Hermione Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Meh! I'll just celebrate it both days then!! More cake! Sounds good to me! Which queue were you in? Always interested to know if I met a GDCer without knowing it
colour_me_stupid_ Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 remember the massive fretting in the Wembley thread over which door was best, and how we made lists of who got where on their tickets? maaan, I didn't even have my wembley ticket at this point because of the stupid dispatch problems. Oh lord jesus, I'd totally forgotten I just had to get out my shoebox full of concert stuff to see what entrance I would've been, G/F I dunno did I meet you at Wembley?? I defo saw you at Marlay Park anyway /sorry if I sound like a right weird stalker
pasalaska Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Oh lord jesus, I'd totally forgotten I just had to get out my shoebox full of concert stuff to see what entrance I would've been, G/F I dunno did I meet you at Wembley?? I defo saw you at Marlay Park anyway /sorry if I sound like a right weird stalker haha, I'm not sure if I met you or not tbh... I was in such a daze from lack of sleep and cold and a million people coming up and introducing themselves as GDCers without saying their usernames I remember a big group of people walking around with the green/red/white GDC Wembley shirts... but Marlay Park I do remember I often wonder whether or not I've met people - I feel bad when people know who I am but I have no idea who they are

Didn't see you at Marlay..." Can't say I know what that's like
netty Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 You got early entry?? So did I.. well not me, I was a +1 Me too, right in his corner I was guest listed and then asked to organise the idiots who got early entry. I was the one going round with the list trying to make sure everybody was there. next time they can organise themselves coz I had the shakes meeting so many peeps off the IC at one go!
Hermione Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 haha, I'm not sure if I met you or not tbh... At the O2 I talked to some people for hours before I realized I'd known them on here for years . You can know people on here without knowing what they look like so it's easy for it to happen if neither of you happen to mention GDC. I think I should've asked everyone I met as soon as I met them. Probably easier for me or you to be recognized than most because of our recognizable names/usernames.
Mrs. Nobody Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Haaa I originally had a BC ticket and then I saw that it was the other side of the stadium and thinking "there's no way in hell I'm running that", I managed to swap to MN and lozza was there so twas greeaat. Our queue definitely wasn't as freezing as the others ... The wind was terrible near BC, if I recall well
Undómiel Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Sounds good to me! Which queue were you in? Always interested to know if I met a GDCer without knowing it H/J in the very first cube thing... We bought a fitted bed sheet from Lidl's because we were so cold and lay under it... ah good memories...
whatsername..x Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 This thread is such a great idea!! All month I've been thinking this time last year I was so excited about Wembley, it's nice to remember the happy memories like this though, instead of being sad reminising, which is what I tend to do. ** me outside Wembley**19.06.10**
Hermione Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 H/J in the very first cube thing... We bought a fitted bed sheet from Lidl's because we were so cold and lay under it... ah good memories... Aww I was B/C. I assume you stayed over night, I take my hat off to you for that! I didn't but I would've LOVED a bed sheet. If I'd been in that wind any longer I think hypothermia would've set in, by the time they let us in I was shivering so much my sister had to pull me into the stadium. Must've looked like I was having a freak out over seeing the band haha.
Psycho Britney Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Aw man..this made me go and find my recap post I did after the June gigs! Good times. I'm glad I re-read it because I'd already forgotten some stupid special things...
Jaymee!! Posted June 19, 2011 Author Posted June 19, 2011 It's really weird, I was thinking about this earlier and wondering if anyone would make a thread for it... I also thought if it was going to be anyone, it'd be Jaymee I miss the tour so much. Haha, why did you think of me?! A year since the Razorbax gig and lining up at B/C, good lordy it was SO, SO VERY COLD. When they woke us up at 4am to move the line. goddddddamn those security guards. remember the massive fretting in the Wembley thread over which door was best, and how we made lists of who got where on their tickets? maaan, I didn't even have my wembley ticket at this point because of the stupid dispatch problems. They were quite nice, banging on the tables and watching us all shuffle along. I don't understand why we couldn't have just stay there in the first place, since it was a free-for-all to run right back to them. LOL I think I'm the worst at recognizing GDCers. Haha I remember when I introduced myself to you you still didn't know who I was. "I'm Jaymee!"...not really that difficult to link my real name to my GDC name
pasalaska Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 we would have been freezing our asses off this time last year right? and they moved us from the actual gate to the runway area around now too. I've never ever been so cold in my life, it was horrendous. (I can't remember whose photo this is sorry!) we're a glamorous bunch, right? LOL I think I'm the worst at recognizing GDCers. At the O2 I talked to some people for hours before I realized I'd known them on here for years . You can know people on here without knowing what they look like so it's easy for it to happen if neither of you happen to mention GDC. I think I should've asked everyone I met as soon as I met them. Probably easier for me or you to be recognized than most because of our recognizable names/usernames. heh, I've done that a few times over the tour, or I'll do it in reverse where people will talk to me on here after I've met them in real life (is that the right term?), and not realise who I'm talking to but yes, usernames that incorporate actual names > random unsernames, and our unusual names definitely make it easier.
xjernpqvrnbfv Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Ooooh it was so cold. But it was totally worth it. I remember talking to some british GDCers but i forgot the username by now Oh and i think i saw Hermione infront of the building but i didnt say hi, because i was too shy :[
pasalaska Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 oh man, remember the panicking over how big the 'golden circle' would be? We had the number at 400, then 4000, then 1000... we were all freaking out that none of us would get it, which is ridiculous looking back seeing as we were at the front of the line and getting our ticket from the ticket office at mid-day. that SUCKED.
