better with t-shirts and playing small club shows;-)

I was mainly thinking about the overuse of green screen while watching that. But, Billie on the wrecking ball was great!!!

Billie should be modeling dresses. I like the jacket, the other clothes are cliche'.

Just a bit weird. But it's good to see some more stuff from the guys rolling in.

I don't know, it kinda makes sad that they're acting in a commercial...

Hmmm. Not sure what to think of this. Fashion commercials? =/ I mean, I'm not going around telling them what to do, but why? I mean, they don't need the money as far as I know. I'm really not seeing the point of this.

That thing Billie is wearing is a kind of ugly rarely witnessed. Combined with the big blonde hair it's even worse. I am allowed to have the opinion that it looks like shit.

Them messing around on the iron ball thing was kind of funny though.

With you on this. On the one hand any positive exposure is a good thing, but on the other hand....I agree -- Why this? I feel sad to say that Billie looks just a little bit like Boy George in that video. Maybe it's the poofed-up hair -- whatever, it's not the public or stage presence we're accustomed to. Normally these guys' true selves are scrappy working-class punks. In this video they're portrayed as anything *but*, and I guess I find that veneer of phoniness underwhelming.

I'm also not thrilled at how the producer butchered the edits of the 21st Century Breakdown instrumentals. They had a good thing going there at the beginning but that died with that uber-choppy first cut. Anyone with access to the Rock Band mogg's probably could do a better job with that.

So this is one of those rare moments when I'm actually having trouble finding something positive to say about something involving Green Day. All in all, I'm glad the band got some exposure here but that only goes so far. Two thumbs-down.

Green Day's 'American Idiot' album was made into a Broadway musical. It ran for a year, was pretty damn successful and earned them a night at the Tonys.

So I think it's fair to say that at this point, they don't give a flying fuck what anyone thinks about them, and will continue to do whatever they want. :)

Fuck da police! I think it's cool, I don't think it's cool. I love it, I hate it.

It's something they obviously wanted to do so good for them! Pretty sure they couldn't give a flying fuck what we think of this. However...I enjoy it...I love fashion!!!!

My thoughts, 1) What the heck... 2) They look totally hot

Don't they have enough money?

Billie in that jacket = sexy beast 8)

Don't they have enough money?

more reason to suspect theyre simply doing this because they want to, not because they need the money

To be honest, I think good about that commercial thing. The clothes are untypical for Green Day, so it's something new! I'd like to see them beein dressed like that onstage on their next tour.

God no, I hope they won't wear something like that on stage! They are not My Chemical Romance. Of course the cloths have nothing to do with the music or their way of performing, but I don't think anyone needs the emo label flung at Green Day for wearing parade jackets. It also does not look comfortable enough to jump around in on stage for 3 hours.

Btw, I love MCR, and I'm not saying that they are emo...

Omg. I dont care about anyones opinion, but the photos are sexy. And I'm so in love with the "behind the scenes" photos

My, my! I swear, if a video surfaced of the boys reading the phone book, half the forum would be OMG THAT'S AWESOME, while a quarter would be, why aren't they recording? And the final quarter would be, they're sell outs (and every variation like that). (This would probably also be the reaction to a new album!)

So what's the big deal, really? They can do, and have done, whatever they like whether we, their fans, like it or not. I love that they live outside of the box of just being recording/performing artists. They are artistes and can, and should, be able to explore every avenue that comes their way that they find interesting. It's their lives to do as they please. They are not out to please us. That would not be Punk at all!

/okay rant over. :)

To me it's just that I don't know how you can square being a cynical, questioning punk band with doing adverts for $800 (or whatever they cost) jackets. I'm not holier than thou when it comes to bands 'selling out' because everyone has to or will at some point if they want to become part of or remain in the mainstream, it's just that this does seem a bit random when they aren't really known for their style or ability to shift commercial products.

Also, this isn't an 'artistic' thing. It's an advert. Iggy Pop didn't do ones for car insurance because he likes the font on the form and Jonny Marr didn't allow a Smiths song on a John Lewis advert because he's passionate about good quality bedding. They've probably done it for a nice cheque or pile of free clothes, not out of the goodness of their hearts.
