InvaderPhantom Posted July 9, 2011 Author Posted July 9, 2011 Whoa, this thread is pinned? When did that happen? I still can't hear the "here we go again"-whispering at the beginning of Going to Pasalacqua. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that my cd is remastered... I listen to Pasalacqua on a 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours cd that's been remastered in 2003. @all the people who can hear the whispering: do you listen to it on the same cd?
Judges_Daughter Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 In Brainstew you can hear Billie groan at :45.

I, too, have the remastered version and I can't hear it. In Brain Stew you can hear Billie groan at :45. That's not him groaning, that's his little "Suh" thing that he does in quite a few songs, mostly on Dookie and Insomniac.
Hermione Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 That's not him groaning, that's his little "Suh" thing that he does in quite a few songs, mostly on Dookie and Insomniac. Sounds more like a groan than one of his "suh"s to me. It's a really low "urrrrrrrrrrr". Like he's groaning with frustration at not being able to sleep.
-Billiejoezee- Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 ... Holy crap I just listened to it- It IS Mike! I've always thought it was Billie! ... Mind=Blown Well I guess that really was hidden stuff, huh? ... It's still sinking in. I've thought it was Billie for 7 years.... (and again my mind is blown that AI came out 7 years ago.) AND I thought of another! (Also In Homecoming) when Tre is shouting at the end (I THINK it's Tre...) amongst the "I DON'T CARE! FUCK!" over and over, an "I LOST MY PHONE!" is thrown in.... Tee hee. And we mustn't forget "Say birthday boy hey" in Hitchin' A Ride... Or did they make that up for RockBand? Same here. Seven years and I thought billie sang nobody likes you. Seriously. Mike and billie sound the same...
InvaderPhantom Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 Same here. Seven years and I thought billie sang nobody likes you. Seriously. Mike and billie sound the same... ... You're kidding, right.
-Billiejoezee- Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 ... You're kidding, right. No I'm not. From 2004-2009 I thought it was billie who sang it on the album, even though mike did it live. But I've already spoken about that here on the forum before so...
Hermione Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 No I'm not. From 2004-2009 I thought it was billie who sang it on the album, even though mike did it live. But I've already spoken about that here on the forum before so... I thought it was Billie for years too, I only found out it was Mike when I saw them perform it live on TV and saw him singing it. Although their voices are obviously different, I think singing together for so long has given their voices some similarities. Enough similarities for a load of us to not notice the difference despite being big Green Day fans anyway
Kayfabe Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 The last 'tcha' in No One Knows is really good imo edit: hmm. I've always known it was Mikers.
Kristen M Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Yeah I didn't know it was Mike until I saw a performance of it live :/

BriIsObsessed Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 This is a thread for funny or interesting things you find in Green Day songs, for example: If you listen to Longview and it goes "Call me pathetic, call me what you will" you can hear someone shout "What you will!" in the background, if you listen very closely. You can hear it on the demo versions, too. When I first realized this, my mind was blown. I listened to this song so many times, but just now got it. Anyway, did anyone find any other hidden things in Green Day songs? Haha I heard that it was one of Billie's friends in the crowd that shouted it out at a live recording and they kept it in there

And I also think it makes more sense if Mike sings that part 'cause he wrote it...
green day is Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Haha I heard that it was one of Billie's friends in the crowd that shouted it out at a live recording and they kept it in there It was their friend Robert Eggplant who would shout it out every time they played it live, then they brought him into the studio to record it. #readthethread
Poprocks_and_Coke Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 I never knew that about Robert Eggplant! I´m gonna pay attention to it! I´ve just found out that at the start of East Jesus Nowhere (short before the louder guitar part, the whispering) a man is saying "Don´t test me" and "Second guess me" at the same time but it´s backwards.

No, it's just "Don't Test Me" backwards. Not second guess me as well. I've reversed it myself. On the subject, does anyone know who that is? Someone earlier in the thread, or maybe in a different thread said it was Billie but it was pitch-shifted. Anyone know anything?
Hermione Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 All I know is even though it does say "don't test me" backwards, forwards it still sounds like "Satan worshipper" to me
green day is Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 So, I messed around with the pitch of it in Audacity and I think it's almost definitely Billie. And, upon closer listening, it may in fact say "Second Guess Me" as well. I'm not sure though. There's definitely some type of whispering in the background, but I can't quite make it out.

Juliet_Kish Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 In the last few seconds of On The Wagon you can hear Billie say "hold on" I thought he said "well done" but i think it's "hold on" now
green day is Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 In the Q&A thread we figured out many things. In American Eulogy, there is the sound of a telegraph during the "as the neighborhood burns" part. It is Morse Code for "We are the Class of '13" The telegraph during LOTAG and Murder City doesn't mean anything, it's just following a rhythm. It translates to A, W, A, W, etc. In order, the things in the radio intro to EJN are: "Reberu Rajio" which is Japanese for "Rebel Radio". Rebel Radio was the name of a radio station they used to broadcast some stuff while they were recording. A clip from Nice Guys Finish Last. "La Ultima Noche" which is Spanish for "The Last Night" A clip with one or two piano notes. Somebody said it was, "Definitely ¿Viva la Gloria?" but they haven't given justification for that, so I'm still not convinced. And, of course, the preacher saying "And we will see how godless a nation we have become" which they recorded straight from a Christian radio station.
Juliet_Kish Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I get the backwards "don't test me" in the intro of East Jesus Nowhere and the "I'm a stupid person" backwards thing at the beginning of Knowledge. you can actually tell that's a real line just being played backwards, but all that about the backwards lyrics in Wake Me Up When September Ends and Warning it just dumb. no one writes lyrics just so that they'll say some barely comprehensible phrase with no particular meaning when played backwards...
LauraG Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 ... In order, the things in the radio intro to EJN are: ... "El [something] Noche" (I can't remember the middle word) which is Spanish for "The Last Night" ... It actually says "La última noche" in Spanish. The translation is ok.
green day is Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 It actually says "La última noche" in Spanish. The translation is ok. That's what it was! I couldn't quite remember it. Thanks.
