It's pretty cool that he just sort of stood in the background playing and let the band do their stuff. Oh, and how could I forget. I figured out the one place where you can tell that Billie's aging. The colors of his beard are a dead giveaway.

He didn't take the opportunity to take any credit away from his son or from the band. He was simply a fill-in and acted appropriately. That was really sweet of him, because he could've really made a big deal about it, especially with Joey. I think he really needs to shave though!

What is so awesome is that we all know that Billie Joe is like, the ultimate showman, but he knows when it is appropriate to tone it down, too. This concert wasn't a night for him, and it sounds like he made sure the spotlight was on him as little as possible. I remember reading a little article with Joey saying how great his dad was with the whole recording process by helping them out but not telling them what to do. I think it is great that Billie Joe and Joey have mutual respect for each other as musicians.
