The Disappearing Boy Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Listening to the Rock Band multitracks. In the bass track of Warning, you can hear something metal fall to the floor at 1:11. Somebody else probably noticed this already, but I just picked up on it- the "Don't wanna be an American idiot" shout during Rock n' Roll Girlfriend is Mike. I always assumed it was Billie. Christ you're right. Mind has been blown.
Spike Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Can someone please explain what the rock band tracks are? Why can you hear stuff on there that you can't normally and where do the rock band tracks come from? For the Green Day Rock Band game, the songs are played back as multi tracks rather than as one audio file as they are on the CDs. So there's a way of listening to each individual instrument or vocal part in isolation, which means you're able to hear things that are masked by everything else that's going on in the full versions. I think they also used different edits of some songs for the game, which is why there's a scream in Sassafras Roots that isn't on Dookie.
Tubbie Head Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 At the very end, right after "all I wanna do is...". It's just a whisper, you can't actually make it out, but in AAF Tré shouts it, so you can still tell what it's supposed to be. Wait, so that actually happens on the original version of the song? I thought it was something Tré did live just for the laughs. I never cached it.

Tubbie Head Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Oh dear, I love this thread... So many things I never noticed.

localinsomniac Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 No it's not and no he's not. It's Billie. I disagree, but that's fine.
Spike Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Has anyone entertained the thought it could be both Mike AND Billie? Could easily be the case, especially since it's so hard to work out who it is, and it sounds like more than one voice to me. The whisper at the end of JAR is INSANE. I'd never have heard that in a million years, but obviously I knew it was on AAF. This thread is epic.

localinsomniac Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 To me from the rock band track it sounds like Billie to me but it could be Mike I'm basing my opinion off the idea that it sort of sounds like Joey Ramone, especially the word "idiot." It just screams Mike to me.

green day is Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Here's that part, for anyone that doesn't have the multitracks. http://vocaroo.com/i/s1EZi2b5KAK5 Billie does it live, if that means anything to you.

The more I listen to it, the more I can pick out two voices. I'm convinced it's both of them in unison. The plot thickens, as on Storytellers Billie and Mike are both clearly seen singing the line, and either one of the Jasons could be doing so too:
Otis Big Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 No, rockband used the original master tape from the Dookie recordings for the multi tracks, and there are some things in there which were taken out from the Dookie release during the mixing Yeeeeahhhhhh! Downfall! This world DRAGGED HIM DOWN
Oxymore Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 What could be done instead of argue (for Don't wanna be an American Idiot in Homecoming) would be that the next who meet them to a gig ask em. Simply. (and tell us after huh ?)

Simply. (and tell us after huh ?) If they would even remember lol I wouldn't surprised if it wasn't a recorded overdub but a samole from the song American Idiot
localinsomniac Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 It could be Mike I wasn't saying it was Billie as a fact Of course, I was just trying to give some explanation. Here's that part, for anyone that doesn't have the multitracks. http://vocaroo.com/i/s1EZi2b5KAK5 Billie does it live, if that means anything to you. I knew he did, and it does mean something- I wasn't saying you were wrong above, just that I don't necessarily agree as I don't hear Billie's voice in that part. It very well could be him or both of them, but my ears are only telling me Mike.
Hermione Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 In Longview, after "Call me pathetic, call me what you will", you can hear a noise which reminds me of a seagull. It's someone shouting "what you will!". "Call me what you will"..... "What you will!", get it? No it's not and no he's not. It's Billie. There's a tiny whisper you can barely hear, but once you've heard it on AAF and know that it's supposed to be "suck big titties" it's very clear. I still can't hear that. I don't believe it

It very well could be him or both of them, but my ears are only telling me Mike. I didn't mean you. I meant the plural "you". Whoever's reading, in this instance. I still can't hear that. I don't believe it Hear harder.
Pineapple Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I'm basing my opinion off the idea that it sort of sounds like Joey Ramone, especially the word "idiot." It just screams Mike to me. I completely agree, i have always thought it was Mike and still do
WhiteTim Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 After repeated listens to the acapella I think its sampled from AI (the song)
Bastard of 1969 Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 It's someone shouting "what you will!". "Call me what you will"..... "What you will!", get it? I still can't hear that. I don't believe it Oh, I get it now!
