I think it was made just because there's SO many fake ones. This way you know that unless it's DirntOfficial tweeting, it's not Mike.

It's just someone with too much time on their hands.

The official one is @DirntOfficial, it used to be on greenday.com, but since they updated the layout it disappeared (maybe because he's not even tweeted once yet? I dunno...) There was a big discussion when it first turned up, but yeah, if I remember correctly, that one's Mike.
