sara_gd Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 http://www.foxnews.c...g-after-flight/ Hmmmm....funeral for a friend in NYC? Doesn't it seen odd that it happened the day after Green Day played their secret show in NYC? And did she say that she was in hospital during that time? She also lied about that?
Tubbie Head Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 I think she definitely has a psychological problem, that makes her lie all the time.
captain peroxide Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/11/02/disabled-vet-says-was-forced-to-sit-in-urine-soaked-clothing-after-flight/ Hmmmm....funeral for a friend in NYC? Doesn't it seen odd that it happened the day after Green Day played their secret show in NYC? Yeah, we pretty much established that she lied about her mom dying to get the bereavement fare to fly to the show.
November's Storms Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 I'm not a huge fan of "Green for a Day" either, but "A Green Day Initiative" just sounds too official or business-like to me
Jet Taman Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Yeah, we pretty much established that she lied about her mom dying to get the bereavement fare to fly to the show. ?
Liam Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 ? She was on the flight going from Texas to NYC to see Green Day. She lied to them and said her mum died to try and get a cheaper flight but once the airline found out she was still alive she changed it to her friend who died
peanutgallery Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I created a new page for now to get away from gdatw and hopefully some of the negativity, just to get SOMETHING there to start planning next year, or give ideas... sounds like enough people want it to go on which I applaud! https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Rockin-the-Green/238942512827429?sk=wall And along Chris' idea... it can be something like a group name that sponors/supports a group event like "Green For a Day, sponsored by Green Day Across the World." "Rockin' the Green, sponsored by GDC". Something like that. There can be one umbrella that can host different ideas. Personally I want to do something July 7th/8th weekend in San Francisco... and even if that isnt THE day, I want to host an event to help celebrate Idiot's closing weekend with so many different folks in town. I figure there will be so many people there that we need to have SOME sort of gathering!

That's why I posted the "?" kind of like saying "Do you really feel the need to say that or do you just like correcting people since that's the only thing you've done in this thread". ....or maybe I'm just having a hissy fit and taking it the wrong way

Sorry you're in a bad mood or something, but correcting you wasn't the intention of my post at all. I wasn't saying "yeah, we established that" like "keep up with the news," I was saying it like "oh yeah, we worked out that she was doing it for these reasons, etc." Sorry you took it so negatively.
justcause Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I feel like this should be easy to name, like a bootleg. Or maybe something like 'Green Day Central', because that's what GDA/GDC is, and it could be like Green Day is central to whatever people wanna do, but they do whatever they want to celebrate that.
Jet Taman Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 That's cool man and yes I am in a bad mood. Sometimes posts are hard to know the tone so I apologize I took it the wrong way. Knowing that I was taken advantage of by Dawn kinda put me in a pissy mood. My apologies brother..
Chris P FaFu Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 "Carpe Diem" "one for the idiots'" "gda/gdc sponsors an idiot holiday."brainstorming.oooh ooh... "gda/gdc sponsors.. An Idiot Initiative" I cant help it.. initiative just as stephen said.. does sound official.. but in a good way.. like we are taking such and doing something positive.
Overjoyed Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 As owner of BJ guitars. com and maker of all the replicas, she asked me to donate several guitars to the charity. Of course I was happy to oblige and saw that one of them went for well over $1000. She then neeed several more to be sent to NYC that he was going to get signed at AI on broadway when Billie was performing there. I tracked the guitars online and saw when exactly they had been delivered... I'm so sorry for you, that's just insane. We've had another thread about this issue. It's closed now but you can read it, it's called Issues With GDATW and you find it in this chat on page 2.
Fuzz Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 I'm not planning on sorting out details for the next event until after the new years. A little time for all this stuff to settle and we can focus on the other things we're doing at the moment. After the holidays we can start focusing and get everyone involved in coming up with it (name, date, what we want to accomplish with it, etc.). I don't think a lot of people are paying attention to this thread and the on-going conversations about everything, at least, not a lot of the community since most weren't involved with GDATW. So, yeah, after the new years we'll have a new thread to start planning and help shape the idea with everyone.