Tre_Gina Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 ah Wembley, whenever I think of it the first thing that comes to mind is how cold and windy it was that day! I was in M/N queue. Also whenever Wembley comes on TV I always say "i've run out onto the pitch at wembley like those players" cos I was sprinting down those steps, onto the pitch and into the golden circle!
Harriet Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 This thread is amazing. Hermione I just remembered that you were queuing literally a couple of people in front of us at Wembley, I recognized you but I was too scared to say hi >.< Actually that goes for all the GDCers I saw that day. I'm such a dope. I remember *finally* getting into the stadium, speedwalking like crazy to get golden circle, getting in there and having to wairt absolutely forever for anything to happen. There was this middle aged guy behind us who was wearing a towel round his waist like he'd just got out of the shower, and he was being a real dick about not being nearer the front, and trying to push through people. People got pissed off with him pretty quickly. But seriously, who wears a towel to a concert?!
Undómiel Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Aww I was B/C. I assume you stayed over night, I take my hat off to you for that! I didn't but I would've LOVED a bed sheet. Must've looked like I was having a freak out over seeing the band haha. We didn't actually. We arrived at 6am though... Because it was summer I thought it would be okay to wear shorts and show up with wet hair.. thus: I nearly froze. I am an idiot. Never wearing shorts to a gig again unless it's guarenteed to be like 30 degrees! Also, any GDCers in this photo?
klytaemnestra Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 argh, i miss it so much i need to see them again so badly. dhjhsjakdlnbkh
86prosthetichead Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 i was at wembley cnat believe its been a year today so now i'm celebrating by wearing my gig tshirt and watching all the vids on youtube of the show. BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE EVER!
colour_me_stupid_ Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 I was guest listed and then asked to organise the idiots who got early entry. I was the one going round with the list trying to make sure everybody was there. next time they can organise themselves coz I had the shakes meeting so many peeps off the IC at one go! Oh I remember you! I was the red head
Agija Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 I miss Wembley so much. I spent more than 20 hours in the queue, didn't sleep at all and it was extremely cold but it was definitely one of the best days in my life. I got to meet awesome people and was in the front row. It was totally worth it all. I wish I could turn back time and be there again. I've been looking through the pictures I took that night for hours. <3
Hermione Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Squeezed in the queue with Lorraine this time a year ago And the awesome sign my sister and I made haha Haha I remember when I introduced myself to you you still didn't know who I was. "I'm Jaymee!"...not really that difficult to link my real name to my GDC name Really? I must've not realized straight away because I didn't know what you looked like and you could've been a different Jaymee . At least I didn't sit talking to you for several hours before I realized I knew you from GDC like I did with Laura and Hannah at the O2 lol. Count yourself lucky it only took me a few moments Ooooh it was so cold. But it was totally worth it. I remember talking to some british GDCers but i forgot the username by now Oh and i think i saw Hermione infront of the building but i didnt say hi, because i was too shy :[ Hermione I just remembered that you were queuing literally a couple of people in front of us at Wembley, I recognized you but I was too scared to say hi >.< Actually that goes for all the GDCers I saw that day. I'm such a dope. Aww! Nevermind, if either of you are ever at the same Green Day event as me again we'll make sure to say hello. I was looking out for GDCers/GDC wristbands but I wasn't very good at finding them. And I didn't get to see most of my Rocktober friends again because they'd opted not to queue up in the freezing wind. I could hardly leave the queue and when I did get the chance to try to go and talk to the people I knew near the front the security guards were telling us to "clear the area" after a couple of minutes because they were so paranoid about people pushing in. I was with awesome GDCers the whole day and said a quick hello to loads more to be fair , I'm just greedy and wanted to see everyone. We didn't actually. We arrived at 6am though... Because it was summer I thought it would be okay to wear shorts and show up with wet hair.. thus: http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/36886_399394289498_659814498_4398401_2594092_n.jpg I nearly froze. I am an idiot. Never wearing shorts to a gig again unless it's guarenteed to be like 30 degrees! Hahaha I was wearing a dress and footless tights. I thought surely it can't be THAT cold in June, I'll be fine. Oh how wrong I was. SO worth the cold once we got in that stadium though! And even though the queue was cold it was still loads of fun.
Mrs. Nobody Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 I do love the way the sun came out when GD came on so great
Jaymee!! Posted June 19, 2011 Author Posted June 19, 2011 http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/36886_399397039498_659814498_4398527_1152530_n.jpg Also, any GDCers in this photo? I dunno but I see Spiderman o.o Wembley was hilarious. Arriving at 12:30am still drunk from PPFA and knowing we should sleep, but just rolling around laughing for a good hour and a bit because it was so cold, getting woken up by security banging on their tables to tell us to move, everyone immediately falling back to sleep, Hannah arriving and handing out the GDC shirts and getting everyone to sign mine (that was the first time Aska started talking to me, and our two groups opened up to merge into one ), meeting SO MANY PEOPLE for the first time (Elisa, Anja, J'Net, Hermione, Glenn and Rebecca, Tom, seeing Agija but being too shy to go say hi to her), the literal free-for-all to get into the stadium and down to the pit...if I had been half a second faster I would've made it onto the barrier between Liz and Bubbles. But I didn't. Sadface. But I had a lot of fun moshing
