ANJI Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I really like this song. Its inspiring and the lyrics are sweet I'll go listen to it now
M3G4N Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 To be honest, if I wasn't an obsessed Green Day fan, I probably wouldn't give this song another thought after my first listen. But of course I'm slightly biased on everything Green Day does, and this thread prompted me to give it another chance. And hey, it's a nice little tune. Totally cringe-worthy lyrics, but it's charming and catchy in its own little way.
Fiona? Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 This would be AMAZING to hear live, especially now after 20 years, Billie's voice has changed dramatically, it would be so beautiful to experience in a show!
BrickOfSelfControl1995 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Very sweet lyrics. Not a weak song at all in my opinion (then again I hold every Green Day song in high esteem). "Here's this flower I picked for all the hours that you've spent with me" that's lyric alone is so simple and so unique at the same time. Gotta love these classic Green Day love songs.
Zelda Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I don't care how cheesy it is, it's such a sweet song. I fucking love it. It's one of my favorites off of 1039/SOSH.
beejeezee Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Finally 1,000 Hours is song of the week. Personally I love 1,000 Hours. I don't think it's a weak song, but very sweet. It's one of my favorite songs. "Here's this flower I picked for all the hours that you've spent with me." Has to be my favorite line
insomniaticnimrod Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Here's this flower I picked for all the hours That you've spent with me love it
Guest Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I love a lot of their older stuff, especially this. 39/Smooth was a really good first album that they did to get them on track to the career for the rest of their lives. All of their songs on this album have those catchy rhythms and lyrics that just get stuck in your head and bounce around in there for hours. Which I'm perfectly okay with since I love this album. 1,000 Hours is one of those songs that are so lovey, well to me that is. When I hear it I automatically think that he's talking about a girl, which he probably was at that time. And this almost reminds me of a serenade of some sort, in a way. Anyway, I love this song and it's a great pick for song of the week.
GDInsaniac Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Well it's not known to the general audience, but the true Green Day fan I think should still apreciate this song because it was the start of Green Day. This of course is not one of their best songs to date, but for a band just beginning when they made this song, its still preatty damn good. I personally don't love it, but it still has some specific meaning for Billie and the band, and they could care less if people hate it just like any other song that they have ever made.
littlegirl-of-suburbia Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 I find it so cute it makes me go awww when i hear it i like it but i need to feel really in luuuuve to listen to it if any one sung that to me (or last night on earth, when it's time, 2000 lightyears away....) i would go all --->
Trina Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 I adore the innocence of the lyrics. The vocal harmonies and fuzzy guitar make me melt. You have to enjoy the image of Billie Joe looking into this chick's window and writing stalker-ish lyrics too. and yeah with the silhoutte of your dreams ryhmed with grace thing, I used to think he was singing silhoutte of your needs I love, "We'll never break as one to strong" I don't see how people can't love this song. They obviously have no soul.
littlegirl-of-suburbia Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 I think that it's awesome that Green day have love songs like 1000 hours The fact is they have songs for nearly every mood in the mood spectrum (from rage to love XD)
Pupulainen Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 I like this song. It's not one of my biggest favourites, but it's sweet and at the same time kind of funny in all its cheesiness. And it makes me feel happy because it's such a positive and happy song. (As many others, I seem to have misheard the "silhouette of your grace" line - I was convinced it was "silhouette of your dreams" before I read this thread. )
JuliaX_Ray2020 Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 I love green day same as the song 's meaning haha
Psycho Britney Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Definately on the love side. Would be immense to hear this live. Cheesy, I guess but so sweet and I've never cringed when I listen to it.
cartoonjunkie Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Probably gonna hate me for saying this, but... I really like 1,000 Hours because nowhere in the song does Billie say 'she' or 'her', so in my mind I like to imagine that Billie is singing about Mike, or Tré, or another guy... I'm a terrible fan... X3
accountdeleted1203 Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I love some of the old "love songs" because you can tell how young Billie Joe was when he wrote them and how much his songs writing abilities have developed over the years, when you compare this to a song off of American Idiot or 21st Century Breakdown the style of writing is really different. I really love this song as well, its not about Adrienne though right? Probably gonna hate me for saying this, but... I really like 1,000 Hours because nowhere in the song does Billie say 'she' or 'her', so in my mind I like to imagine that Billie is singing about Mike, or Tré, or another guy... I'm a terrible fan... X3 Good point, I wouldn't of thought of that
Batgirl Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 I love how sweet BJ is when he talks about fucking saying "passion and love to be all night along"

And I like that .

J'net Posted April 9, 2011 Author Posted April 9, 2011 ... its not about Adrienne though right? Right - it was written before they met. Also, one line gives it away ... "Let my hands flow through your hair"
