Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 He's as much as "one of the lads" as any of them but not part of the band when it comes to recording etc. He has the best job. He gets to be in the band and play these fucking amazing shows in front of thousands with guys who he is friends first, bandmates second. And he gets to avoid all the stuff that comes with fame because he's not considered an "official" member. He has a great set-up going. And the "Jason" from the tweet could easily be Jason Freese, they could be playing a song that requires piano.
bollard_11 Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 ^Agreed And the "Jason" from the tweet could easily be Jason Freese, they could be playing a song that requires piano. OR Making the most action packed album ever with Or even this guy
Tripe Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 If you've read Cometbus 54, there is a facinating part where Aaron is talking to Jason by the hotel pool in one of the tour stopovers. Jason sounds like he is pretty content where he is, but also will be quite content when what Aaron calls "the inevitable" happens - the band's popularity falls off and things are much less crazy. He talks about being able to move back to Little Rock with his wife and how nice that would be. He also mentions that he has to go offsite to afford to eat while they are on tour - the food at the fancy hotels used for the tour this time around is too expensive for him! Regarding recognition from the fans - he good naturedly tells Jeff Matika that "it only took him ten years" for people to start recognizing him when the band is walking by a crowd of fans who are craning their necks for BJA, Tre, and Mike while virtually ignoring everyone else. I agree that he might just have the best job of all of them. Provided he is compensated accordingly for it and can afford to eat!
IscoredWaddlesgoals Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Have I imagined it* or is there not a bit in Cometbus where it says Billie suggested it to Mike & Tre but they said no ? plus, I don't think Jason himself wants to join anyway. Judging by the looks of it, he's quite happy to turn up to learn the songs at the last minute and then tour them. *Sadly, more likely than you might think
oda Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 ^Agreed Or even this guy http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3152/2412959340_012d9a81c7.jpg That made me laugh so hard! Jason Voorhees
sampy Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 OR Making the most action packed album ever with http://www.lahiguera.net/cinemania/actores/jason_statham/fotos/3730/jason_statham.jpg FUCK YEAH! Green Day AND Jason Statham would be the most bi-winning thing ever.
Annie, get your gun Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Uhm... Great backup guitarist. But no. I know Green Day sounds like a T-R-I-O. Sorry
Jaymee!! Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Billie has always stated that Jason's been a member of the band for the last *insert number of years* at all the shows, has he not? Seems like a pretty simple answer to me.
alaniluau Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Jason will never be an official member. Being a full time sexasaur is enough of a job.
pasalaska Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 to me, there are two different 'Green Day's - there's Billie Mike and Tre, who do all the writing and publicity and whatnot. The face of Green Day. And then there's live Green Day (my favourite) which has six members. It's like Green Day 2.0 yes. that makes sense in my mind.

Green Day is probably the best live band in the world. And I don't think they'd be if there weren't The Big Three...
The Guy Called Kill Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Jason, Jason F and Jeff are just using Green Day as a stepping stone to help get publicity for their secret band . The Fuckwhats.
P3AC3MAK3R Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Noooo, this will mean he will be in there posters and stuffff
pasalaska Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 hahaha, now I've got an amazing mental image of Jason being awkward in Green Day posters, while Billie, Mike and Tre strike cool poses.
captain peroxide Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Just kinda standing at the back looking shy Awww, Jason.
Minority_GD Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Just kinda standing at the back looking shy Awww, Jason. Imagine Jeff Matika! He'd probably be standing there pretending he is invisible^^
pasalaska Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Imagine Jeff Matika! He'd probably be standing there pretending he is invisible^^ Jeff's far less awkward than Jason, according to my reliable Jeff source. Jason just stands there and silently judges people, whereas Jeff actually talks
Abbey. Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I hear the Jasons and Jeff are starting a band called THE BIG THREE. imagine the eerie-lost-looking fans that band is gonna have. *shivers*
Minority_GD Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Jeff's far less awkward than Jason, according to my reliable Jeff source. Jason just stands there and silently judges people, whereas Jeff actually talks Oh really? Then Jason Freese at a photo shooting: Photographer: Jason, take the toothpick outta your mouth! Jason: No Photographer: YES! Jason: *walks away* I hear the Jasons and Jeff are starting a band called THE BIG THREE. imagine the eerie-lost-looking fans that band is gonna have. *shivers* They're not actually having a band, they just call themselves The Big Three. They're just being sarcastic, because no one recognizes them...
Hermione Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Just kinda standing at the back looking shy Awww, Jason. I want this poster to happen! Reminds me of that interview where they brought him on but he just quietly kneeled down on the floor behind them and said "thank you sir" when the interviewer wished him happy birthday. Lmao.
