Satan Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 And THIS is why I LOVE GDC, and why I ADORE Green Day. thanks for reminding me.
ash.loves.gd Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Holy shit! You've put words to what I feel, when I couldn't even find them myself. This is a beautiful piece of writing and I am teary-eyed. Thank you for taking the time to write this post, i'm so happy I came across it. I love all of you <-------- there's some more love EDIT: This is exactly how I feel about Green Day too. 6 Years ago when I was in 11th grade I was feeling kind of down for not having many friends, being picked on in school, not having a boyfriend, etc and then I heard this song on the radio which described exactly how I felt lonely. That song was Boulevard Of Broken Dreams. Everything that you have written happened to me, but in the 6th grade. Very creepy, but extremely awesome and my signature at the moment is coincidently BOBD
gloria123 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 this is why i love you all on GDC we may have different backgrounds or come from different places but at the end of the day we all have something in common...our love for Green Day!!
BringMoreKnives Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Dude. That just might be the best, most true thing I have ever read.
Pedestrian9394 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 "Green Day is always there to tell you that it is going to be okay. There's nothing wrong with you, this is how you're supposed to be." This brought me to tears. It's people like you who make me want to be a better writer everyday. That was some good shit.
Sarabeth Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 This is exactly how I feel about Green Day too. 6 Years ago when I was in 11th grade I was feeling kind of down for not having many friends, being picked on in school, not having a boyfriend, etc and then I heard this song on the radio which described exactly how I felt lonely. That song was Boulevard Of Broken Dreams. And to this day I still think about that song because I still do feel that way sometimes and ever since I met Billie I've liked the band even more. I think I'm going to like Green Day for the rest of my life. That's the same for me. I don't have very many friends, and I've never been close to having a boyfriend. I used to feel really sad about it, and I felt like there was something missing in my life, but ever since I got into Green Day, I don't care. I feel like I don't need anybody, that I'm fine by myself. And I have all of you guys too.
Zelda Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I think you've seen inside my head, because you seem to understand, the things I value in my heart. /cheesy But in all seriousness, that was truly amazing. You have effortlessly stated everything I have to say about Green Day. What they have done for me, what they mean to me, everything. Thank you.
Melafun Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Ok this is really late but I just found this but I have to say. Thank you for writing this! This sums up way I love green day and the green day fans so much. So thank you!
DoodleBob Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 You sir, are amazing. You just summed up how I feel (and reading the comments, I can tell I'm not alone.) This is why I'm proud to call myself a Green Day fan. Yes, we all agree Green Day is awesome as fuck, but the fans are also the reason why I love Green Day. We ARE a community. Every single thing you wrote was true (except Mike wrote 'Nobody Likes You', but I couldn't give a shit if you got that wrong because the rest is flawless.) You're awesome as fuck!
Dylan. Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 Okay, I owe you guys some big "Thank You"'s all around. First off though, I'd like to give just a bit of explanation. My fiancee and I have been together for nearly 15 months now, and she is my best friend in the whole world. She knew right off the bat that I was a huge Green Day fan. (Kinda easy to tell about me.) She told me in passing that she used to be a huge fan, and she still loves them. Well, I didn't really think much of it, because everybody likes a Green Day song. One day, I was talking to her on the phone, and I started to sing my favorite Green Day song, "Minority." She gasped and started to sing along with me. She told me that Minority was her favorite Green Day song. I was in shock, because I had taken her for an "American Idiot" bandwagon fan. That night, I found something out about her that gave me a greater sense of connection to her and to the Green Day Community. I felt silly for feeling so touched over these events. I thought, "Big deal. We love the same Green Day songs. So?" But it's bigger than that, am I right, GDC? Sharing Green Day with an outsider is beautiful. There is something so special about singing a Green Day song, and looking out into a crowd of people and seeing which ones look up automatically. Chances are, you just spotted a Green Day fan. So, I thought I would write a rendition of "You Might Be A GDCer" jokes. Please feel free to enjoy. If you carry a lighter everywhere with you, just in case "Wake Me Up When September Ends" comes on the radio...You might be a GDCer. If you hear "Gives You Hell" on the radio and begin to seethe with rage because the All American Rejects stole their band name from a Nimrod track...you might be a GDCer. If you have spoken the bass interlude to "Holiday" whilst your class is pledging allegiance to the flag...you might be a GDCer. If you say "I concur" as a response to almost everything...you might be a GDCer. If you've ever gotten into a vocal dispute over the end lyrics in "Hitchin' A Ride"....you might be a GDCer. If you have done the research while listening to "The Colbert Report" theme song and realized that it is a song performed by Cheap Trick from the late seventies, and then became disappointed because you realize that Green Day's "One For The Razorback" isn't what Colbert got the theme song from...you might be a GDCer. And finally...If you have slapped a bitch in the face for spelling his name BILLY JOE....you're fucking awesome and I love you. =] Thank you all for your responses. I love you GDC. And I always always will. Rage and Love Dylan Starks
Ashley! Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 They make it okay to say Dookie in a sophisticated environment. lol I love this, but its so true. When Billie Joe wrote, "Nobody Likes you, Everyone Left you, They're all out without you, Having fun," I believe he was singing the anthem of our lives. We live in a world where nobody may give a damn, and we may have nothing but each other. But that's okay, because we have each other. There ARE people out there that care about us, if we just listen closely enough. This is exactly how I feel, but i've never really been able to put it in words. I thank you for that.
drumstick Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Thank you so much for sharing this! You made my day
DoodleBob Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I felt silly for feeling so touched over these events. I thought, "Big deal. We love the same Green Day songs. So?" But it's bigger than that, am I right, GDC? You ARE right. Actually, I've gotten to the point when someone says that they are a Green Day fan, I get the biggest, goofiest smile on my face. I didn't know why until I read you're post. It's because we are connected, we've felt the same pain, and Green Day was there in our time of need. To know that some one has the same interest as you is nice, but like you said, it's bigger than that with Green Day. Thank you for helping me realize things I couldn't before. ^.^ If you've ever gotten into a vocal dispute over the end lyrics in "Hitchin' A Ride"....you might be a GDCer. And finally...If you have slapped a bitch in the face for spelling his name BILLY JOE....you're fucking awesome and I love you. I have actually done both of those things. Me and my friend were arguing what Billie was saying. I was stating that he was counting, and my friend was stating that he was saying random things. I guess the world may never know! xD And I HAVEN'T slapped a bitch in the face (sorry to dissapoint:P) but I have made them sit through a five minute lecture of why Billie's name is spelt the way it is. ^.^ Rage and Love: ~Karly ♥
-Billiejoezee- Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 This is so great. Thanks for sharing this with all of us.
