RANTING TIME :woot:

Sooo first of all Happy Birthday 21st Century Breakdown!!

Then I really gotta say thank you 1,000 times.

This was the first album that I experienced all the excitement for ect. meaning the previews and the waiting and all so its something very special to me.

I started being a Green Day fan pretty much inbeetween the AI and 21stCB era (end of 2006/beginning of 2007) so there was nothing Green Day related going on but ever since then I knew "Green Day's next alum" is going to be something special to me so I started waiting and really getting into them, experiencing all the Foxoboro Hot Tubs stuff and all. Green Day became a bigger and bigger part of my life and then when the first studio recordings in late 2008 got released my heart stood fucking still and I was crying all over. It was such an emotional moment and I knew that now finally the new era begun.

So I got even more excited when the AP article appeared and when they were at the Grammys. Then when the name of the album and release date got announced I got even more pumped and all. So I made this countdown on papers and crossed out a day everyday counting down from 200 something days. It was an incredible time. When Know Your Enemy got released I was really damn glad and excited as well and all but a little dissapointed as well, just because its still not one of my favorite songs and I can relate to other songs on the record way better. However when May 15th finally arrived I skipped school and drove to Freiburg to get the normal and special version at once and I was literally crying when holding it in my hands. After 2 1/2 years of waiting for it (and in that time Green Day started to be my life and one of the most important things to me). So I went home and lyed down on my bed still very emotional but calm and relaxed and started listening to it all the way through and I was immideately blown away. Especially by 21st Century Breakdown,iViva la Gloria!,Before the Lobotomy,Peacemaker,Viva la Gloria (Little Girl),American Eulogy and very, very much by Restless Heart Syndrome which is now probably in the Top 3 of my all time favorite songs, just because i have such a huge emotional connection to it and because I can relate to it so much it means a lot to me.

However on that day as well there was a Green Day special day on MTV which made ´the day even more epic to me. So I can happily say that this was one of the best days of my life and even though I now think that the album isnt as good anymore, mostly because AI will still forever remain my very favorite album.

But fuck those 2 years ran by way too fast. Where did the time go seriously? However, 21stCB I still lvoe you to death. :)

*gasps*

I can't believe its been 2 years! Like seriously I remember it like it was yesterday, aaah Green Day were on TV doing loads of interviews and stuff, oh how I miss that. I always consider 21CB one of their best albums, and the 21CB tour was just mind blowing. Happy Birthday 21st Century Breakdown!

This was the first album of theirs that I ever heard, so it's pretty special. I loved the style of it, and how it kinda had a story, and I thought the music was really good. It's the album that made me curious to listen to their older stuff, and I'll have to admit, I couldn't believe that they were the same Green Day that put out everything pre-AI. But after I developed an ear for Billies voice, I could see that they were the same band.

So this album is Really special to me, and I don't view it as a weaker album. I love it to death, and it's how I identify Green Day. Without it, I wouldn't be the person that I am today

Edit: I just remembered that 21st CB was the first Green Day song that I ever heard. I just randomly came across it on YouTube, and I liked the music video so I bought it! And look where I am today :D

I remember this arrived in the morning post two years ago and I was so happy because it meant I could download it quickly and have to listen to on the way down to London. I seem to recall that by the time that weekend in London was over, 'Peacemaker' had a play count of about 54... :whistle

Happy Birthday 21st Century Breakdown!!!!

I always told myself they could outdo American Idiot, for me they did anyway. When I think about what I thought the album would sound like and what it actually did sound like, I am always amazed at how my expectations weren't even close. This album is a perfect representation of how unpredictable their music really is. Two years really went by fast, didn't it?

I don't even know, like...I just fucking love this album so much; and the wonderful memories I associate with that amazing tour. I am endlessly, endlessly thankful.

This band literally is my life.

I’ve just had the immense pleasure of listening to 21CB as loud as I possibly could! My neighbors must be really mad at me by now but I don’t care! It’s 21CB’s birthday! Let's celebrate!

God...where to begin with this?

I became a Green Day fan about early to mid 2008...I remember hearing the first news of it, and couldn't wait until the day it came out: the first Green Day album that I had a chance to look forward to. I remember when they appeared onstage at the Grammy's, and just seeing them on TV for the first time while actually knowing who they were. I remember the first preview of Know Your Enemy, my face like :woot:, in awe of how amazing it was, and pissed that it was such a short preview.

Then, the album came out. We went to Best Buy after school, and I grabbed the Special Edition as soon as I got int there....I was so antsy to get home and listen to it. And, of course, as I expected, it was amazing. Then, a few months later, I saw them live. I wasn't even able to register what was going on during the first few songs because I was overwhelmed by the fact that I was seeing Green Day live.

And to this day, 2 years later, it is still amazing. Happy birthday, 21st Century Breakdown. You have brought me some of my favorite songs, my first Green Day concert, and brought me closer to my favorite band of all time.

Two years later and it's still one of my most frequently listened to albums. Can't believe it's already been two years, it feels like I was just listening to it for the first time yesterday.
