I_am_minority Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 the bit in Jesus of Suburbia on that first line 'Dearly Beloved are you listening?' gets me every time
WestboundSign! Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Christie Road. Not just a line, it's the whole song. I don't really know why, but every time I listen to that song, I feel so damn close to it. I know that feeling from nearly every Green Day song, but when I listen to Christie Road.. it's something special.
Punk-tastic32 Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Good quality live concert footage. Almost any song, but the first time I watch it, I'm sure to get chills at least once.
whatsup? Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I have many, many moments, of course ... but perhaps one of the nicest, when in Whatsername sounds the epic guitar part ...and Billie Joe face... end of the video
alaniluau Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 What a difficult topic! There are an infinite number, but a few that stand out at the moment: -Josh Freese's brother's piano solo in live 21 Guns -When Billie goes high on the "don't let the bonfires go out" bit of live VLG! -"You better run for your fucking life." -"I'm taking all you down with me." Hearing it live blew my mind. -Davey and Billie doing a duet of WWHC. I tear up every time I see that clip. -"Waste another year flies by, waste a night or two." Hearing Billie sing that bit in the musical was one of the most chilling moments I've experienced in my life. I can still hear it ringing in my ears.
Reeeeese Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Are We The Waiting live gets me every time... For some reason, Don't Leave Me on 1039 does it to me too, a little. I think it's just his voice in the song. "In the streets of shame" part, gives me chills... I think it's the harmonies or something. There are soo many, it's hard to choose them on the spot.
Robin105 Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Pretty much any song for me but one song I can really think of now is "I feel lonely for all the losers that will never take the time to say what was really on there mind instead they just hide away" from When Its Time. Because it's true. Especially when your dating and all the people you didn't like or didn't like you you feel like saying your loss. Theres a few others but I cant think of them right now. Actually a lot of there songs give me chills and have a very good point to them
I_am_minority Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 "I don't feel any shame I won't apologize..." As soon as I hear that part I get goosebumps. You just know something massive is about to happen. i was just about to post the same thing haha
YehItsRyan Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 The drum interlude from 21st CB. The Static Age as a whole and this version of Welcome to Paradise, I just the love way the sound ramps up in volumes when Jason and Mike join in with the intro http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQpgB1hxMrA
Tre_Gina Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 for me.... 21 guns when all the pyros go off 21st century breakdown... we are the desperate in the decline Raised by the bastards of 1 2 3 4 BANG The whole of time of your life
Fanny. Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 There's just so many songs that give me chills, I cant name them all! - all the ones Ive heard live obviously gave me goosebumps haha. Well it was way more than goosebumps! - the beginning of Scattered - Christie Road, Jesus of Suburbia, She from the beginning to the end - Mikes fucking amazing bass line in Stuart and the Ave - Letterbomb live when Billie sings all quietly "where will we all go when it's too late" - American Eulogy live - "You taught me how to live" in Homecoming - When Billie sang "what the hells your name" in the musical - When the cast were doing Whatsername, the part when they scream "and in the darkest night" followed by the music just got me the four times I've seen the musical And much much more (:
colour_me_stupid_ Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 When I listened to the demo version of 21st CB, I was like ohhh my god It must have been so hard to choose between the piano intro and the intro they did choose. Leading from that, when I skipped school to buy the 21st CB album, and when I listened to the intro I almost cried The end of Whatsername, after "forgetting you but not the time" I'll have to have a think to come up with more!
AnnA™ Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 So many! The only one I can remember right now, the part in Letterbomb that goes: She said I can't take this place, I'm leaving it behind Well she said I can't take this town, I'm leaving you tonight JUST EPIC! From Whatsername: And in the darkess night, if my memory serves me right I’ll never turn back time, forgetting you but not the time I’m not surprised most of them are from American Idiot. The’ve put so much emotion into that record! I love it! I agree, these give me chills as well! Edit: And the intro to Homecoming! I could go on and on. I'll probably come up with a lot more.
Smoothed Out Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Oooh cool topic...um like most 21 Guns live (piano solo) along with the Holiday (the representative of the [insert place name here] ), Jesus of Suburbia (Tales from another broken home), Homecoming (Death of St. Jimmy) and the instrumental part of WMUWSE when the sparks used to fall during its live performance back in the AI tour
oscar is a nimrod Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I especially love Christie road. The whole song just makes me feel close to the band, kinda because it makes me feel like they were the same as me once.
Karen. Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 So many possibilities, I agree with lots of the above mentioned. A great thread as now I want to re-listen to all of those moments. Also want to add, the bridge in 21 Guns as sung by Rebecca Naomi Jones, so epic every time, even if you see it twice in one day, it never gets old.
Askur Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I'm going to limit myself to only discussing five points, as I look like I'm having an epileptic fit (figure of speech here) when I listen to Green Day. First of, the Intro to Holiday. It just gets me every time. Favorite song by far. The bridge as well, delicious. The Intro to Homecoming. "My heart is beating from me" really strikes a chord with me. "Dearly beloved" in JoS is so amazing. In fact, most of both Homecoming JoS almost drive me to tears. Minority and Castaway out of Warning, especially lyrically. This theme of not belonging and wanting to find your own way in the world. Two things that really gets to me on 21thCB is the "Sister of Grace!" in Viva la Gloria? and that last "G L O R I A!" Horseshoes and Hand grenades. I left out the obvious "Time of your life" point, as I have yet to meet a person who isn't moved to tears by that song XD
Tubbie Head Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 The whole piano part of Viva La Gloria! EVERY TIME, I think it's because of Billie's beautiful voice.. for me.... 21 guns when all the pyros go off 21st century breakdown... we are the desperate in the decline Raised by the bastards of 1 2 3 4 BANG The whole of time of your life Oh yes <3 all this
JuliaX_Ray2020 Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 with every breath that I am worth here on earth sending all my love to you - Last night on earth
Zelda Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 So many good examples on this thread. 'Remember, whatever, it seems like forever ago' and 'Forgetting you but not the time' in Whatsrrname. The chorus of WMUWSE. There are too many to list.
Jaymee!! Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 It's not on the album, but when Jason hits the really low notes on the piano during JOS at their shows (after Billie sings 'tales from another broken...') and it just goes on and on and on...chills and tears every single time.
