spark in the night Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 King for a Day and Minority. Just drags on and on.
Zelda Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Personally, I'd like for them to keep KFAD, but maybe keep it a bit shorter? That's always been one of my favorite parts. They need to take out some of the AI and Dookie hits. Sure, they were the biggest albums, but come on. You have other albums too, ya know.
DannyDirnt Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 I would put less AI,21CB and Dookie, although theyw ere their gteatest albums, and put some more 1039 SOSH,Kerplunk and Insomniac stuff.Maybe some more Nimrod.Haushinka and The Grouch, for example, are really awesome and should be played.I'd start playing too Christie Road,Who Wrote Holden Caulfield,409 In Your Coffeemaker,Knowledge,Walking Contradiction,Warning (Song)...and I hope they remove teh acoustic part.Really, acoustics are great, but when you do it for Macy's Day Parade or Whatsername it's just boring.
She is Amanda Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 know your enemy, it gets so annoying. I'm also getting sick of American idiot (just the song, love the rest of the album)
DannyDirnt Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 know your enemy, it gets so annoying. I'm also getting sick of American idiot (just the song, love the rest of the album) American Idiot is epic.I'm glad that,if they must have an overrated song,it's at least one I love.Although it's not their best live song. They edited it too much in teh studio,I guess, and then it sounds weird live. But it's still awesome as fuck.
moonflower93 Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 good riddance holiday AI Boulevard Wake Me Up When September Ends
Marlee Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Good Riddance.....That song is covered by ANY person with a guitar
StuckWithInsomnia Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Drop Shout, keep king for a day, shorten brain stew, the transition between brain stew and jaded, play a little bit of panic song, then jaded. From 21stCB keep Know your enemy 21 guns and east jesus nowhere. Bring back Warning, Walking contradiction and Stuck With Me. The acoustic encore, play the odd macys day parade. Definetly cut down on the hey yohs and put more songs in, because plenty of them are less than 3 mins, and they can always play them faster.
DannyDirnt Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 For me: Drop ¡Viva la Gloria! and Know Your Enemy and play Restless Heart Syndrome and Peacemaker instead Drop Good Riddance and close with When It's Time Shorten the acoustic part to only the last song or just remove it (I mean play the songs normally, not stopping playing those songs) Add Waiting as the second song, like you've been waiting a lifetime for the concert/abum and then Carpe Diem (since it would be for next tour) Drop Shout (leaving King for a Day alone) and add Governator and a killing solo for Mike and Dominated Love Slave/It Was All By Myself for Tré Jesus of Suburbia is nice, but overplayed. I'd drop it and play Homecoming instead Add Warning after Waiting, since that song is epicly underrrated and it's awesome Add Christian Inferno after Viva la Gloria (Little Girl)
beejeezee Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Wake me up when september ends, I love the meaning behind the song but it is such an overplayed song.
Red Lights Flash Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 I hope that they only keep KYE and 21st Century Breakdown, maybe Murder city from 21stCB. Then again, I can't imagine a song like 21stCB anywhere in the middle of a set so unless it's the first song of the encore, I think it might be dropped. I don't think they should drop the classics (such as good riddance, Jesus of Suburbia, ...) because Green Day shows should be fun for all, including those who only know the hits. Except maybe they should do either wake me up when september ends or 21 guns but not both. I think now's a good time to get rid of King For a Day/Shout as crowd-pleaser. Might as well use that time to have some fun during the new songs from the trilogy.

Drop Shout if you like but King for a Day is an awesome song and I love all the awkward things they do!
Clayish Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 The whole setlist needs a makeover to be honest. The AI/21CB set lists were FANTASTIC and I will always love the fact that they had a section for requests and songs they felt like playing, but the order and actual songs need a change. Cut Know Your Enemy, most of the AI tracks, East Jesus, Hitchin A Ride. The acoustic encore needs to be dropped along with Good Riddance as the closer.... I forget what show it was (san jose maybe) but they should do a normal encore, then come out and play Pasalaqcua. PERFECT.
Forever Now Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Brain stew needs to be dropped and replaced with Armatage Shanks or Walking contradiction.
HeeeyOhhhBillieJoe Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Sometimes I feel their concerts should be more mature... I'm all for having fun but Green Day's concerts have been the same since about 2005? I know what their antics are gonna be. I was watching some concerts from the late 90's early 2000's and they were far better it was mostly just music (with a couple of Billie's infamous crude jokes thrown in..) I'm not liking their concerts much anymore. And I really hate when Billie gets people up onstage, especially for Longview. It's my favorite GD song ever and to hear some fans butcher it annoys me.. I pay to hear Billie sing not fans. I kinda sound like a rude bitch but.. whatever I could do without songs like '21st Century Break Down", "Know Your Enemy", "Give Me Novocaine" "We Are The Waiting" .. I wanna hear some more tracks from Dookie that they rarely play.

That's what makes a Green Day concert so memorable, audience participation. It would make my day if I could hear Give Me Novocaine, they don't play it that often
alaniluau Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 I forget what show it was (san jose maybe) but they should do a normal encore, then come out and play Pasalaqcua. PERFECT. That was Sacramento, and yes, it was perfect. Pasalacqua is a fantastic set closer. I hope they make a spot for it in the new set list somewhere.
Mar Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Brain stew needs to be dropped and replaced with Armatage Shanks or Walking contradiction. Agree. I think that WC is the only strong single from that album.
DannyDirnt Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Yes, Going to Pasalacqua MUST be in the new setlist. Going to Pasalacqua is completely epic. But I'd like to see more 1039 SOSH in new concerts. I mean, Going to Pasalacqua is amazing, but I'd love to hear 409 In Your Coffemaker or I Was There.
July21 Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 i can't understand why some people don't wanna hear good riddance anymore! imo good riddance IS and will ALWAYS be the only right song for an epic ending of an epic evening i just wanna have that setlist with all these awesome old songs! http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/green-day/2010/estadio-ricardo-saprissa-san-jose-costa-rica-bd57542.html
Holly Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 ^ I agree, I never want them to drop Good Riddance. Frank Turner always plays a song called The Ballad Of Me And My Friends at the end of each concert but at Wembley he announced it's probably the last time he'll ever play it. I'm absolutely gutted about it and it's exactly how I'd feel if Green Day dropped Good Riddance. I want rid of Know Your Enemy, never really had a lot of love for it, BOBD and keep everything else please. Just add more.
Johnny. Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 american idiot - i loved it at first listen. and the second. and the fiftieth but it has been totally ruined for me by being so overplayed. i dont think ive listened to it in years!
melissastrong95 Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Id feel so sad if they droped out AI. It's such a beautiful and powerful song, and the one that got many of us really into Green Day. I don't listen very often, though, but having it on concert was like a dream to me...
Anipnk Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 First of all I have to admit that I love many live versions, although I think some are already becoming repetitive. Songs like Hichin 'a Ride, Brain Stew, Are We The Waiting and Know Your Enemy are almostalways the same and although they are a great opportunity to play with the audience, have bored me over time. I think they should give way to songs like Scattered, Who Wrote Holden Caudfield, Walking Contradiction, Castaway, among many others that were not common from 2005 to 2010. There is too much potential in songsthat unfortunately many people do not know just by the fact that maybe they are not presented in a different way. On the other hand I admit that there are traditions that have been a hallmark of Green Day concerts and many entertain the crowds and are now different from what one normally gets in a rock concert.
