frankiessister Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I don't want to sound all too impatient (which I am), I'd just like to know if Tony's already got his copies,so he'll soon be able to send them out.

Yup, he just got his in. We're gonna work on getting all the labels printed and magazines packed so he can ship them out over the next couple days.

greendaytone Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Yep, i'm packing all the European and non US & Canada orders now. Will be on there way soon
lizziebix Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Still waiting. Mail delivery seems to be really slow these days.
fluke Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 lizzie - if you live in chicago, you can get a copy at quimby's, then give your other copy to a friend.

So, I've never heard of that store so I googled it - and my company is blocking it for "adult content!" But I saw the address and know where it is. If it doesn't arrive today or tomorrow I just might take a ride over there on Sunday. It's not too far and it's in a really fun area that I haven't been to recently. Good restaurants too. Thanks for the tip!
fluke Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 yeah, i used to live in the neighborhood (actually on THAT street, across damen) in the early '90s. the neighborhood was totally different back then, though, not all built up. quimby's used to be on damen back then, in a dingy, cold (in the winter) space. there's one issue of #8 left on their shelves, too!

I love Wicker Park. We almost bought a home in that neighborhood. It really has "grown up" in recent years. Really nice to see! How long did you live in Chicago? Did you call them to find out how many they have left? I guess I should call Sunday before heading out and see if it's still there! Thanks!
lizziebix Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 WooHoo! It's arrived! (now to read it cover to cover. okay I'll read the Jason interview first and then the rest!!)
Four. Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 You guys have mail on the weekends? Lucky, haha. I'm expecting it to come either tomorrow or Tuesday, since the email I got to say it'd been shipped was last Monday I think.

The USPS still delivers on Saturday's and it's a federal agency. (Although they may discontinue it with the next round of budget cuts!) Anyway, yeah, it came in yesterday's mail and I've read the Jason interview and a few of the others. Will hold off on commenting until more people have read it.

I preferred it the way it was in the early '90s, there are too many lame shops (i.e. Starbucks, etc) in the neighborhood. It was gritty when I lived there. But anyway, it's cool that Quimby's is still there and doing really well because it's one of my favorites places in Chicago. I lived there from '90-'92.

I understand what you mean about the area. We were house hunting in '94 and are actually glad we didn't buy there because of all the changes. It still has some cool shops and restaurants and a couple of great fairs/festivals. But best to just visit and then go home!
fluke Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Here's the Razorcake review of issue #9 - http://www.razorcake.org/site/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=25966
Red Lights Flash Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Hey guys, I was wondering if it's normal that I haven't received a confirmation mail or anything yet? I live in Belgium. PS Andres, I was the guy who accidentally entered the wrong shipping address (I contacted you about this and you said it was no problem). I guess that might be why, but just making sure.
Fuzz Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I believe all orders were sent out (international included) late last week / over the weekend. I'll sort out the email notifications.
Tripe Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 REALLY enjoyed this! Of course the Jason interview was great and of most interest to us GD fans. But I read it cover to cover and enjoyed it all. LOL'd at the "Tour Tips" article. It was nice to read how Jason actually got involved up with Green Day all those years ago. Good stuff.

Tripe Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 How many pages has the interview with Jason White? I don't have it in front of me, but I want to say it's about 5 or 6 pages? The fanzine itself is about 1/2 of a sheet of paper in size. The print is small, though - plenty of information.
fluke Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 jason's interview is 10 pages. it has photos, etc. from as far back as the '80s. the zine is half-size, 56 pages, offset print. the interview took place on green day's tour bus in scottsdale, arizona. thanks for the kind words, tripe! i'm glad you enjoyed this issue.
