fadi_7 Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 hmmmmmmmmm.......... if look at the last two albums(AI,21stCB) which they are from the new album stuff they are the best albums they ever had i know some of you may say dookie but they made green day more famous and won more awards from them ,green day became a lot better in live performance and in everything in the last few years..............we have to see more form the new stuff cause we haven't seen a lot of albums ,i prefer the new

I'll use the concert at the St. James from the last day of AI as an example. They played Only of You, I went crazy because I never thought that I'd hear them play that live. Then they played Murder City, I still went crazy because I never heard that live either. I will go crazy no matter what they play, because as long as it's Billie, Mike and Tre playing music together, I will always know that I will love it.

Monica. Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 I do see a difference between their "old" or "new" music, but like all other artists, they're not going to always have the same sound. I think their songs are all amazing in their own way. To me, every one of their songs have a meaning that have inspired me, and that's what I love about them. And I think we can all agree on that!

But even then there was a bridge up to Warning too with Nimrod. It's not like all the albums before Warning were the same and all the albums after were the same. It's all one long bridge

Yet, I love how they were brats back then, but some times people do have to grow up. So can I choose old or new, the answer is fuck no! I just them no matter what. What kind of question is that?!

dersulbob Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 In my opinion, all Green Day is good Green Day. 21st Century Breakdown is my least favourite album so far, but it still has some incredible tracks that I would put in my top ten. What I will say is that their two latest albums have made their live shows absolutely incredible.

I've noticed a lot in the older stuff, that Billie talks about growing old in a somewhat fearful way and in the newer stuff, it's like there is an acceptance of growing old and maturing. Evolving is a very good thing...it shows growth and the changes we make as human beings...never standing still. When it comes down to it, they are THE best band on the planet

When you're young, you remember your spirit and freedom, but with age comes complexity and more experiences, as with older and newer Green Day sound. I can't be too reminiscent, though, being a freakin 14 year old. But I did get into Green Day when I was 6-ish (2003 maybe?) If that counts for anything So to answer your question, I like newer Green Day just because it's fresh, but older Green Day is FAR from invalid.

There's different things I love about all their eras, definitely couldn't pick one.

I think green day it's green day, nothing old or new could change my opinion about them! i think they are a perfect band...just the way they act...that's all...we got 2 choices... green day....take it or just don't talk about them. that's my opinion, maybe i'm wrong ...but that's they way i love to think about green day

Yes AI is amazing, but overall, 1039 - Warning displayed most of their best work, and i enjoy them more because they worte about things that i can relate to. I feel that 21CB was just something the wanted to put out just to get something out (even though I know thats not the reason). Their newer music has turned political and I respect that, but their old rebelious, asshole like attitudes are my favorites.
