He IS saying Awesome As Fuck was inspired by the fans holding up the signs on this tour. But also, totally separately from that, Mike once held up a sign that said Ice Cube: Bad As Fuck. He only mentioned the Ice Cube thing because of the coincidence that it also involved a sign that said .....As Fuck on it.

Bono likes to to get quite involved and pressure politicians whereas Billie doesn't get quite as involved and he just sticks to an opinion about politicians and politics. He had to have known all along that's the way Bono operated, this isn't something Billie has come to realise recently.