I think he was confused about the flight thing because he hadn't read the previous thread that is now closed. So he wasn't aware of that the situation had been figured out already.
Tripe Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Jet, so sorry all that happened...and glad you got your guitars back in the end. What a mess that could have been! I think that incident with the airline was maybe the first thing that got a lot of us questioning Dawn and her truthfulness. There were scattered suspicions here and there before that, but it was the discussion of that incident and all the publicity that first started people putting two and two together. Apparently, the attention she craved was her eventual downfall.
captain peroxide Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 That's cool man and yes I am in a bad mood. Sometimes posts are hard to know the tone so I apologize I took it the wrong way. I wasn't trying to be snarky or anything, so sorry for the ambiguity there.
peanutgallery Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 "Carpe Diem" "one for the idiots'" "gda/gdc sponsors an idiot holiday." brainstorming. oooh ooh... "gda/gdc sponsors.. An Idiot Initiative" I cant help it.. initiative just as stephen said.. does sound official.. but in a good way.. like we are taking such and doing something positive. EXACTLY. Keep brainstorming! And yes, full steam ahead after January 1st. Give everyone time to let things sink in, enjoy the holidays, then move forward in a new year with new ideas. Green Day Central also has initials GDC. Shouldn't have both in my opinion as there is only ONE GDC!
Melafun Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I'm sorry all this happened but I really hope everyone can keep brainstorming I would love to take part in whatever happens.
Bastard of 1967 Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I feel like I need to come back in here and justify my original post, because, as usual, people have attacked me for sharing my feelings. Me as well -- not to justify mine, but to apologize for it and for some of the follow-ups that in hindsight might have unfairly criticized you and Marian. I had (incorrectly) thought that the prior GDATW discussion threads had already been pulled down before I returned from being offline for much of the US Thanksgiving holiday (which is when most of the truth about the situation seems to have come out). Instead of doing a simple search to find the threads and educate myself about the issues before running in here and shooting my mouth off, well, I ran in here and shot my mouth off. Someone else (correctly) privately called me on that already. That's uncharacteristic behavior from me and all I can do now is apologize for it. While I still don't agree with the namecalling that's occasionally gone on in these threads, the facts as we understand them now speak for themselves. I think it's terrible that so many of us were manipulated, and also that GDCers like you and Marian who were trying to put out the red alert got blasted for calling foul. We are a community and we've got to be better than that in the future. No need to justify anything further as far as I'm concerned. I've now finally read up a lot more fully on what went down while I wasn't paying attention, and I'm saddened, frustrated, and angry that all this had to happen to as good of a group as this board tries to be. But also hopeful that we can will learn from this and put it behind us. I don't really see the point in each city or country having a name of its own, unless it's like a version of the umbrella name (à la Occupy Wall Street becoming Occupy [place name]). I'm not sure what it adds anyway. If anything, it makes it less clear that it's a worldwide initiative of Green Day fans, not just a fan meet up. and if it was to be like your idea, I'd think Green for a Day (or GDATW, whatever) is a better name than plain "A Green Day Initiative". That's just my opinion though. Occupy Green Day FTW!!

I think that having so many names won't make clear that it's an event all over the world, plus each place having two names (or an umbrella one and an specific one or whatever) could be confusing for people and for the media.
oda Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Dawn just posted this on facebook its been very hard for me but i felt it was time to explain to everyone (you can pass this around to everyone if you want) there are lots of rumors flying around and people are going to believe what they want. but what i'd like to know is why everyone thinks i'm such a horrible person? i spent thousands & thousands of dollars i really couldn't afford, buying items to help raise money for green day across the world. plus i paid for lots of shirts, american idiot tickets, green day concert tickets out of my pocket and i gave them away to people that couldn't afford them. i threw a huge party and i paid for it and lots of people got to meet billie joe for the 1st time and have a great time (kat did help pay for some of it for those who didnt know). i'm sending boxes and boxes and boxes of green day stuff to kat so she can take over, most all of the items came out of my pocket only a handful of people donated anything i paid for 99.9% of it all myself trying to do some good and raise funds for green day charities. i cannot help that i got sick and didn't get items out in a timely manner,i did the best i could its a lot to do for 1 person by themself.I did the best i could with as sick as i was. As for my military career i served my tours over seas and i got injured and my injury caused my best friend to have to take my place and she died which is something i found impossible to live with. so its a story that was to hard for me to share with other people. after my injury and i was back at my duty station and i had my surgery i wound up in this wheelhair. i was wrong to make up a story that was easier for me to tell it helped me lie in denial because the truth hurt to much. i was already going through so much my husband left me once he realized that i would be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life and i had to send my children to stay with thier grandmother because i was unable to take care of them, i couldn't even care for myself.i even tried to take my own life after loosing all that i had.i took my wedding album,my marriage license, anything that had anything to do with my marriage even my divorce papers and i even put my army awards (which i felt i didnt deserve)and all papers, photos i could find put it all in the fireplace set it all on fire & i gathered all my medications, & every pill i could find, and took them all i wanted to do is die i felt like i had nothing left to live for, but my SGT found me and i woke up in the hospital alive when all i wanted to do is die. i lost a lot serving my country. the hardest part was loosing my best friend when it should have been me, so it was easier to lie to myself it was my way of coping because the truth was something i wasn't ready to face because the last time i tried it i almost took my life . unfourtunately tanya wanted to interview me and she got the lie that i had been telling myself and in return so did everyone else. though i changed the story around to a story that helped me cope with what happenend, the outcome was still the same. i'm sorry that everyone got mixed up in it. all i wanted to do is great things in honor of green day which has absolutely nothing to do with my military career anyway.i didn't do anyone wrong and i did a lot to help a lot of people so i don't understand why people hate me so much. All i can do is apologize to everyone, i promise it wasn't intentional and i'm so very sorry. i never meant for anyone to walk into my nightmare. I know that since i lied that most people still won't believe me but that is all right. all i can do is tell you the truth and apologize. I hope the items i'm sending kat does lots of good things for the green day fans and charities. I want everyone to know I never stole a dime from the stuff i set aside to raise money. (it would be hard to steal from myself since i provided most all the items, which i was only more than happy to, please dont get me wrong) but i never used it for anything except the charity. i did reinvest some of it and bought more items and had items made to help raise money for green day across the world. You can check with Kat there is lots and lots of green day items i sent her worth lots of money. So no one can say i stole anything. I paid for all but a few items out of my own pocket. I bought it all to do good things in honor of green day and thats why i'm sending it to Kat so that it will still do that. I hope that someday that some day some how you will all find a way to forgive me.I never meant no harm to anyone. I'm working with a phsycologist now that is helping me with my PTSD & helping me face and deal with the truth. I'm truly sorry from the bottom of my heart. ,Dawn
