I voted for WWHC. I'll try to help by posting it on Facebook and stuff.

This is a good idea, I'd help with whatever song is chosen, I vote for WWHC though :)

Christie Road needs more votes people!

I would vote for it no matter what song it was up against (from any album!)

I just looked on here http://www.theoffici...om/chart-rules/

And it says:

So I take that to be the Kerplunk and the AAF versions would both count.

Hope that's true... I'm still skeptical and would feel better if we all agreed to do one version of it :S

Yeah I know what you mean. I think we should decide on one version, but hopefully it won't matter if some people accidentally download the wrong version.

I'm kind of in a boat where Holden is my favorite of the two, but objectively I think we have a better shot of getting the mainstream to appreciate Christie Road and catch on and help up the sales.

I actually thing 2,000 Light Years Away would have a better chance than both of those songs, in terms of more people that aren't 'big' Green Day fans latching on to it.

I have to agree... but here are the choices...

2000LYA is one of my favourite GD songs out of all albums but Christie Road is up there for me too

whichever song people decide on i'm up for downloading but agree picking one version only gives a better chance of success

i kind of thought that GD would release a 20th anniversary edition of the album - perhaps they are waiting for 25th or (i wish) don't have the time if a new album is on it's way

uhm...i also think it's better if we chose a version...and i'd be for the Kerplunk! version of whatever song we take, cos it's Kerplunk!'s b-day and not the one of AAF....also how about e.g. taking the Kerplunk! version that we're 100% sure that it all counts as one song, but if there are some people who really wanna download the other version, they can download that one or if some people download the wrong version by accident, then it doesn't matter, since - as some people said - it counts as one song and doesn't matter....just to be safe it would be great if the majority downloaded the same version

I voted for Who Wrote Holden Caulfield. If we could get a song on the charts, that would be awesome! The only problem is, would we realistically be able to get enough people together to do this?

i'm sure we'll find enough people ;) ...i'm gonna post it on facebook and on youtube, someone else also said that he/she will post it on some popular yt videos if we decided to take a song and i'm gonna do that too (we just need to take the most famous green day vids) ;) ....and if we get this project a bit more popular here on GDC...i think we can make it ;)

As we only have just over 2 weeks left now I think we should agree on the song that currently has the most votes which is WWHC as we need to start promoting the campaign on twitter/facebook/youtube/etc.

And for those wondering, I can't confirm for other countries but I know for a fact in the UK that the sales are combined for live and studio versions of the same song because that's what has happened for similar online campaigns (RATM and Nirvana as confirmed by the UK Charts company)

ok then i start with promoting it now ;) ...but when should we all start downloading?...one week before? or now? :D

I think it's best to actually have it in the charts for it's birthday (January 17th) so start downloading the week before, but the actual date will differ depending on your country (e.g. the UK would start downloading the song from 9th January because the chart for the following week would be the sales between the 9th and 15th)

ok, so when i write it on yt i write that they should start with that one week before :) (i hope the ppl are smart enough to realize that "one week before" means the time in their country  )

Maybe a mod would be nice enough to post a reminder on the home page when it's time to start downloading?

Yeah I plan on posting it early next week. Just need to make sure we give everyone the right dates and links and all that.

Well I hope that we can get enough people to buy the song. It'd be awesome of we could get it up on the charts.

I have nothing to add. :)

I think enough people check/follow GDA that we would have a positive turnout.

(Wouldn't it be cool if an editor employed at GD.com posted about it?)

Very cool, and not beyond the realms of possibility. That kind of thing would give this a shot at no.1 spot even, dare i say.

Yep! And I was thinking, isn't someone from GD.com a memeber here? I may be getting ahead of myself, but it would be awesome if the song got into the charts. And yes, with their help, the no. 1 spot is a definite possibility!

Yes, Brian is a member here. We'll see what he thinks :)

This would be so cool if it works. I really hope it does. It makes me wonder what the band would say if a song from Kerplunk made into the charts now, after all this time. :D
