Right after the last line in the BIAB version of Good Riddance, you can hear a girl scream "Yes Billie!" It makes me laugh every time.

I've never actually listened to it backwards, but the bit at the beginning of "Knowledge" says "Let's get personal" when played back.

... Also I like it in "Rock and Roll Girlfriend" when Tre says "I haven't smoked in over 22 days so get off of my case" and in the background, Billie yells "Don't wanna be an American Idiot!"

I like the stuff they put that's backwards like in the beginning of East Jesus Nowhere "Don't Test Me" , I'm sure there was a thread about it here, a while back, and also Knowledge? I don't remember which one was it, neither what it said.

Are there more? 'cause I don't know how to play stuff backwards

In the last few seconds of On The Wagon you can hear Billie say "hold on"

- At the end of Dry Ice you can hear them shout "YES! YES!" and I think Tre hits his drums as well. Turn up your volume.

Its actually John/Al on the drums. They were shouting YES YES! cos it was their 17th try (or some ridiculous number) because John/Al kept fucking up on drums

I always thought that was Mike..

I always thought that was Mike..

... Holy crap I just listened to it- It IS Mike! I've always thought it was Billie! ... Mind=Blown

Well I guess that really was hidden stuff, huh?

... It's still sinking in. I've thought it was Billie for 7 years.... (and again my mind is blown that AI came out 7 years ago.)

AND I thought of another! (Also In Homecoming) when Tre is shouting at the end (I THINK it's Tre...) amongst the "I DON'T CARE! FUCK!" over and over, an "I LOST MY PHONE!" is thrown in.... Tee hee.

And we mustn't forget "Say birthday boy hey" in Hitchin' A Ride... Or did they make that up for RockBand?

Is he really saying "I lost my phone"? Hahaha. I've always heard something about a phone, but I didn't know that's what it was.

This is a thread for funny or interesting things you find in Green Day songs, for example:

If you listen to Longview and it goes "Call me pathetic, call me what you will" you can hear someone shout "What you will!" in the background, if you listen very closely.

You can hear it on the demo versions, too.

When I first realized this, my mind was blown. I listened to this song so many times, but just now got it.

Anyway, did anyone find any other hidden things in Green Day songs?

Love this one too! And the person who shouts this is their friend Eggplant who used to shout it after that line everytime they played it live. They brought him into the studio just for that. I learned this from the biography by Mark Spitz called "Nobody Likes You". :eyebrows:

In East Jesus Nowhere at about 24 seconds, inbetween the guitar pausing and all instruments coming in you hear someone say some gibberish. If you reverse that you can hear it say "Don't test me" in a much deeper voice than Billie's but if you turn the pitch up it turns out to actually be Billie

Yeah I found that out playing Rockband with the harmonies on.... you stumble upon many "Unknown lyrics" there.

I also found out that before the bridge of Holiday, Billie shouts "Three Four!" I always thought it was "Free For All!" :runaround:

at the end of J.A.R. on Awesome as Fuck you can hear Tre say "suck big titties" really quickly at the very end

theres also a lot of talking before "all by myself" but i couldnt decipher it haha

@OP: That's their friend Robert Eggplant who says "Whatyouwill" in Longview. They brought him into the studio just to record that, because at shows, he would always yell "Whatyouwill" when they said that line, and they decided to have it in the studio version. In some early performances, you can hear him.

No, no, no, it's Billie saying "Don't Wanna Be an American Idiot"

And it is Tré in the other part, he's saying more than just "I don't care, fuck". In some thread somewhere I used my acapella to decipher the whole thing, but I don't remember it all. You can see what he says if you turn harmonies on in Rockband.

They made that up for Rockband, Billie himself said it was just gibberish. Don't remember the interview. There's also gibberish in Reject that he talked about in an Idiot Club Q&A.

The talking is there because they recorded it either at a party or with some friends, I've heard both.

Other things I'd like to correct but I forgot to quote the posts,

Billie doesn't cough at the beginning of Prosthetic Head, it's in the middle. The music stops for a little then it starts again. While it's stopped, you can hear him cough.

You hear Tré throw his drumsticks at the end of Walking Alone, he doesn't just hit them (I'm being picky on the details here, but whatever).

At the end of At the Library, you can hear someone say "Yeah". I think it's Al, because it doesn't sound like Mike or Billie.

If you put At the Library on your computer and look at properties or look at ti in WMP or iTunes or something, in the "Contributing Artists" thing it says Green Day;Waba Sé Wasca. Larry Livermore says it means they got high a lot back then.

In the demo of Longview, it's not exactly hidden, but you hear a phone when he says "I sit around and watch the phone, but no one's calling".

My generation

HEINEKEN FUCK THAT SHIT

THAT'S what he is saying!

I only heard the "fuck that shit"

There is a fart noise in Sick of Me. It's not really hidden though because the music actually stops for it.

When you listen to the vocals for Sassafras Roots on Rockband, you can hear Mike saying "Time..Time.. hehe..Time Time". I've tried to hear it in the studio version and I never can :ermm:

I love listening to these things in Green Day's songs. I don''t know if these have been mentioned, but you can hear Tre drop his drumsticks at the end of both Walking Alone and F.O.D.

So glad I opened this thread, so much hidden stuff I didn't know about! :runaround:

In the musical version of Homecoming, you can hear some whispering at 6:02 when "he plays the guitar". I want to know what they're saying :pinch: Can someone who has some crazy programs decipher it? It's probably a secret message :ninja:

It's probably some backmasking.

In Going to Pasalacqua, right before the "here we go again", you can hear billie joe say it right before very quietly. Turn up your speakers and you will hear it.

I can hear it. It works best if you use earbuds to hear it, not through like a car speaker or something.

Ooooohhhh right of course. I didn't even think of that, haha. ><

did know why it was though :P

I'm starting to think that this is only in some versions. I honestly can't hear it. All I hear, when I have the volume at the loudest possible and listen it with my not at all bad quality headphones, is very, very quietly someone screaming "oa", but like they were standing a couple of metres away from the mic, and it's still hardly hearable and I don't even hear it all the time. I have a remastered version of the album.

That might be why you can't hear it. It sounds a little bit like an echo...maybe that "oa" thing is actually it?

That may be it, but I had the same conversation in the last thread about this, and they said it was really clear and that it was kind of like whispering, and what I'm hearing is anything but clear and not like whispering either...

Idk, I'll try it again later tonight on my computer when maybe I can turn the volume a little higher. Even though right now my ears already hurt from the guitar that starts right after because it was so giddamn loud, haha.

I don't think it sounds like a whisper at all, and it's really not that clear either. Hahaha. It sounds more like someone else in the studio is yelling it before him. I think you're hearing part of it, because Billie cuts it off right when it starts saying "again". So really all you hear is "Hear we go ag-"

Oh well. You'll hear it eventually. It's not like it's super interesting anyway. xD

What makes you jump to such a bold conclusion?

it's a demo.

The fuck is your point?

At the very end of On The Wagon, you can hear someone say "thank you"
