Songs You Wish Were Played LESS

I have to say though, i don't think they will play quiet a lot of songs from 21st Century Breakdown now because that's not gonna be the current album anymore, I think that they will probably keep a few and maybe interchange with other songs from the album. Also it wouldn't be a Green Day show without King for a Day and Basket Case, i will never get tired of hearing them, and King for a Day is just sooooo fun and energetic :D

If the day comes where they don't play KFAD the entire fanbase is going to weep collectively.

Sadly, I agree with most of the other posts on here... 21CB, Know Your Enemy, BoBD, Are We The Waiting, 21 Guns, Wake Me Up, Static Age. They play some of the worst songs off 21CB, with the exception of American Eulogy (mostly because of Mike's parts). I would love to hear Peacemaker, Horseshoes & Handgrenades, or Restless Heart Syndrome live.

I am also tired of King For A Day/Shout, but mostly just because of the 'Shout' part - it just goes on forever, and I love KFAD by itself. The same goes for songs that they start playing, but don't finish, like Paper Lanterns and 2,000 Lightyears Away. I could also do without the covers medley. It's always the same songs, and sometimes it's cool, but I would much rather hear a full cover or more Green Day songs. I remember in San Diego for the 21CB tour, they busted out Platypus randomly, and everyone went nuts. It was so cool. This thread just leads back to songs I want to hear MORE....

I hope for their next tours, they drop some of the more story-oriented songs in favor of some classics.

I agree... keep KFAD, drop Shout. KFAD is more entertaining if he's not touching himself anyway.

Know your enemy. Never liked that song.

I also wish they'd stop playing Jesus of suburbia, holiday, boulevard of broken dreams, and 21 guns. I'm pretty much fine with anything else.

Know your enemy and East Jesus nowhere.

Why is murder city doesn't get played more often. :(

21 guns, i love the song but its been played many times

Blvd of Broken Dreams

Wake me up when september ends

Welcome To Paradise

i love those songs but i would love to listen to Restless Heart Syndrome, Christians Inferno, Android, No One Knows, just to name a few

What...? WtP is one of their best live songs. And they played it about every other show last tour

Do people seriously want them to stop playing the fun songs and stop doing their fun little traditions? Stop being silly during songs and just play them straight through instead? Madness! The fun and silliness and weirdness during and in between songs is what makes Green Day shows what they are and sets them apart from other bands. Getting rid of those things would just make the show less entertaining.

Haven't seen him touch himself during KFAD. Usually just an amusing flash of bum or perhaps a microphone down the trousers.

I couldn't agree more. If they were to play the songs straight, they would be just another band out there.

Amusing flash of bum! Well said!:lol:

So what about fun, I am there for the music not the stage antics. While it is entertaining, it just seems a bit overboard at times and to me really drags on and becomes quite bland as it really is the same thing over and over again. So I fully encourage taking King For A Day and Shout out

So what about fun?! I'm there to have fun and be entertained with music and stage antics. If I just wanted music I'd stay at home and turn on my CD player.

I agree. I just can't stand when a band comes out and plays song after song without anything else. It's boring. I mean.. I go to a concert for the music, that's true. But bands like this bother me at some point. And in my opinion, Green Day's not a band like this and they should never be! ;)

And since I haven't said something for the "which songs shoud be played less" thing, I'll do that now. I wish they could play them all, haha. No, really, I'm not joking. An nearly endless Green Day show, wouldn't that be cool? But if I had to choose one, I would maybe say "Boulevard of Broken Dreams". I love the song, but as some people mentioned before, it just seems to break the audience's energy.

