Billie looks like my Nana's old dining room curtains. Mike just looks odd. Tre looks fabulous.

I like the commercial and they’re looking really good in it. The only thing I’d remark is Billie’s hair color. Cause of the ad being in black/white and the white jacket, Billie melts with the background and looks a little 'pale', he’d stand out more with his hair black. But I'm all good :D

Sweet I found the thing to be pretty awesome.

Billie looks like he has a camel toe at one point in the video.

Ugh, fashion? Really?

I really don't like this idea... But if I'd ever saw an item I'd probably buy it... damn the power of using celebrities that I actually like to sell their products.

So this is what they are doing instead of making a new record?

How would doing this ad delay them from making a new record? They most likely did this video when they were already in NYC for a surprise concert in October. It probably took no less than a few hours in front of a green screen. And for all we know, the record could be finished at this point. Is the band supposed to spend every waking minute of their lives making the album until it's finished?

I know they don't spend all of their free time making this new album. I'm just saying that I think they have better things to do than making a commercial for a clothing designer.

Okay first, Billie Joe has just wayyy too much white on. For real. He doesn't need that much white.

Mikes hair reminds me of Dee Dee Ramone, but I like it that way.

Tre looks skinner.

I just, I cant IDK... What is this.

I like it better when Billie has no eyeliner.

This made my night!

I love this!! What a great surprise!!

I really enjoyed watching this. I think it's very well done. The black and white looks great.

This is just another example of how you never know what Green Day will do next!! The past few months have been full of surprises . . . from the surprise Green Day shows, to the "Hybrid Moments" birthday video, to Billie Joe and his family recording The Boo record, to this. This really gets me excited to see what Green Day has planned for 2012!!

It's so nice to see the guys . . . they look amazing!!

Thanks for making my day Green Day!!

 They should do a commercial for shampoo. with the ridiculous amount of attention Billie's hair is receiving from all directions, this would probably make a lot of people happy (I'm not trying to offend anyone or directing that at someone in particular, it's just a general observation)

I don't think there are many threads on this whole site where someone doesn't mention Billie's hair. It's just a usual topic - not that everyone approves of it, I know!

I don't have a problem with what they choose to do - and anyway, they usually have a purpose. I like the video and the clothes. (ok, and the hair - I had to!) I love how the theme ties in to those old time photos of workers on skyscrapers. It looks like they are just having a bit of fun. Looks like fun to me!

I don't know, if this is just one simple harmless ad that they did for fun then I have no problem with it. However, if lame yuppie fashion commercials is what we can expect from Green Day in 2012 instead of a new album then you can count me out.

I don't have any problem with them doing fashion stuff, I just think the video itself is dumb

I agree with B looking like a pirate, but I also think with that jacket he looks like a fairy tale prince risen from the dead.

I don't know what to think. The video is well done and it's nice to see them, and yeah, they look really good. But, I don't know, I think that putting themselves like that make them look like Disney stars or something.

They can do whatever they want but... Billie always explains this kind of things by saying that it was a challenge, or something someone offered and they just thought "let's go for it", and I support that musicaly (like the Broadway show and stuff), or when it's for a good cause (like the advert for NRCD), but why would they make a video for a clothes line? :ermm:

If you mean that you think a rock band doing an ad for fashion is comparable to something a Disney star would do, then I don't really see your point. John Varvatos clothing has an edgy reputation, and I wouldn't doubt that Green Day wear his clothes. Some of the biggest rock stars have supported and wear JV, including Guns N Roses who actually performed at the store for Fashion Week last year. I also highly doubt anyone considers Iggy Pop or The Roots anywhere close to Disney either. The store is also conveniently located in the heart of the East Village, on Bowery in the old CBGB's. None of this is "Disney."

And as someone else mentioned, the band has been involved in their own fashion lines and such. This isn't a new industry for them.

On a side note - I honestly have no idea how casting theater geeks to perform American Idiot in a Broadway/musical play is considered punk rock, but somehow this commercial for John Varvatos is the worst thing in the world. And I have nothing against the play, but that is probably the most un-edgy thing the band will ever do in their entire career in my opinion.

At first I was like, 'OMG, a new video featuring Green Day!'

Then I was like, 'Wait, what the fuck are they wearing ...?'

But then I watched the ending and I was all,

So it was kinda worth it in the end.

Also, those suggesting that writing an entirely new album requires the same amount of effort as riding around on a wrecking ball in a piratey jacket need to get real.

Whatever Billie had hanging from his pants, I'm going to call it an Ass Tassle.

It'd be awesome if less gifs were used in place of conversation.

Kinda weird wasn't expecting Green Day to be in fashion videos, but I guess they are the fashion victims. Ohh they are still so hott!!! The video is funny too lol. I most likely won't buy these clothes since they are too much for me and I rather save my money for concert tickets, CD's and T-Shirts for Green Day's next album.

Nice to see the boys back together, and the video was entertaining.. Billie's whole Michael Jackson/Captain Crunch look is pretty cool, I guess. Those clothes are probably ridiculously expensive. Mike is looking ace!

I went to the site and searched the size closest to mine and got 6 results, the cheapest of which was a $79 t-shirt. No thank you. He does make a pair of $900 boots that I'd kill for, though.

I want to have someone on the podcast who thinks this is a terrible idea.

Perhaps you should make a pole! Ugh sorry, someone had to.

They should do a commercial for shampoo.

Agreed. Only because I want to see Mike flipping his hair around in slow motion.

Come on! Marching band kicks ass. :P

It does! But not when you have to wear long-sleeved wool suits/pants in the middle of July!
