Ask him when he started writing, did he write for anyone before the Lookout zine? Also, if has any plans after the compilation album and Spy Rock Memories being made into a book?

Larry's already confirmed that Spy Rock Memories is being published as a book, with a spring release on the cards at the moment. Will note the other questions ;)

Thats already been answered by him. He likened it to seeing The Beatles play Shea Stadium. But who am I to say, I'm not doing the interview!

When is this happening, btw?

Planning to meet up with Larry a couple of times over the next week (first one tomorrow), so we may well do the interview in 2 parts ;)

Are you meeting up purely to interview him or is this a personal/social meet up too?

Both, the interview will probably come after Larry's told me all about how his beloved Fulham got their result at Chelsea yesterday!

I have a question for Larry!

In that Middle Years documentary about Green Day he mentions that he thinks Nimrod is the album he hasn't given enough of a chance to. He also shares an anecdote about being in a pub and feeling blue and hearing Good Riddance on the radio for the first time. He said he had never heard it before and didn't even know it was Green Day. I want to know if he had not listened to the whole Nimrod album when it came out, then? (Nimrod had already been out for two months before Good Riddance was released as a single... unless I'm getting my dates mixed up, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been played on the radio until well after the album's release). And since then, has he given Nimrod more of a chance? I know there are many of us here who absolutely adore that record, myself included!

Great question, i haven't heard about that. Will bring it up for sure.

Thanks again to everyone for the questions, still time to get some more in...

A bit of a discussion about the albums after Lookout might be nice alright (if the poor man is not completely sick of talking about Green Day at this point). I remember him saying he didn't like Dookie but enjoyed American Idiot.

Also, if he has any plans to tour Europe (and hopefully Ireland)

For reference about the Good Riddance thing, I'm talking about 44:20 on this. At another point he mentions that although he hasn't given Nimrod as much attention, many of his friends 'swear by it.'

Last ?, I promise: When are The Potatomen going to headline SXSW in Austin?

Just to update you all, i spent a few hours with Larry this afternoon. Got about 3 hours of good stuff recorded. And barely half way through all the questions i had with me! We're hoping to meet up again in the next few days to do the rest. I'll have a bit of editing to do as i'm planning to post it in parts (maybe as many as Spy Rock Memories!). Hopefully i can get the first one up in the next few days.

Thanks again for all your input guys, it made my job a lot easier and also some great questions i wouldn't have thought to ask. Keep 'em coming!

That's amazing!! Was this audio or video recorded?

Audio... video would merely serve to distract from the content, since we're both so incredibly good looking.

This is not correct. I think Dookie is one of their best albums (right up there with 39/Smooth and Kerplunk), but I think American Idiot is even better (i.e., their best).

I did congratulate Tony on Arsenal having somehow managed to struggle to a draw against the mighty 10 men of Wolves, and suggested that if only Wolves would have agreed to play with 9 men instead, his team might have done better.

Both, the interview will probably come after Larry's told me all about how his beloved Fulham got their result at Chelsea yesterday!

Who's to say that our 1-1 against Chelsea was any more remarkable than Arsenal's 1-1 against Wolves?

I mean, just because we were playing away while Arsenal was at home, because we were playing against 11 men while Arsenal only had to contend against 10, and because Chelsea are about 15 places above Wolves in the table, that shouldn't make much difference, should it?

Let's talk about Football again after Arsenal's trip to Fulham next Monday ;)

Thank you Tony. Any news about the new album?

I presume you mean Green Day's... I didn't dare ask! :P

Here's one from my "why didn't I ask this one sooner?? pile" that those posts just made me think of: Were you at all surprised when Billie Joe asked you to produce the upcoming comp for Adeline? How did it feel getting back into a producer's role again? Is this something you'd consider doing again, and if so, are there any band(s) in particular you'd want to produce for?

Last ?, I promise

Awwww, fuck.

Larry covered most of the ground on your 2nd question (at least) in the interview, just fyi.

Sweet. Eagerly awaiting publication. :)
