Brigister Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 1. Stuart and the Ave 2. Stuck With Me 3. Longview 4. Reject 5. Geek Stink Breath 6. Going To Pasalaqua 7. The Judge's Daughter 8. Christie Road 9. All The Time 10. Whatsername Well basically I just took Basket Case off my "Top 10", 'cause here in Italy they barely play Green Day in the radio so I only heard 21 guns, Basket Case, Welcome to paradise, American Idiot, Holiday and Boulevard Of Broken Dreams. PS: Woah, this is my 100th post I rewrote it due technical issues
StuckWithRob Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 1. Burnout 2. Christie Road 3. 2000 Light Years Away 4. 86 5. Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? 6. Coming Clean 7. Ha Ha You're Dead 8. Suffocate 9. Going to Pasalcqua 10. 16 1. Stuart and the Ave 2. Stuck With Me 3. Longview 4. Reject 5. Geek Stink Breath 6. Going To Pasalaqua 7. The Judge's Daughter 8. Christie Road 9. Brigister Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Stuck With Me, Longview and Geek Stink Breath were all released as singles I know, but somehow here in Italy they hardly ever play them so I've never heard them in the radio >.<
StuckWithRob Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 I know, but somehow here in Italy they hardly ever play them so I've never heard them in the radio >.< Ah Italy! Fair enough
ggoicocheap Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 Thank you for the great picks! Does anyone know how to embed HTML code in these posts?
Clayish Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Whatsername Letterbomb Castaway Stuart and the Ave. Chump Burnout 86 Paper Lanterns Little Girl Horseshoes and Handgrenades
green day is Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Awesome list. I had completely forgotten about Chump. So, I see that many people are listing Blood, Sex and Booze (out of Warning). It was also my understanding that this song was never released as a single. However, some googling led me to a website that says that it was released as a promo single in Germany. This is the website: http://www.greendayd...exandbooze.html Can anyone confirm that this single is real? From the snapshots, it looks like it is. too bad because this song would rank high in the list if it wasn't a single. Yes, it's real.

PS: Woah, this is my 100th post You have to take "Longview" off the list too. It was a huge radio hit in the 90s. I think "Going to Pasalaqua" was also on the radio a lot. My updated list: 1. Blood, Sex & Booze 2. Castaway 3. Brat (not sure if this was on the radio, but love the song) 4. At the Library 5. Don't Leave Me 6. Road to Acceptance 7. All By Myself 8. One for the Razorback 9. King For a Day 10. The Grouch
bjrules Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 So hard to choose but: 1. Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? 2. Letterbomb 3. Whatsername 4. Paper Lanterns 5. Misery 6. Having A Blast 7. Christie Road 8. 2,000 Light Years Away 9. Westbound Sign 10. Stuart and the Ave.
Bam-Itz-GreenDay Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 I'd say... 1. Coming Clean 2. Paper Lanterns 3. Scattered 4. King For A Day 5. Castaway 6. Stuart and the Ave 7. Are We The Waiting/ St. Jimmy 8. American Eulogy 9. Christie Road 10. Whatsername That is exactly what i would choose. Perfect list
Disapperingirl Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 That is exactly what i would choose. Perfect list Thanks I picked up the most influential songs (to me) from every album, great that you would choose the same :good:
Brigister Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 You have to take "Longview" off the list too. It was a huge radio hit in the 90s. I think "Going to Pasalaqua" was also on the radio a lot. I just told someone else that I've never heard it in the radio... so I put it in. Plus, not only those two songs were radio hits. I'm gonna rewrite my list, then. But the thread title should've been "Top 10 Green Day songs that have never been played in the radio", so. 1. Stuart and the Ave 2. Reject 3. The Judge's Daughter 4. Christie Road 5. All The Time 6. Whatsername 7. Paper Lanterns 8. Deadbeat Holiday 9. One Of My Lies 10. 86
JDookie Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 To be honest, I don't think that most of italian radios knows that other albums besides American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown exist and there are other songs besides Basket Case off Dookie so I'd say stuff like Minority, Stuck With Me etc, but I have to exclude singles, so... 1. Letter Bomb 2. ¡Viva la Gloria! (my favorite 21st Century Breakdown song... It should be a single in my opinion!) 3. Westbound Sign 4. Blood, Sex & Booze 5. Reject 6. 2000 Light Years Away 7. Christie Road 8. Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? 9. Burnout 10. King For a Day (Not in order of importance)
Hermione Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 The amount of love for Blood Sex And Booze in this thread warms my heart

Elena Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 I'd say: 1. Christie Road 2. Poprocks and Coke 3. Pulling Teeth 4. St Jimmy 5. The Static Age 6. You Lied 7. The Grouch 8. Deadbeat Holiday 9. Hitchin A Ride 10. King For A Day not in any order ;D ...and it was pretty difficult to choose that !! ...Hold On e.g. is a great one too...or Coming Clean...
norcalgreendayfan Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 My top ten in no order would be 1. misery 2.homecoming 3. Dominated love slave 4: blood sex and booze 5: burnout 6: letterbomb 7:horseshoes and Handgrenades 8: peacemaker 9: christians inferno 10: king for a day
Marlee Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Whatsername Give me Novocaine Homecoming Christie Road Honestly, most of their songs could have been singles. I'm on my ipod right now so I'll come back to finish the list
Brigister Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 1) Whatsername 2) Burnout 3) Stuart and the Ave. 4) Uptight 5) Castaway (blows my mind how it wasn't a single. Such a great song) 6) The Static Age 7) Murder City 8) St. Jimmy 9) King for a Day 10) Last Night on Earth I love how your number 8 became the smiley face with sunglasses xD
Berkeley Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Oh, well, that's very difficult just to pick up 10 songs when you've got a whole bunch of forking great non-single songs... I just take the songs I played the most on my iPod, so that's what iTunes says: 1. Give Me Novacaine 2. Whatsername 3. Murder City 4. Before The Lobotomy 5. The Static Age 6. Letterbomb 7. American Eulogy 8. Extraordinary Girl 9. Last Night On Earth 10. ¡Viva La Gloria! Well, this isn't even what I would have written from memory though, but that's simply too difficult. Also, I can't place older stuff...
melissawebster Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 The amount of love for Blood Sex And Booze in this thread warms my heart I'm telling you, it's one of my favorite GD songs. Makes me laugh every single time I hear it, especially the beginning when you hear the sound of the whip lashing against flesh and the guy says "Ah shit!." I laugh out loud every time. And then the music itself is fun and upbeat, all about absolute self-indulgence. But then it seems to me to have an even deeper meaning, in that it's also about not just acceptance of one's "flaws," but a reveling in it. It inspired my absolute favorite character I've written so far, so it will always hold a special place in my heart.

It's so true that there's two levels to it, the fun and the deeper meaning. I love it when Green Day are unashamedly quirky and weird , and it's just the perfect example of it. So cool that it inspired you like that.
melissawebster Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 So many of Green Day's songs inspire me in some way like that. They've quickly become my all-time favorite band, over U2, something I didn't think was even possible. And I love analyzing it, like poetry. You can tell their music is truly a reflection of them and what they're going through in the moment.

That is the best when Green Day are unashamedly quirky and weird. That is part of what makes them fun. It is that quirkiness and weirdness that makes blood sex and booze and dominated love slave two of my favourite songs.
melissawebster Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 ^Yeah, they can never be accused of conformity.
