pasalaska Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 1 year since Rock Werchter and the end of my europe GD adventure Werchter was good fun - we went straight from Mainz to Brussels in the morning, stored our luggage and then hopped on a bus to the festival. Basically sat in the boiling heat on the barrier all day. We got bored during the opening acts, rocked out to Rise Against, got bored again, got badly crushed when Hayley Williams ran down from the stage and hugged someone in the crowd next to us upon their request, Jared Leto caused me a nosebleed and kicked Sarah in the boob and was an asshole, then it was boring, then Green Day came on, and much amazingness happened. here are my videos: Billie talking about Adie Billie and the sex doll Sarah singing Longview! epic King For A Day and Shout: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=od5CHuF1buM photos! no steal. my once pristine white shoes got all crummy over the tour Jared Leto did this https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/35107_408966733546_785278546_4703842_8003095_n.jpg the scary stage dive so far from the stage getting Billie's guitar

Love the running commentry of your day too sounds like you had a blast! I am intrigued though, what the hell did Jared Leto do to make your nose bleed? that's an awful lot of blood
Four. Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 what the hell did Jared Leto do to make your nose bleed? that's an awful lot of blood I think he runs around in the crowd like a mad hen. See Closer To The Edge video.

Four. Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Just youtubed it! Does he seriously stand on the barrier like that?! Crazy dude, no wonder people get hurt! If they got the footage, it's for real. I was super excited to try and see them and stuff, but I keep seeing live performances and well... they suck. Plus, if Jared acts like that, there's no way in hell I'm seeing them. /offtopic.

I am intrigued though, what the hell did Jared Leto do to make your nose bleed? that's an awful lot of blood he was being an inconsiderate douchebag all through their set, but what he did to cause me my nosebleed was say 'the next 10 people to crowdsurf to the front get on stage' so of course all these people started to clamber and surf over our heads overwhelming the security guards, and one person kicked me in the back of the head on their way over cause there was no security to catch them, next thing I know my nose is bleeding. He didn't try and do anything to stop the people. You can see him apologise in this video at 1.47: and him standing on the barrier! that was the song before the nosebleed incident. We'd been shooting evil glares back at one another throughout their entire set and he'd told us to get into it a few times, yet he chose to stand exactly where we were on the barrier. As in, RIGHT in front of us. We were pissed off so we undid the velcro on his shoe, and he pulled back his leg and kicked Sarah right in the boob. I shouted at him for it, and he said sorry to her and swore at me saying 'I didn't fucking touch you' even though he stood on my arm. The dick. There's a really god video somewhere of him kicking Sarah and us shouting at each other. I'm trying to find it now.

He blatently stood on right on your bit of the barrier to piss you off then, and that was before the nosebleed. I can't believe he'd actually physically kick a girl, that's so wrong! Good on you for standing up for your mate though! I hope you managed to enjoy Green Day afterwards and it didn't competely fuck up your night

Nothing could have ruined GD's show though here's a video - it's not the one I was looking for but it shows it still - you can see him kick at about 1.16, then drop down and argue with us and then point at us

He just looks like he doesn't even give a shit! That's great the security were concerned though, I've been pulled out over the barrier at much smaller shows just cos they can't be arsed to deal with it. I'm just glad it didn't spoil Green Day for you

I'm just glad it didn't spoil Green Day for you The security at Werchter were some of the best I've ever seen - I can't praise them enough, which is testament to how out of control jared leto made the crowd so that even they couldn't handle the influx of crowdsurfers. The head of the security looked at me when he first saw me with my nosebleed like he was offering to get me out of there, but I gripped the barrier and told him in no uncertain terms that I was not leaving no matter what he actually kinda laughed at me at that point in a nice way and that's when he called the medic, who just gave me a load of cloth to stop the bleeding. Security guy even helped me clean up the blood off my face after it stopped before GD came on. Ah, good security can really make a good show great
-Billiejoezee- Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Oh my god Aska that sounds horrible. And I've actually wanted to see them live. :/ Ahhhh Mainz. I remember freaking out with everyone here on gdc when the tweets came in about billie's hair. And pulling teeth. Such a sad moment. I threw a fit here when I found out they played pulling teeth. I think a few people remember.
drumstick Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 one year since Heineken disaster this is how my "fuck time" sign and ticket look like now.
colour_me_stupid_ Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Ah, good security can really make a good show great Hell yes The security guy at Glasgow throwing confetti on me and Glen was so funny
Comedy & Tragedy Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 I remember this time last year, I was kinda caught in a place between complete happiness and post-concert sadness. I was feeling really bummed out, mostly because I missed talking to the GDCers, and the other setlists were bugging me a bit. One thing I really remember though, was that as soon as I saw the post about the Heineken festival in GD.com, I felt sick. It just made me so grateful for the concert I went to, and I just couldn't imagine what it must have been like to everyone who was supposed to go.
colour_me_stupid_ Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Someone want to refresh my memory and tell me what happened at this Heineken festival thing? I completely forget..
Mary711 Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 It must have been such a sad day for those who attented the Heineken festival.
pasalaska Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 This time last year I was in amsterdam and was kinda unaware of my post concert depression we were worried about Liz though, cause she was at the festival. That was a scary day of facebook updates.
Mary711 Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Someone want to refresh my memory and tell me what happened at this Heineken festival thing? I completely forget.. Wasn't it due to the bad weather that GD wasn't allowed to play anymore? I think I remember people saying how they saw Tre on the stage and then they needed to go off it again. Imagine that situation, very tough for both the fans and the band I guess.
Comedy & Tragedy Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Here's what went down: "'We wanted to let all of our Italian fans know that we are very disappointed that we were not able to perform last night at the Heineken Festival in Venice. For those that do not know, a very bad thunder storm hit the festival about 30 minutes before we were scheduled to play. The storm was insane! Thunder, lightning, hail and the hardest rain we have ever seen! The storm only lasted a little over an hour but the flooding and damage to the stage and sound system were severe. As the techs were attempting to make repairs the fire brigade and city safety officials made the call that the show was cancelled. We stayed on site at the festival until late in the evening hoping that we could find a way to still play. This was not the way we wanted to end our tour! We love our fans and love Italy! We are just as disappointed as all of our fans that the show was cancelled. - Green Day'"
pasalaska Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 yeah, apparently the wind was pretty ferocious and was breaking parts of the stage.
Jaymee!! Posted July 4, 2011 Author Posted July 4, 2011 I remember hearing about that day...and Liz's hatred for Italy rekindled at all the shows in August, thanks to the graffiti on the set. Were they the only band not able to play at the end of the day?
colour_me_stupid_ Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Aw, that's horrible Sounds more like something that'd be more likely to happen in Ireland than in Italy though
~ Walking Contradiction Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Heineken jammin' festival? Worst day EVER... look at the sky it rained for about an hour and a half...just before Green Day went on stage...we waited there even if the rain was falling and it was fucking cold. Then the security told us that the concert was cancelled, that's all they told us. oh god I'm crying
