ANJI Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I havent heard this song in a while...but its truly an awesome song!
Bastard of 1967 Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 TBH this one's never been one of my "favorite" Green Day songs. Not to say I don't enjoy listening to it, but I don't put it in the same class of songs as, for example She, JoS, Westbound Sign, Minority, and 21stCB fit into -- the lyrics just aren't as deep, complex, or well-developed as these are. So, I think I approach the song from the same direction as I do songs like 1,000 Hours -- "fun, furious, cheesy little love song." The music and rhythm the band uses here is really unique though -- I mean, who else could successfully pull off setting a song like this against Tre's high-tempo percussion? And in that sense, "Hearts Collide" might be understating things -- it should be more like "Hearts Annhilate Each Other". The retro vibe pulls some of the sound of The Network and FBHT into the mix, and Mike's harmonies with Billie are just wonderful, especially that final chord they hold together at the end.
letterbomb_19 Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 on iTunes, in the Know Your Enemy EP. Also has lights out on it. thank you mike co-wrote Hearts Colide? how great! I didin´t know
Smoothed Out Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 This is one of those songs I rarely listen to and tend to forget about, but when it comes on shuffle I'm like why the hell don't I listen to this more??? Awesome song, one of the best b-sides...next to Lights Out anyway
Zelda Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Love this song Definitely one of my favorite b sides. The lyrics are cheesy though.
GDInsaniac Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I'll admit, i dont like this song at all. I dont know, it just doesnt seem like a green day song at all. Its like mixing Last Night on Earth with American Idiot or something like that, I personal do not like it. (Probably why its a B-Side).
Guest Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I don't really care for this song. It's ok, but nothing I'd go out of my way to listen to.
Fiona? Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 This song didn't really get to me until it was played on an episode of Static Noise, and then I really came to appreciates it! The opening lines "Love conquers all / When two hearts com to collide" are my favorite lyrics of the song. It'd be cool to see The Foxboro Hot Tubs throw this into a live setlist!
LauraG Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I love this song! It's so 50's! And the lyrics are so sweet!

Silverlight Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I really do love this song, like I love every Green Day song, but sometimes it brings me down because it's about love and all that....
Dai. Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 This song brings me back to 2 years ago when I was falling in love.
Disapperingirl Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 It's a b-side, but it's totally AWESOME!!! it could be officially on 21st Century Breakdown...I do love its sound, it reminds me an older rock (to me, NOT pop!!)...and wonderful lyrics
Kayfabe Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Love conquers every time. Love the certainty of it somuch. And don't half mind the beeyoutiful harmonies in it, although me and my friends are awed by Mike's vocal range. I struggle to hit as high as he does sometimes
longlostson Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 i love this song. easy to sing to. and the guitar solo reminds me of the Beach Boys. and we, just the beach.
deletethisaccount Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 The harmony's and sunny day feeling is what makes this song for me. I think the guitar solo is also probably the best one they've recorded since like, 1992.
-Billiejoezee- Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Love this song. It has this country sound to it that I love.
Annie, get your gun Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I was listening to it and, my favorite line is "You're the card in my valentine, and the candy hearts in my mind..." Sounds so childlike, but beautiful at the same time.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Such a cute song Especially, as others have also said, this line "You're the card in my valentine and the candy hearts in my mind" This is a sappy love song that doesn't get too cheesy for me. I don't listen to it very often as I'm usually not really in the mood for it, but I like it. It's not a genius song or anything, but it's nice. And really cute Also this would be super fun to sing on Rock Band or some singing/music game, with all the harmonies.
greendaytone Posted May 26, 2011 Author Posted May 26, 2011 Been listening to this song all week, i really like it. One of those songs that can make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, if you're that way inclined

I actually hadn't listened to it for a little while because I have it on a CD right after A Quick One While He's Away and I always end up putting that on repeat. But I've been listening to it loads today. I really love Green Day songs that aren't like other Green Day songs.
Psycho Britney Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 This is the first time I've heard this all the way through. It's so sweet. I love the musicality of this song (it that's an actual word!) The vocal harmonies and the guitars are awesome. It really does sound like the Beach Boys of the Beatles!
Shnitzel Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 I love this song, and it's one of my favorite GD Songs. Something about it just makes me happy : )
