It's pure and utter Green Day when they play it live...for a taste of their live performance to someone who hasn't got a clue I would show them this song because it gives an energy and a passion that gets even the shyest of concert goers to their feet. I'd always wait to the end to see if they would say the artist, and they never did, and I'd get so pissed off cause I loved it so much I think I may have ended up googling the words to try and find lyrics so I could then get the artist, but I couldn't understand what Billie was singinig some of the time, so I'd be googling the wrong lyrics I bought AI not long after that. I love playing this song, and i love the rebellious message that it sends out. Hearing this song live is an experience in its own because its get so emotional and personal by everyone who listens to it, and at the end, everyone just wants to punch a hole through the wall!! Every time I hear this song I think of Friday August 27th when I left my house in Idaho to drive to Denver to see the concert the next day. Right as we turned to get on the freeway my mom turned on the radio and Holiday had just started. It was all perfect timing. It was the first second that I realized that in 24 hours I would probably be listening to the song live. And then actually hearing the song live when the entire audience shouts back the "hey!"s and "amen!". Thats when I realized how we are a unit. Us Green Day fans are united together and with Green Day. So this song makes me feel really special, and that I actually belong with a group of people. No one was home except for us and Holiday was coming up. And, just as my grandparents, aunt, and uncle walk in the house, they hear Billie shout "DO YOU WANT TO START A FUCKING WAR??!!!". I had a class when AI came out and I wrote the lyrics in my note book,changing my style of hand writing for how I felt. I got a not back saying "Don't you have anything better to do?" When I first heard it I wondered who this guy with the deep, pure voice was Exactly... This song is why I'm here, it's why I listen to them everyday and I can't live without doing that... I have still got a close relation with this song... Everytime I start listening to it I feel a great emotion, I close my eyes and it's like it can fill every little void of my soul, it's like I'm a part of it and it is a part of me...
