Tomcat20 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 If the Reading/Leeds thing is true that means the chances of Pinkpop being true are bigger and that means I'm gonna be mighty pissed off because Pinkpop is in the middle of my exams (whatever they're called, the things that basically determine whether you graduate high school or not) so I can't possibly go. And Green Day playing here while I can't go is just urghhhhh. Pinkpop 2012 is at the end of May. Reading at the end of August... I can't see them doing both.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Pinkpop 2012 is at the end of May. Reading at the end of August... I can't see them doing both. Good point. Reading/Leeds is also a significantly larger festival and like Mercury said, they've played it before before (sorry for the repetition ) they released an album/off tour, I can't see them playing Pinkpop off tour. And while you can never be sure, I'm pretty sure that if they play a festival this Summer, it won't be to support an album (we would've heard some news by now if they were planning to release an album in the next five or six months... I think?) The selfish part of me is a little happier now
LittleBoyNamedTrain Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I hope they play Leeds festival...if they do, I'm definitely going! "Amazing news about Green Day - So amazing we that we're not allowed tell you until next week..." - was this written in the latest Kerrang, eg the one that came out last week? Or the one that was out today?
Heather. While I still think it's possible (though unlikely) that they could release an album in the next 5-6 months, I still think they could do a festival in anticipation of a fall 2012 release or something. And they could perform some new songs there (I'm sure they'd want to, just look at 'em go now!), maybe even release a single Now I'm getting greedy. IDK, hadn't they already released AI single when they did Reading 2004? Either way, I'd still see this as "in support of" an album.

Sorry if it was a bit unclear, haha.
sampy Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Well, if you remember October/November 2008 when they released those videos from their recording studio in YouTube, it wasn't sure when the next album might be out. Then, few months later in the Grammy Awards the band presented Album Of The Year and it was annouced that they're finishing their "upcoming album, 21st Century Breakdown." So from that point to the release date of 21st CBD, it was just 3 months and they had summer tour in US. My point is that everything's possible for the upcoming summer(tour)
DoodleBob Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I don;t think Kerrang would be allowed to announce this, surely the big thing about Reading/Leeds is annoucing the whole line up on the day the tickets go on sale? After hearing my bit of news I am very optimistic they will play...HINT HINT Well, you can buy tickets starting Friday, so by the time the Kerrang! issue with the news comes out, tickets will have already been avaible. Them preforming is seeming more and more of a possibility.
Undómiel Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 COME ON MARCH. I still have my 2011 wristband on... I want to add to it.
billiejoephil Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 If they do it this year, the album is sure to be released in fall the latest.
Tre_Gina Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 COME ON MARCH. I still have my 2011 wristband on... I want to add to it. I know I have my ticket and want to be there. I love Reading so much!
netty Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I still don`t think they will be playing this year. if they were close to finishing the album and pretty much happy with it, then they might agree to doing this. I cant see them agreeing when they haven`t even started the whole recording process.
Undómiel Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Well... we shall see. All this rumour bollocks is just that, rumours. Only March will tell the truth... *shrugs*
~ Walking Contradiction Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Gigwise's new poll: which 2012 festival has the hottest line-up? http://www.gigwise.c...-Up?---Vote-Now "Reading & Leeds: Green Day, The Killers and Foo Fighters?" among the answers. The headliners of the other festivals are confirmed, right?

It would be immense if those 3 were right as they are my 3 favourite bands! My money is still on Green Day and the mighty foos.
Soo Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Green Day, The Killers and the Foos were all at T in The Park in 2005 when I was there and it was just the best weekend ever! Every time I see that this thread has been posted in, I get excited about the possibility of GD playing, but I don't know how likely that is really. I suppose none of us do. Yet...........

We will defo know mid/end of march when they officially announce the lineup. Until then I enjoy speculating and thinking about who could be headlining.
TheJedi Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Green Day are still on 75% on the rumours for Reading and Leeds http://www.strictlyrandl.com/rumours/ Hope they'll be there
sara_gd Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Around when is the lineup announced normally? I think it's likely now that they're playing in Japan Edit: This is my 1000 post!
Hey Dave Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Neil from efests has said that he's had two bits of information from two different people, one saying they'll be headlining Leeds/Reading and one saying that they're doing an arena tour in the UK in September though he thinks the info about the tour is correct out of the two. And he generally gets things right haha.

Oh and the lineup is usually announced around the end of March.

Tre_Gina Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Has Sonisphere been announced yet? No not yet. Green Day don't seem to be linked with it so much now.
Undómiel Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 No not yet. Green Day don't seem to be linked with it so much now. I thought it was a bit odd. Sonisphere isn't really their type of festival.... LEEEEEEEEEDSSS!

Undómiel Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Oh and the lineup is usually announced around the end of March. I'll be in Cali.... *must work out time difference correctly!*
