Amanda Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Hmmm, that's odd then. Maybe aliens temporarily hijacked his brain for a few moments. He should get himself one of those tin foil hats to prevent it from happening again.
Rebel07 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I'm seeing RA & Bad Religion tonight in KC.. I wonder if he says these words of nonsense every night..
aldyofficial Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I'm seeing RA & Bad Religion tonight in KC.. I wonder if he says these words of nonsense every night.. wear your Green Day shirt!!
scottrowan200 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 that sucks .... i guess green days shows are so big maybe the promoters pick the support ... and hence why they get younger new bands ... im not sure maybe hes jelous
Alan86 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 If Green Day were aware that Bad Religion were interested in being an opening act for them I'm almost certain Green Day would have taken them on tour. On the otherhand I really couldn't care less about opening acts.
Karen. Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I remember reading somewhere that Green Day said they respect Bad Religion too much to let them open for them This is the impression I get from the band in general.
Nobody_Likes_You Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Wow, I really like Bad Religion, but I sooo hope, that Greg won't turn into a second John Lydon.
gdpony Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Wow, this really sucks. What he said is really disrespectful, and not true so it makes it even worse. It's a shame he said that in front of so many people.
oscar is a nimrod Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 that sucks .... i guess green days shows are so big maybe the promoters pick the support ... and hence why they get younger new bands ... im not sure maybe hes jelous joan jett and the blackhearts aren't exactly new on the scene but i guess if the promoters pick then that would bring more attraction. tbh it sounds like this guy is usually pretty cool , sad to hear he is a bit jealous/bitter of green day or whatever....
ParadoxAndPlaid Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 What did he mean by "Don't give back" exactly? Because if he means in a philanthropic way. He's wrong. Green Day does a ton of giving back, maybe he should do some research before he has a little pissing party on stage next time... and if he's talking about helping out other bands, Green Day has always been really supportive of their friends bands.

Returning the favour, basically.
AndrewW91 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Mr. Graffin is my hero next to BJA. He was probably just making a joke. I've heard Greg say things about liking Green Day in a few recent bootlegs. A Bad Religion and Green Day tour would make my life, btw. Especially if they threw in Social D.
pasalaska Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 A Bad Religion and Green Day tour would make my life, btw. Especially if they threw in Social D. A touch of Rancid wouldn't go astray there either. That'd be epic. /offtopic
Boston Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Yeah, exactly The guy's amazing. I really hope we hear something more about this that explains it, cause this is extremely out of character. Word. I just saw Bad Religion a few weeks ago on the same tour. They thanked Rise Against and mentioned that they had taken them out when they were a young band, but they didn't bash anyone. He did mention how Bad Religion is a band on the decline several times, though. Maybe he's old and bitter. A Bad Religion and Green Day tour would make my life, btw. Especially if they threw in Social D. Jesus Christ, can you imagine?
stories and songs Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Not cool or called for at all. Green Day seems to get along pretty well with other bands and they also seem to enjoy taking people out on the road with them. I highly doubt they would turn down Bad Religion if they wanted to tour with them. Maybe it was just a joke? Hmm. Odd.
Riotgrrl_GD Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 Ugh. Greg's better than that, come on. I always thought so... there were other "have pity for BR" things said too. I think they were salty about playing to such a young crowd (RA fans) and kept saying like "you're so good for sitting through an old band" (which could have been taken in jest if it weren't for the jab at GD, and me ). It was weird because they would say how thankful they were but then acted like they were actually pissed about having to be there. AND, I agree Aska! How are they "opening" for anyone? At least that's how I felt before these comments were made. Like I said, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. It was definately a downer and not a good idea just 1 song into their set. Sadness... I'm sort of surprised. In fact, Jay said that Green Day asked Bad Religion to open for them, but BR couldn't do it because they had plans to support TDoM... Maybe Greg was being sarcastic/joking? I dunno. Blah blah blah. Edit: Note that this was last year, before the album came out, I believe. Sorry, not a joke at all. I wish it had been! I was totally taken by surprise.

Returning the favour, basically. I see. I'm sure if it was brought to their attention they would be more than happy to have them on tour. It's not like the guys would snub them on purpose. Besides, weren't they doing that "30 Years Live" -if that what it was called?- tour at the same time Green Day was touring?
Riotgrrl_GD Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 I'm seeing RA & Bad Religion tonight in KC.. I wonder if he says these words of nonsense every night.. I had this same though! Let us know!

Green Day certainly haven't snubbed Bad Religion, as people have already posted, Billie has said that he respects BR too much to have them as a support. But I'm sure that if BR approached GD and asked for the support slot, they'd give it to them. Obviously this is just a guess, but there's certainly no bad blood between the two bands that I've ever heard of, until this, which is why it's so strange to hear.
cabot_girl Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I really wish Green Day would have some of the 90's punk band to open for them, or co-headline a tour. I dream of Green Day and Rancid, NOFX or Bad Religion...or others.. My biggest dream is for Green Day to quit do so many mainstream stuff, and become a bit less popular. They have more than enough money now, I want Billie to relax and have fun. I think they are better that way. Billie Joe and Tim Armstrong sharing stage is one of my biggest dreams ever. I wish they would start release their albums on Adeline or another smaller label. You guys know Emily's Army right? One thing is that they are on Adeline, but presshandling and booking is by Hollywood major companies. I don't think that is a good thing for the band, they might get too "big" way too fast this way, and ruin their potential. Only my opinions...please respect that.
AndrewW91 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 A touch of Rancid wouldn't go astray there either. That'd be epic. /offtopic That'd be an epic fucking tour. And they all got an equal amount of play time, so it wouldn't be like anyone was opening for anyone. It was just them all playing together type deal. We should write them all a letter. Jesus Christ, can you imagine? It's actually too epic to even imagine. Lol.
cabot_girl Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Will you guys follow me with twitter msg to Billie and BR that they should just be friends, because they actually still share a LOT of fans!!!!! Rancid too:-)) That'd be an epic fucking tour. And they all got an equal amount of play time, so it wouldn't be like anyone was opening for anyone. It was just them all playing together type deal. They should join eachother on stage:-)))) EPIC
