Anyone else think Billie need's to play a bit more when live?

His backing vocals can be heard pretty clearly on songs like "American Eulogy," where his mic is at the same level as Mike's. Also, if Billie Joe's front-manning a song, Jeff handles rhythm guitar by himself, but if Billie's playing guitar, Jeff typically is either straight backing vox or strumming chords.

It's easier to pick out his vocals if you were at one of the shows where he sang part of "Shout." He's got a pretty distinctive voice as compared to the rest of the guys, actually, but if you don't hear it solo you probably won't be able to pick it out, as it's typically low in the mix.

Oh yeah, I can definitely hear him during the chorus in this one.

At least I think it's him. It's certainly someone who's not Mike.

The only thing that annoys me about the Billie/Jason guitar thing is that when Jason is playing a solo Billie is holding his guitar up and taking the limelight from Jason, like in Holiday on AAF. However, I don't think it's a huge issue, just as long as it's the three of them doing the stuff on the albums.

Also I think Mike should do backing vocals alone, except in the chant bits of songs like Jesus of Suburbia.

I heard Mike belt out American Eulogy at the soundcheck the day before LCC last year. Jealous ? Yes you are.

Hmm maybe, but he's got a big job to do anyway. I mean, he seems to do a lot more crowd interaction than he did back when he played lead. Besides not many lead singers play any gutair at all. And above all Jason is a beast, it sounds better with him on lead

i so fucking don't care xD i saw them and i think it's great the way they play now, maybe billie just prefers to jump and run around, sing and go crazy and just entertain the crowd and have fun with the people than playing the guitar, thats what he has jason for. as long as the band is performing everything is alright  they're the best, can't wait to see them live again

I've never seen them live, but in my opinion they are a great live band and i agree that if Billie played more guitar he wouldn't have so much time for crowd interaction, though it also would be great if Billie played more solos

Anyways I think it's better how they do it now, I mean he totally gets the crowd involved, other artists don't....just look at the most other artists, they just play their set.

....It's just sad that the most people don't see that and call him a bad guitarist. They all think he makes easy to play songs so that a 3 years old could play it and he's not talented, but in my opinion it's better to make easy songs that sound good instead of making difficult to play songs that just sound shitty. Billie has that talent that he can make a 3 chord song sound awesome (while some other artists have problems of making something different with 4 chords) and he can play difficult things if he wants :)

So I thibnk he's a great guitarist and MAYBE should play some more solos, but not all the time, cos it's better when he gets the crowd involved and everyone has fun ;)

I think it's alright the way they're playing, Billie is in charge of the audience, if they just play I think the people would get a little bored
