Clockwise Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 I think this is a really cool idea. Definitely into the idea of music being on shuffle 24/7 with specific times for different shows. Sounds awesome.
Red Lights Flash Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Using Winamp/Shoutcast, you can easily do things like that. All you need is a host, but there are various Shoutcast hosting sites out there (serverroom.us). Price goes up as max amount of listeners goes up. I've done this a few times, but I don't recommend it to be honest unless it's just talkshows. You can get into serious legal trouble if you play music without permission. (yes, I've seen a site shutting down because of this)

(yes, I've seen a site shutting down because of this) Yeah this is something we'll have to consider. It'd be nice to be able to play some of the original music, but there's plenty of other things we can do. Fan covers have been mentioned, and we might be able to play clips of people's live recordings, for example.

You guys (GDA) have contact with the band, no? I'm sure if you guys get a signed assent, you could play the music without fearing getting sued or something.

Four. Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Potentially, not too sure about that. Yeah, I suppose Warner's lawyers would disregard anything with the band's approval whatsoever for the money. Sigh.
bollard_11 Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Great idea. I plan on calling in and just breathing down like a creepy stalker

captain peroxide Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 I hadn't thought of the problem of playing music, as Jorick said. That could put a complete kibosh on this idea if we can't figure out a way around it.
Lindsay Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 I like this idea. But like Alex said, I think it would be kind of pointless to have this and the podcast... it'd just be the same news over and over again, if you know what I mean? But that's just my two cents.
koolkev Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Would be epic Keep me posted. I'd love to listen/help out if possible.
Graysen Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Freaking awesome idea! Especially the call-ins. Totally down with that, for sure! I hope this idea becomes a reality.
TheSaltOfTheEarth Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 I think this is a fantastic idea - I like the idea of having a constant stream, but then a regularly scheduled show with hosts and whatnot every so often.
Sarabeth Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 This sounds like an awesome Idea! It would be the only radio that I would listen to

tunisia wants greenday Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 excited about it ! that would be so cool
justcause Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 I do like the idea of limiting the time when it happens, because then it becomes an event in itself, more than just a place to listen to music and banter. Brings a touch of what the live podcasts where, and I don't think that could happen if it was constantly running. I agree - I think it's more intense to have a once-a-week slot where everyone is listening, it brings people together. Some of the best times on this site are when we're all watching or listening to something together. Great idea, Tony!!
