666_american_idiot_666 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Great article! I remember hearing Coming Clean when I was about 13 and not making the connection with what he was witing about. Then again, I always thought the line was "Now Mom and Dad will never understand what summer meant to me" and I thought "Awwwh, poor kid." Urggh, part of me gets so infuriated that it's even necessary to discuss this when it shouldn't be an issue at all. My parents are part of a Christian church and on the odd occasion when we've actually discussed sexuality, they say "It's not being gay that's wrong, it's the act that's a sin." What the actual fuck, it's the same bloody thing? You can be gay, but you're not allowed to have sex. Thanks, God. ohh u got a good point. i am bi, and when i first heard coming clean i remember thinking, "see, finally someone who gets it." my parents are strict catholics and they don't know! several times recently i've considered telling them but i'll always get shut down.... everyone at my school knows and several of my friends are bi and gay. i love them. (not THAT way, sheesh!) my bestie told hers she's bi and they freaked a little (and theyre atheists) sooo i guess i'm just asking for a little help because i'm not really sure there is a right way to approach coming clean to my parents. (we really but heads 'cause i don't believe in god, i've recently stopped cutting (yay!), my boyfriend just left me, (-_-) and my grades are steadily sinking....... (they want me to get A's but the best i've been able to give them this year is B-'s and C's) \ Thanx i love u all

unexplainedbacon Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 I didn't know there was a national coming out day!! awesome!! (i love it when guys come up on stage at a green day concert and Billie kisses them, NOM!)
Lostnfoundtrblbound Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Thank you for addressing this. I being bisexual myself but at this moment not exactly taking part in the more homosexual side of it find Billie Joe's strength amazing. My friends who are Green Day fans are great but I feel like I have this other side of them that they(I'm including Tre's fluid trans episodes) have such a fluiidity of their sexual identities that I feel inspired and a sense of solidarity with my favorite band over this. As said right now I am in a relationship with a male and I have not cross dressed in ages but still to know my guys do this is great. Thanks for addressing this sometimes overlooked aspect of my favorite band.
