IscoredWaddlesgoals Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 This is not the first time Green Day has been a part of something fashion related. Billie Joe attended events with Adeline Street, Mike endorsed some clothing line a while back, not to mention working with MacBeth footwear as well. Don't act like this is suddenly the thing that pushes Green Day too far into another business. Yeah but Mike looked fit in his previous campaigns. He looks like a confused grandad in a nursing home watching his grand kids run round the communal garden in this.

Don't act like this is suddenly the thing that pushes Green Day too far into another business. But Adeline is something Billie Joe created with some people and they're kind of "underground". Macbeth is supposed to be an alternative line of clothing that many artists team up with, and I think Mike designed the shoes or something (?) like, you know, "punk rock shoes". I don't think it's the same than being models for this clothing thing. Just my opinion.
November's Storms Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 This is not the first time Green Day has been a part of something fashion related. Don't act like this is suddenly the thing that pushes Green Day too far into another business. Yeah but Adeline is Billie's record label, and as for Mike's work that was vegan friendly and generally supporting a good cause. None of that was annoying at all. But unless someone can inform me otherwise, this clothing designer just seems like the usual fashion industry type that Kanye West or someone should be bought in for (no misspelling), not Green Day.
adie21 Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Do those people exist? Haha yeah actually I know a lot of people like that.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 This is not the first time Green Day has been a part of something fashion related. Billie Joe attended events with Adeline Street, Mike endorsed some clothing line a while back, not to mention working with MacBeth footwear as well. Don't act like this is suddenly the thing that pushes Green Day too far into another business. Adeline was Billie's own label though, and MacBeth was a collaboration where Mike designed some shoes. Don't know about the other clothing line with Mike you mentioned, but those other two cases was with things they were involved in. This is a commercial for a label they have nothing to do with otherwise.

I just did a small bit of googling and I think other punk bands have worked with this designer in the past, it's not totally random.
HeißblütigerPinguin Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Plus, I looked at the prices. Faaar from being affordable
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Do those people exist? Yeah. Me, in a less obnoxious way. I don't see how that would relate to sell out cries, though.
Boston Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I think the clothes actually look pretty cool, not that I'd ever wear any of it. Thing is, I would wear them. I shouldn't wear them, but I totally would. And the bitches would swoon. But yeah, Green Day in them is also very nice.
princhess Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 what i'm a bit worried about, and i know this is probably pushing the discussion in this thread too far, is that there seems to be quite a lot of things that just distract from the great music they are making. nowadays it seems to be more about Billie's hair, making movies and now also commercials. i know they have had side projects before, and even though it's none of my business, i generally incourage going beyond boundaries. they should be allowed to do what the fuck they want, but to me, everything seems to be turning too far away from music.
Boston Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Plus, I looked at the prices. Faaar from being affordable Plus, I looked at the prices. Faaar from being affordable I figured. If they can afford to have Green Day do promo videos, I doubt its gonna be Target prices.
HeißblütigerPinguin Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I just did a small bit of googling and I think other punk bands have worked with this designer in the past, it's not totally random. like? (Please not Vivien Westwood and the Sex Pistols)
kelly42fox Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I love that the Green Day guys do whatever they want... Wreaking ball fun! This does seem a little unusual for them, and maybe that's why they did it... I'm not the biggest fan of them doing ad campaigns unless it's for their own stuff, but life goes on... To comment on the clothing: it's somwhere between 1930's bum, rock star, and living room curtains. ...wait... HAHAHA... with that description it's perfect for them... *d'oh* My problem with it is that its execution seems too forced... it's the 'rock star' element that makes it cliche... Too 'high fashion' for our boys. The layering and draping looks a little weird on Mike and Tre... Billie's oufit is well fitted (which looks GOOD), but the jacket details go too far... *shrugs* I would like to see more still photos from this shoot, tho.
Schlappy Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 oh boy!! Drama and discussion about something that's irrelevant in the long term! my favorite
sara_gd Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 like? (Please not Vivien Westwood and the Sex Pistols) http://en.wikipedia....i/John_Varvatos John Varvatos credits his early obsession with rock ‘n roll as the catalyst for his interest in fashion. A unifying theme in his design, it is deeply ingrained in all his efforts and evident in every expression of the brand. The memorable ad campaigns for the main collection—shot by Grammy-nominated music documentarian Danny Clinch—have featured such legendary icons as Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper and Velvet Revolver.
Laura! Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 This guy, John Varvatos, helps make Converse shoes. And he worked with Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper and Velvet Revolver. As with the video, I like it.
farley drexel hatcher Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 like? (Please not Vivien Westwood and the Sex Pistols) Google him, he's known for his punk fashion and hes also for put on events at the Bowery. I think he might have even opened a shop in what used used to be CBGB but I'm only scanning websites. I think he might have worked with iggy pop and possibly Jesse malin too. In short I can see a connection to green day for sure
The Snark Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Do those people exist? Is this an actual question or are you being sarcastic? oh boy!! Drama and discussion about something that's irrelevant in the long term! my favorite Thank you.
HeißblütigerPinguin Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I actually meant with other designers, but thanks for the info, have to check out that Iggy Pop collaboration.
eastbayweirdo Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Whatever Billie had hanging from his pants, I'm going to call it an Ass Tassle.
-Billiejoezee- Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I can't remember the last time green day did something where all the fans were happy about it. Whatever Billie had hanging from his pants, I'm going to call it an Ass Tassle. Billie's ass tassle should be your custom title. It would make a good one.
eastbayweirdo Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Billie's ass tassle should be your custom title. It would make a good one. Oh my god yes. But watching that, all I could look at was the ass tassle. And when Mike fell off lol
Annie, get your gun Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I don't see the problem, John Varvatos worked with many bands/artists for what I saw, and it's about combine music with clothes in my opinion. Green Day's not becoming models or anything. But I understand those who doesn't like it, it's something unusual. I just love that they're doing it together
