Velocity Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I usually listen to albums straight though. But sometimes I'll be in a weird mood and I'll listen to just a block of songs, or put my iPod on shuffle. It helps me appreciate the songs more sometimes and I'll end up liking a song more on its own than if I'd only listened to it in the context of the album.
Laura! Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 When an album comes out I listen to them all the way through for awhile. Other times than that I mostly listen to them on shuffle. There's also times where I listen to a random album all the way through.

The only rare exception is when I'm not in the mood for a certain song that might bring up a certain memory or feelings. It's actually gotten to a point where if they're out of order I get this weird feeling and have to turn off the music.
stuart telegraph Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 When I first got the album I listened straight through, but for the car I made burned cd's and combined albums like Kerplunk with Dookie, and included b-sides of Idiot and Breakdown how I think they would fit into the story. On Insomniac, I put some of the more angry sounding songs from Shenanigans on that cd, and songs like on the wagon with others from Nimrod. Sometimes I'll include a live rarity, like Minnesota girl with 39/smooth, which also has the last 4 track from Kerplunk since John was on the drums.

Mainly, though, I just listen to all of my Green Day music on shuffle. I like stumbling on music that I haven't heard in forever, and not knowing what song I'll listen to next.

But then I upload it on iTunes. 99% of the time I listen to my music on iTunes or my iPod and I just put them on shuffle. Even though I prefer CD's I don't listen to them as much. Or listen to album straight through much. I do that with all my music though. Unless I am obsessed with a particular song then I'll just play that.

Smoothed Out Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 It depends what I feel like on the day tbh, usually it'll be individual songs but with AAF/AI/21stCB I tend to always feel like listening to the album throughout from the beginning rather than just songs.

Not just because that's part of the 'greater album listening experience' or whatever, I just have to. I like to have the song playcounts on iTunes all the same for each album. It really annoys me when they're not all the same. OCD much?