I can't believe most of the songs that people are saying should be completely dropped. I agree with king for a day and shout, and Novacaine, I'd hate if 21st CB, EJN AI, Basket Case, wmuwse, bobd, brain stew, hitchin a ride were dropped. Lots of people in the crowd would be at their first Green Day show and would be really pissed if they dropped the "big hitters"

If it was a concert for just hardcore green day fans I wouldn't mind if all the songs from the regular setlist were left out just so I could hear some never/rarely played live tracks

Unfortunately, 21st Century Breakdown is such a wonderful opener that I don't know how well it would sound if it wasn't played first. It's just absolutely perfect as opening performances go, especially with Song of the Century starting off and then the thunderous DUN! DUN! to rile up the crowd before they come out. It was 10x better than American Idiot, which I thought back in 2005 was the best opening performance I had ever seen. Gaah, seeing 21st Century Breakdown live is one of the greatest things in the world, I tink it's the most literal and perfect example of Green Day in its absolute prime.

East Jesus Nowhere. BORING! Got to go

What song I'd like to see played less... I could do without Know Your Enemy, When I Come Around, maybe East Jesus Nowhere and Basket Case (but it's such a classic! Can't remove that from the setlist)...

I guess I'd like to see them replace songs like that with other songs, just mix it up a bit. In the setlist they had last tour there was barely any room to mix it up unless they made the show much longer. It'd be nice to have the setlist be a bit of a surprise. Some songs will still be the same, but the whole middle part is just kind of changed up and songs thrown around.

That said, they did have a pretty solid setlist.

I completely agree, 21stCB is an awesome opener. And after the rile up you described, there's also the build up within the song with the first part being slower and calmer than the Class of 13 part, which is when the crowd really explodes.

I agree about 21CB... I think it'll be a shame if they open their next tour with whatever their next album title song is. Unless they come up with something better, of course. But with SotC leading in, it's too perfect. And I can't imagine it being played randomly in the middle of the show, but I guess I'd be on board.

hmph... a lot of people are saying EJN but for me thats a huge moment live. it's such a powerful message... and there's explosions! :runaround: i'd probably say basket case only because its probably the GD song ive heard the most. though i know if it was played less plenty of people would be pissed

I think the only other place they could put that song is the first song of the encore

I wouldn't want them to get rid of any fun bits completely, but they could do something a bit different rather than doing roughly the same thing every night. And get rid of all the aaaaaaayyyyyyyooooooohhhhhhhs.

Guys,I've never seen GD live (well,Heineken Jammin Festival's fault)...I'm looking forward to watching King For A Day/Shout,Basket Case,Boulevard of Broken Dreams,Wake Me Up When September Ends,ALL AMERICAN IDIOT songs and the big hitter songs live  Not so excited about 21 Century Breakdown's songs,I have to admit

Well, I feel like shit for saying this, but I'm not too fond of Green Day concerts. I just hate hearing Jason play two chords over and over in the middle of a song while Billie is screaming at me to put my hands up and yelling "hey oh" at me atleast 200 times per song. I mean that kind of stuff used to pump me up when I was like, 12, but I honestly find it annoying now.

> This is just what I think though. <

After hearing some of the new live footoge from the secret show, I was pretty pleased to hear them just talking to the audience like they're regular people, and not taking themselves too seriously. Maybe it was because they were playing a small venue or whatever, but, I dunno.

Have you actually seen them live? Because if you have I think you might be the first person I've ever come across who went to a Green Day concert and didn't enjoy it :o

And the idea of them taking themselves too seriously.......they dress up in funny costumes, invite audience members up to sing, tell silly jokes, do headstands, shoot toilet paper guns, play comedy country/S&M songs, get the whole audience involved with cheesy but fun singalongs and call and response routines. Green Day shows are fun fun fun, there's no taking themselves too seriously involved. I've never seen a band so willing to be silly and have such a laugh on stage instead of worrying about acting cool. Sounds like you're the one taking things too seriously if you can't enjoy a bit of fun and getting involved at a concert just because you're not 12 anymore ;)

Personally I could go without Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Brain Stew and Know Your Enemy to make room for some older, rarer songs. Also, I hope they never stop playing Jesus of Suburbia live, unless they switch it up with Homecoming sometimes. I know its super long, but its just too amazing.
