Dylan. Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I have no idea what the fuck is wrong with you people. I love all those songs, and it wouldn't be a Green Day show without them. I would say that 21CB actually had too few songs they played live. They hardly ever played Eulogy, See The Light, Peacemaker, LOTAG, or Little Girl. Those songs all were perfect examples of what is wrong with 21CB. Great songs that were over-produced to death, but never played live. Green Day puts on a great show every time, but I'm really disappointed that they didn't play more Breakdown. P.S. If they take away Static Age...I might die.I would also like to mention that the same people who are now clamoring for them to drop When I Come Around were the ones complaining they didn't play it enough on the AI tour.
Hermione Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 when i come around has actually consistently been one of my least favourite green day songs. how it became a single puzzles me. Oh I really like the song, but I have totally different criteria for liking songs on an album and liking songs at a show. It's just one of those ones that doesn't have anything extra special about it live. Even Mike knows this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZJ_mMj2NUk
Stephanie. Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 wake me up when september ends i really think that it just kills the energy in the crowd
gdwezrftw Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Really hope they don't play 21 guns on the next tour. Also have billie back singing longview with knowledge brought back in the setlist
LMC Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I could live without the following: 21st CB (the album) Hitchin' A Ride Brain Stew/Jaded
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 wake me up when september ends i really think that it just kills the energy in the crowd How does it kill the energy more than Good Riddance or any of the other songs in the acoustic encore does though? I disagree either way, but why did you specifically pick September? Oh I really like the song, but I have totally different criteria for liking songs on an album and liking songs at a show. It's just one of those ones that doesn't have anything extra special about it live. Even Mike knows this "Dude, When I Come Around! *excessive flailing and couch moshing*". loooovelovelove that moment.
americanidiot812 Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 there isn't a single song i'd like to see played less.....i love all of them
Stephanie. Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 How does it kill the energy more than Good Riddance or any of the other songs in the acoustic encore does though? I disagree either way, but why did you specifically pick September? "Dude, When I Come Around! *excessive flailing and couch moshing*". loooovelovelove that moment. I picked it because personally, I would much rather listen to a song that makes you want to jump out of your seat at a concert than listen to a soft acoustic song. I'm not saying I don't like WMUWSE, but I wouldn't want it to be played at a concert. As for Good Riddance, as long as it's played at the end of a concert I don't mind it, just because it would make sense to close with it seeing as it says "I hope you had the time of your life"
Clayish Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Basket Case, Know Your Enemy, Boulevard, 21 Guns, American Idiot, Wake Me Up. I'm very excited to see the next tour setlist, I'd like to see a radically different setlist, including songs and order(switch up JOS with Homecoming, end show with full band Whatsername or Pasalaqcua.)
green day is Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I don't like this post. Please look at the spoiler for more info. Because sarcasm.
Jacob. Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Because sarcasm. Also, American Idiot needs to be played less.
beejeezee Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I could live without the following: Hitchin' A Ride Oh hell no.
Hermione Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I could live without it the way they were playing it on the last tour. As far as I'm concerned the whole point of Hitchin A Ride is to have the first half as a build up, and then the second half as an awesome climax (whether that also includes a sexual climax from Billie in the middle or not). Playing the first half.............and then just abandoning it and playing Welcome To Paradise? Um no thanks. The whole beginning of Hitchin a Ride is just a build up so if you're not gonna include the climax of the song and not EVEN make up for not finishing it with some traditional dirtiness , there's no point in playing it. Don't know why they couldn't just finish the song and then play Welcome To Paradise, it'd only take a couple of extra minutes. So yes, they should either go back to playing the whole song or drop it
jon18 Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I hope they'll stop to play songs from 21CB. This album is so overproduced. The band can't transpose those songs on stage.
StuckWithRob Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I would prefer them to not play Jesus of Suburbia if they would play four songs from Insomniac in the same time. Anyone else agree? Edit: Actually, stupid idea, why not play both!
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I picked it because personally, I would much rather listen to a song that makes you want to jump out of your seat at a concert than listen to a soft acoustic song. As for Good Riddance, as long as it's played at the end of a concert I don't mind it, just because it would make sense to close with it seeing as it says "I hope you had the time of your life" But during the last tour, it was always played in the acoustic encore. If they wouldn't play it, another song played acoustically would replace it. And it doesn't make sense (to me at least) to want September gone because it's soft and acoustic, but have no problems with Last Night on Earth or When It's Time or all the other songs they sometimes played in the acoustic encore. Each to their own, I suppose
alexwetherell Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I don't think I can think of any specific song which they should play less... but at least switch up the setlist every now and then like most other bands do. Maybe do something a bit different, most fans know what songs to expect when at a Green Day concert, theres never usually any suprises..
Beathe. Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Wake me up when September ends Brain Stew Jaded Hitchin' A Ride Are we the waiting I have nothing against any off the songs, but they pretty much always play them, and I would rather want to hear something else. Wake me up when September ends feels like a complete downer for me at least.
Clayish Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 SO much 21st Century Breakdown hate in here. I understand that songs like KYE and East Jesus Nowhere should get the boot, but 21st Century Breakdown and American Eulogy are two of the best songs played last tour.
Hermione Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 SO much 21st Century Breakdown hate in here. I understand that songs like KYE and East Jesus Nowhere should get the boot, but 21st Century Breakdown and American Eulogy are two of the best songs played last tour. I enjoyed Know Your Enemy live but yeah I would equally enjoy any fast/energetic song so I wouldn't miss it. But I love East Jesus Nowhere! The saving the kid thing is awesome. When a song has a cool tradition attached to it I always want it kept because the little traditions are pretty much my favourite thing about the show Definitely agree that American Eulogy should be kept though. They didn't play it at either of the two shows I went to so I still need to see it. Or alternatively they can switch JOS for Homecoming. As long as Mike sings part of a song I'll be happy. Oh and they should keep Static Age too.
IscoredWaddlesgoals Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 JOS seems to last about a year when your legs are aching and just when you think it's stopping.... IT STARTS AGAIN.
LittleBoyNamedTrain Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 The only one I'd scrap would probably be Are We The Waiting. It's a fantastic fantastic song but doesn't suit the atmosphere of a concert. I hope American Eulogy becomes a regular! It's stunning!
Hermione Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 The only one I'd scrap would probably be Are We The Waiting. It's a fantastic fantastic song but doesn't suit the atmosphere of a concert. I hope American Eulogy becomes a regular! It's stunning! Wha?! It's like, designed specifically for a concert! It's not one of my favourites or anything but the whole epic sing-along "Are we we are, are we we are the waiting" is just made for thousands of people to sing in a stadium. And Billie going along the catwalk bending down and singing it right in people's faces and holding their hands and stuff is great. Wouldn't be that bothered if it went but I think it works really well, I'm sure they designed it with that call and response of "And screaming" and "are we we are...." with playing it live in mind. Definitely agree on your second point though!
AfterShock Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Why so much hate for Basket Case? It's a classic and the ultimate sing-along.
